I know you must all be missing the sight of my GTi-R by now.

So here's a few pics of how she's doing:

NOTE HOW THE GEARBOX IS HELD IN PLACE.

OUT WITH THE OLD...

Posted Image
IN WITH THE NEW.

INCH THICK OF DUST!

And it's been looking like this for months. Progress would most definately not be the word to describe what's been made.

But I'm assured I'll have it back by Wednesday. Here's hoping.

3 years rob believe it or not, every time i go in there i ask them how much more they have to do to dales car and its always it'll be finished in a week or 2, been saying that for the last year. they had a merc in there thats been in their a fair while aswell. dale have they given you a completion date yet, or is it still january 2040. thats telstars speed for you, not as bad i know but it took them 2 and a half weeks to fit a backbox on my old car.

Yep, that's right. Beleive it or not. Telestar have had my car for a little over 3 years now. Well I lie. I did have it back during there change of premises, but that was a matter of weeks.

I know, it's insane!

Well it went in originally cos the gearbox went bang (nothing unusual for a Pulsar).

So, I thought, while there at it, I'll get a new clutch and flywheel too. Shouldn't really take 'em much longer.

How wrong was I?!

Well after seeing a solicitor a few weeks ago, I was given yet another date for it to be completed. Jan 31st (2007 I assume).

But you've gotta understand, I've been given one date after another for completion. It get's a little frustrating after a while.

But I actually hold out hope for this one. The garage is closing for 3 days, just to work on my car!

PLEASE LET IT BE FINISHED THIS TIME....

That is just unbelievable mate.

I would proceed with caution regarding money owed to them. Your car is now 3 years older and will of suffered depreciation in value. All of the perishable componants are 3 years older.

I would be certainly looking to avoid paying them a bean!

they should at least have to pay to put it through an mot at another test station including anything that needs fixing (if they've had the car 3 years i wouldn't trust them to mot it without it being dodgy).

I can't see how they can run a successful garage with at least one cars worth of space taken up for that long. They must have really high prices to make up for the low turnover.

Nope, not yet.

I'm very reluctant, but I think I would have to pay them for the work done.

I don't think there's really anyway of getting out of that, even if they did take 3 years to carry it out.

Surely its got to be MOT'd, vateted, and taxed before you get it back, if not i think you would be justified in witholding a suitable ammount of payment surely

Well TBH, I just wanna get it back now. Whatever state it may be in.

I'm gonna take it to Butler to be MOT'd, and the valeting I'll do myself (I've been lokking forward to doing that for a while).

I just want them to do what they gotta do, and let me have it back.

I'm afraid the more I ask for, the longer they're gonna take with it...

dale usually they post you an invoice after youve collected the car so you go back and pay it, you should write a check and knock aload off for the inconvenience of them having your car so long leaving you without transport etc, if you spoke to a solicitor they would probably agree its justified to do that. i knocked some off the invoice when they fucked something on my old car so i had to buy a new 1 and there was nothing they could do, just wait for the invoice and see what you can do then.

Thats suprising Andy, normally the garage wont let the car leave the premises until payment is made, incase someone tries a runner! But then telstar dont exactly follow the book in other areas....

I've just read this post in complete amasement :o

Three years.............really? three years.......

I know it's not the done thing but could you, as a service to anyone wishing to avoid them, tell me who/where they are because three years for a clutch change is a fucking joke.

I WON

Yeah, everytime I've had something done by them they've always let me take it on without payment.

Just have to wait for the bill to come through the post...

Yeah, I can tell ya who they are, no probs.

It's Telstar garage. They based on the Blandford Heights industrial estate.

But as much as I'd like to slag 'em off they've always been good to me in the past, and the work's always been of a good standard. In fact the head mechanic there really know's his stuff.

Saying that, I'm never going back again. LOL.

Did they give you a run around whilst it was out of action??

If not charge them for it, car hire, bus fair, train tickets etc(dont expect them to pay for you holidays though)

where abouts are they?

Name and shame, get on to the local rag, photographer and reporter on site when you finaly pick it up.

Its cos Dale has been travelling for like 2-3 years now, only back occasionally they have obvious thought ah he wont need it as hes not here. Tossers. Why they just didnt get on and fix it is beyond me. Even if they just spent a few hours a week they have had it done aages ago!

i agree dale trevor knows his stuff and his work is realy good but the amount of time they take to do anything is abit of a piss take and the prices are getting abit silly aswell now. and make sure when you pick up the car gett any old bits that came off it else sam will charge you for getting rid of each item individually.

Yeah, I'll definately be sure to pick everything up from there.

A couple of the things comming off are actually worth a little bit of money, so I'm not gonna let them keep them from me. My car will probably be full to the brim with junk when I get it back...

Yeah, as Harv says, I've been travelling on and off for the past few years, so from that angle I can see why they might take a little longer. But I was home at the end off 2005 for 3 months, keeping on at them for it to be done. And over a year later it doesn't look like they touched a thing.

I really have no idea what has taken them so long.

Yeah, I mean, just one hour every month would've had it done by now.

Hopefully all this will be over soon.

Well as you can all see from my signature, my car is still incomplete.

As much as I'd love to sit here and write slanderous comments about them all night, I'm going to resist. (I've got in trouble for that before)

So in a calm and polite manner, I'm going to explain the events of today...

I rolled up to Telstar this afternoon (in my mums Citroen Xsara), wondered into the office to find Sam on the phone. So I went and saw Trevor. And I couldn't help but notice... MY CAR LOOKED EXACTLY THE SAME AS IT DID LAST WEEK!

So I questioned Trevor about this. What did he say? "I just didn't get the chance.."

Grrrrrrr!!!!

I went back in to see Sam. And I asked him, "what happened over the last 3 days, I thought you closed the garage to work on my car?"

They were cleaning he said. Then he said that they got busy with customers.

I didn't think that was supposed to happen when you're closed!

But we'll get round to it he says...

Clearly Trevor must've seen my disgust, cos he came in and said that he can have the wheels on (but not running) and it out of there by Tuesday.

If that's true, then I'll settle for that and take it somewhere else to be done.

So long as they don't charge me, I'm fine with that idea.

I've now writen an official letter to them, stating that if I don't have it back by Tuesday 6th February, I'm claiming compensation.

It's a shame it all had to go this far, but I'm getting more than a little pee'd off now.
