Starlet GT 1.3 forged engine, tdo4 turbo @ 1.25bar = 252bhp = SOLD :(

EDIT: Charade GTxx 993cc three cylinder turbo, 173bhp @ 1.4bar (should hit 200bhp with a larger throttle body, removing stupid high lift cams and a bit more boost)

having seen the amount of work that goes into building a d16z6 to 300-400bhp i havent been put off yet, i just have a verrrryyy long shopping list ;) i think the turbo is the only undecided part thata i can think of at the mo.

Ill find the site with the blokie who did a 300bhp Turbo conversion to his 96 Sir. It wasnt even finished and it cost him nearly 4k.

The vtec engine just couldnt handle the power so he had to pay someone to uprate the internals which pushed the price up!

I remember when i wanted A delsol that a basic kit was like 3k+

How do you plan on cutting the price by two thirds?

lots of research helps alot sparky. the b series engines found in the vti and sir don't respond well to turbo conversions, so the d series (like my d16z6 engine is the prime choice) are the ones to go for as they respond brilliantly to turbos. as crazy as it sounds a basic conversion that'll see me running 200-220bhp will cost around £700, thats as much as stock internals can handle. upgrade the internals, turbo and get some management and thats when the price goes up. as my valve seals are on the way out im going to rebuild the head before i do the converison, seems silly to remove the head 3 or 4 times, this way i'll be doing it only twice, once to rebuild it and the 2nd to rebuild the bottom end. the head rebuild is costing me around £1k. the bottom end will be slightly less as the oem crank is capable of 600bhp, so pistons and rods at £300-350 a set of each is the major costs at the bottom.

im uprating the entire head when i rebuild, hence the price of about £1k on parts. need to find somewhere to port and polish it while its out.

Christ that is good if that all works ok. Must of been a good conversion i looked at then because he spent 3 times as much to get 300bhp! :)

well greddy kits are £1500+ full race are £2500+ yet you still need to spend the same on internals to achieve that same power goal.
