It gets pretty warm in my car in the summer! The air con struggles to keep it cool! I guess a huge FMIC in front of the air con rad doesn't help  So I wrapped my down pipe and de-cat today. It was pretty easy (a bit fiddly) to do, but took AGES! I also wrapped a small section of my FMIC hot pipe, as it drops right in front of the intake There isn't any room for a cold air feed either :frown: Unless I take the headlight out ![]() ![]() ![]()

Well if you want a hand...ask someone else, it took bnloody ages Na only kidding. Here is my reply on the SXOC Well its cooler inside the car already. It was a warm day today and it was MUCH cooler than thursday when I went for a spin. No change in performance, but I removed the heatshields, one of which was touching the exhaust on acceleration. WOW what a difference, the car is soooo much quieter and silky smooth. Well worth doing IMO. Just got to give the manifold some thought. |

Did you dampen the wrap to make it easier to wrap? Also what about protective paint? |

What wrap did you use Paul? Thickness/make etc etc? A pretty good mod IMHO. The fannimould is going to be an interesting challenge for you I expect |

I just wrapped my mani last night Used thermo tec gen II copper stuff, 2" wide, then sprayed a hi-heat coating paint to protect it from oil and road grime! Man it smoked for about 5 mins when i started it up! |

Its ok, it just smokes the first time you heat it up for about 5mins, then it goes away! |

Its corrosion on mild steel that I would worry about, and cracking due to heat build up on either mild or stainless steel. I have seen a few expensive pipes crack

My stainless-steel downpipe cracked within about 3 months and I had it wrapped. Got it replaced with the same (well not the same but the same design from the same company) and left it un-wrapped and its been fine for ages. I dont think i'll wrap one again but loads of other people do it without problems. |

Mine is stainless and its holding up fine. It is a nice thick guage and very well built. I have no idea what wrap I used, I just bought it from apex performance. |
