My comment on the downfall of CwG

CwG has been falling apart for the last couple of months. Not only the people in CwG, but also people in the CWC could notice this. We lost some valuable players to other clans and the activity level of a big part of the clan was almost equal to zero. In my eyes, there are three main reasons that play in the downfall of CwG, which I will state and epxlain one by one.

One of the reasons, which was also pointed out by Shenron and Cordero, was the fact that a lot of our members are moving on irl and quit RS. You can clearly see this in the list I made of loyal CwG that still play RS and those who retired and quit. (http://z10.invisionfree.com/Cwcommunity/index.php?showtopic=387) Through this, we lost a lot of good players, friends and people that were part of our community. A sad loss, but I will never forget the good times that we had.

Another reason for the downfall of CwG was the minimum of activities. Despite Radar's late efforts to try and keep the clan active and my efforts of introducing the capped events, a lot of people were busy irl. Hence our bad turn-out on our events. Something that also played a part in this was that we were not able to find any clan that wanted to war us. We had already beat all of the clans full-out if not capped and we have proven that we were part of the elites. Slowly, the clan became less and less active and due to this, people, who have been loyal to CwG for a long time decided that it was time for them to move on to a different clan. Along with a lot of our players retiring, our memberlist shrunk from a topping 70+ to less than 40 people.

The last reason that I think contributed to the downfall of CwG that not everybody might agree with, is bad leadership. Despite the good of Shenron and Cordero, the clan was falling apart. I think the status of leader requires many responsibilities. This includes things like keeping good relations with other clans, which Shenron and Cordero did terrifically, but part of that responsibility is also keeping the clan active. On this point, I think Shenron and Cordero failed. They neglected their role as leader and there was a minimal effort in keeping the clan active. Most effort had to come from the members themselves or me as council. I had written out the whole idea of the capped events, but I was the only one enforcing it. The only thing that the leaders did was give their approval. I did not find any support whatsoever in to keep the clan active, not from the leaders, nor from the remaining council. I also think that there was no full appreciation as to what I all did in my role as council. Fact is though, that Mack admitted to do nothing much in his role of leader and decided to stand down. Also the remaining council admitted to do nothing much and did not much effort in the election for council that was currently going on. Also the last point, the election, shows that the leaders did not take their role of leader as serious as was required. The plan was to let people that wanted to be council prove in what way they would successfully forfill the role of council. This could for instance include making events or getting wars with other clans. After the idea was posted, time passed. The plan of demoting all the council and filling those spots with new people never came. Another point I noticed was that the leaders slightly slipped into corruption. Friends could get an auto-in, but other people who were clearly good enough to be in CwG got voted in and repolled the day after they got in. Friends could get voice in #cwg, while its a commonly known policy to only give CwG members voice. Nevertheless, they were leaders that set an example as to the skillful Cw players that were in the clan.

As to the point of my comment. I think there is a lot of arouse about the fall of CwG. There are many different rumors on the actual reasons for the downfall of CwG. I thought I'd clear things up and give my opinion, since I was very close to this all and involved in a different way than many people from the outside CWC world would never experience.

With a war record of 16 wins, 3 ties and no losses, I can say that CastleWars Greatest really was a great clan to be in. Not only did we beat every clan around, we also had a great community who came together on our forums. People like Rosco and Tddun, retired and quit from RS, but still occasionally get on the CwG forums, because they are part of the community. It's a shame that Shen and Cord decided to disband the clan and its also pitiful that they closed down the forums. I know that a lot of people agree with me on this point. The place where our community got together and where we talked about nothing, but nevertheless share memories and most of all: had fun.

Never fully understood why Shenron was given leader. No offence to Shenron but he was just a run of the mill CWG member when he was suddenly thrust into the Leader role. This is obviously not his fault but Draco's. Neither Shenron nor Cord command the respect that a leader should, yes they're liked but they're not seen as a leader but a friend which was their problem.

man deal u said it all =[
we had too many members get on with their irl life, and when I or someone else made an event even people in IRC would be like 'im not going l0l' or 'wow i came and i missed the game fuck this'. To me it sounded a lot like when c_w was dying. Our last even we could only get 12 members to come or something. It didn't seem like the events were important or anything.

Tbh i dont agree either with the closing of the forums or with in general the disbanding of CWG. I think we could have still been fine if we actually went through with the council changes, and maybe add a new leader. IMO a combo of Bat/Deal would have been a really good council rank.

After this tho so far I have been reluctant to join another clan...i got really close to everyone in cwg and now that im not in the same clan as them i dont feel 'at home'. i would like to see CWG be put back together but theres like a 10% chance of that happening lol
