i took my 106 down the little strip at modded uk in kent, was quite pleased with it aswell, it was a 1.4 single point injection, and it beat an xsi.

although, it had a dodgy gearbox at the time, which just got me home, and blew up the next day.

For those who have run, what 1/4 mile time did you make? I just hope I don't kill the clutch (uprated Exedy) cos £500 a time is not cheap!

I have run the 1/4 mile in my car, and literally run it also :D

Did it in the Teggy years ago, only ran 3 times and I wasnt really interested in killing engine components hence the rather dissapointing 15 seconds.

I am sure if I was mechanically unsypathetic on the car I could have managed a lot lower times but it was more for experience than anything else.

Yeah fair enough, how much you want to give it off the line is up to you but once off the line its no worse than a track session surly <_<

After using the last days of owning my teg to practise my launches ;) i found a full bore launce is useless anyway as apart from a huge cloud of bridgestone smoke you dont get anywhere off the line.... 3500rpm and slip the clutch was perfect :drive:

That said when i had the GT4 with a racing clutch that baby used to launch with just a chirp of the tyres at 7k then straight onto full boost... and smelt of clutch for ages lol 4WD rocks for 1/4 mile :afro:

A recent tip I was given it that you should get on the line and pull up the handbrake.

Get the clutch loaded with a fair bit of power so the power is already on the drivetrain, then drop the handbrake on green.

This supposedly will alieviate (sp!) the stress on the diff etc when you actually launch as it is already loaded with power before you take off.

No idea just how much truth is in it but it did come from a guy who has run a lot of times.

Looking forward to dragging the rx7 this year, havent actually taken it down the strip yet, done a couple of runs in my old prelude,so times should get better as the year goes on.Yep pre loading can help, especially on rx7s preventing the diff from going bang(a very common fault),however when you are on the start line its just another thing to concentrate on,(holding revs, looking at the christmas tree, opponent etc is bad enough),however i should think practice makes perfect.First event for me is redlines god of the pod in may :D

Also it means you are at full boost when you drop the clutch.

14.09sec - 100mph using that method
14.25secs without the handbrake but holding it at 3500rpm and slipping the crap out of the clutch when the light's went green

I WON

Is the loaded handbreak method as much use on NA front drive cars rather than 4WD?

I got a 15sec average! It's all getting off the line thats the problem! getting the balance between wheelspin and power!

I don't think you would load the e-brake on a front wheel drive car as it would just drag its @rse if you know what I mean. In RWD and 4WD cars this method lets you load up the transmission and helps to reduce wheel spin. Also whilst revving high with the e-brake on your turbo makes boost I was making around .7 of a bar, so when the clutch is dumped you are on full power, then slowly release the e-brake and I have driven scoobys for five years, that was the first time up the strip, the first time I have launched one correctly(F#ckin@ great FUN)

As my mate Arnie say's " I'll be back"
