imo, w129/157 was only fun because people picked teams and things were evened out (somewhat). The recent attempts to start a cw world just resulted in 50% of the players pidding up until 1 min and everyone ends up going to guthix or stacking with friends. The games suck because one team is pid stacked or mage stacked or whatever

And to address radar's problem (point #2), if clans actually started to full out more, even the newbiest players would have their place in a war. I remember joining my first clan, and even though everyone was a pro compared to me, I still did my job and spam maged or something. Clans need to start (mass) recruiting again and warring with everyone they got.

One main issue I see about full outs is that clans would complain if people try fitting more players into their team (even if this means having their players going into opposite team to make room). Everyone always complains about this, but it's called a full out for a reason. Let's say that this isn't an problem, and clans fit everyone into their respective teams (ex: logging out in game before hopping to war world, players going into other team to make room, etc). I know it can be a hassle with the end of each game and trying to fit everyone back into the teams, but it is possible and can be done. There are still other things conflicting with the 'full out wars' problem. And looking past those problems, pid is the last problem that will be somewhat hard to fix. If a clan tries to fit everyone into the portal, the other clan with less people are free to pid as they want without any risk of losing a player's spot. Of course clans can apply a no pidding rule, although it is very plausible, I doubt clans would go that far just for a full out war because most people would rather have just their best players play in a cap war just for a 'win' on their record.

Recruiting players would also help with events. From 2009 onwards, I remember clan events were boring to go to because only like 15 people would go to them. I'm only speaking from experience, so think that this holds true for every clan. When I was a noob, events were fun because there were loads of people to play with, but nowadays, it's really a burden to try and go to them sometimes.

The bottom line is that pid, along with other problems mentioned such as attitude problems, and high standards to join a clan are slowly killing the castle wars we all came to love. It would be easier to turn things around if the priority system was changed. Most of us are probably already starting to think about quitting.

The current member base (for castle wars clans) isn't exactly growing and people that apply to clans are generally recycled players that just hop around or join if their current clan dies. After we all eventually quit, our hard work that we put into reforming castle wars from a mini game, into a hard-learned skill, will just slowly disappear for a new generation to start from scatch (if runescape is even here then, lol). My advice for everyone is to start recruiting players, start warring full out, and public games can't hurt either if the pid issue isn't that bad. Continuing on our current path would just cause our numbers to dwindle until everyone eventually quits.

Summer 2010 is here, let's make it a good one.

Summer 2010 is here, let's make it a good one.
Support. I think we could make it like it was a few summers ago. A lot more people will have free time in the summer so lets try and have some fun. Full outs are good idea as well.
Mhm, We need to recruit new people to join Castle wars clan.

I know the new clans out there don't want to let just anyone join, but I think those guys do have potential. I don't know if you guys have seen those new members on our site creating intros, well I did my part by inviting these guys to at least join the CWC. By joining the cwc they can figure out more about CW clans and how to join one. If they are REALLY into Cw then they will try and get better, get enough tix for clan reqs, and continue the legacy. Many old skoolers have quit or retired, and many still continue to play. We need new people because once upon a time we were new to CW and it was that one nice person that took the action by inviting you to join a CW clan.

We ALL need to do our part! If we see anyone that could be a potential future "Pro" Cwer, then we have to try and invite them to join clans or AT LEAST Join the Community.
Yeah, uh huh, you know what it is

I'd rather Cw died with Cwc rather than with people who are just starting. Some things have to end.. and after all it's a game within a game.. who really cares lol
Kinda agree with this bloke. Cw stood for something fun back in the day. It stands for best pid and arguing about who actually won a war nowadays. Don't see the new people doing anything good for the Castle Wars some/most of us once knew it. I rather have it die with the memory of the big names in cw.

Don't believe most of the old school people enjoy warring as much and the 'new' people don't add to it. We see fat monkeys like sweet dogg play nowadays who can't keep their mouth shut and legendary cw'ers ruining their status they once had like airhed.

Just my opinion thx

Its gonna be a lot harder for new people to become "legends" or as skilled as a lot of us are now that IP is gone. IP was a good thing for helping newbies improve at cw.

HOW?
1. The more experienced players usually had ip so they always got flag and new people could always see their what they do and learn from it.
2. It also gave them somewhat of a handicap, so they had to become skilled at the game to make up for lack of IP if they wanted to do good (i know for me i was undivisible and i was probably better then than i am now because i had to click every pass/drop perfectly and I would never miss a click.)
3. Also you would rarely get the flag so you would have make it count if you got it. Now all you have to do is log out till u get pid so even people who arent "cw-smart" yet know how to do it (unlike IP changing) so they just rely on their pid and if they die they just run back (W24 style)
4. Which means....they never develope enough cw abilitys to allow them to do 5v5s where you need skill and not just pid, which is the best way to get better at cw, and no one invites them to 5v5s cuz they arent any good so they dont get any better.

Oh yea and w24 games suck now so its not possible to get better there anymore. We used to have worlds like 129,131,157 where the newer players had the opportunity to play against real defenders/scorers in an actual war/clan-type setting. All we used to have to do was invite friends to one of these worlds to play among real cw'ers and if they liked it theyd come more often and get a lot better, but we dont really do these worlds anymore.

Im goin to put some words of wisdom because I never really do and I feel like my brain should start working again cause summer classes are starting.
Anyways
I think its better off to let cwc die than to have a new era of cwc.
1) Lets face it...if we do get a whole bunch of new people its going to be Old School vs New School automatically, everything has become easier nowadays which allows us to even think there is potential in these people. Don't get me wrong there might be a few select individuals who might have the potential, but I don't there is enough. Back in the day it was all about skill not ip or pid, nowadays its all about click. Whos the fastest and anyone can be the fastest now..which involves no skill. basically old school vs new school is skill vs speed and a lot of the people in cwc don't like that already
2) ok really how many people are going to play rs for like 2 more years... everyone is going to move on with there life no one will come back to this forum after getting a college degree and be like lets play cw..no one is going to do that theres a saying that somethings are better left untouch.. this is for us not 2 touch the new ppl in inapproiate ways ok jk but u get the point
3) cwc was smaller before than it is now...before it was harder to find skill thats why people were actually recruited now there are so many people that play cw and again its all about speed .. you never know if you play a game in a cw world you might think someone is good but they might be worse for example) there can be two people one with pid one without say the one with pid gets the flag on a drop or something and you witness him scoring off that.. you only play one game n decide to recruit him you never know if the other guy was better just cause we base things off one game)

to add to #2 do you really want to see newcomers lay a foundation on top of this one that u gise have built when you might or might not be here 2 witness...idk i wouldnt want to because cw has become a joke now

but again im just givin mi opinion =p thx hav a gr8 day

Kura is pretty much agreeing with this and has brought it up to DCW councils including myself that we should take this into consideration and from what we've decided we will most likely do it but we arent a clan like D_L who have that " invite " bs and only take in known cwers. I'm not trying to diss this it's brought them to the #1 spot but I've always been the kind of person who likes seeing people who most consider " a wannabe " turn into a good player. I wasn't that great until Kura took me into the first DCW and made me the pretty decent player I am now. What I'm trying to say is everybody has the potential to be a Shenron or a Brian but they just need to be given the chance yet clans are too hard-headed to even do it. If you guys really wanna see CW survive and actually be fun again this full-out plan needs to be put into place. It would make it sooooooo much more fun than it is now since all clans wanna do now is win wars and be #1. To do that they only put their " cap " team and the rest are fillers which I see unfair. Then when clans lose with these fillers they blame it on them like it's all their fault that the staff were too worried about winning to put them into a war or two to get them experience.

The hardest part of this is actually finding people to make into better players...

The Old School vs New School thing wouldn't happen if some of the Old School players would be willing to help these people get better.
It would be nice to see clans drop their way of recruiting and make these new players into the pros we all know they can be.

Thats my view :/
