General Information Name: Kawaguchi Hiromasa Alias: Keeper of the Fivefold Gates (more often simply Gatekeeper) Gender: Male Age: 31 Country of Origin and Village: Kirigakure Current Residence: Amegakure History: Overall, the Kawaguchi clan has not been treated well in Kirigakure. With their ubiquitous neurological problems, they are seen as quite weak. Several times in their history, a group of Mist-nin decided to cull the weak clan, killing most if not all Kawaguchi who were not extensively trained. Today, some Kawaguchi still remain, although they are usually treated as second-class citizens. Hiromasa was treated fairly well (for a Kawaguchi), being placed in Special Ed. Since he was mostly mute and his hands were too shaky to write or use sign language well, they thought he was retarded. The few times he was able to express his actual, highly developed intellect, it was usually dismissed due to preconceptions. Eventually, however, a Jounin took notice of his hidden intelligence, and decided to put him through Ninja Academy. It was very difficult for him, and it didn't help at all that this was back in bloodier times for the Mist. Because of his shaking hands, weapons were mostly useless to him at the time, and he had great trouble forming handseals. He eventually figured out how to write simple sentences with some legibility, by steading one hand with the other. He could write, but only very slowly, and still had trouble forming the more complicated kanji. This did little to assuage the rumors of his supposed stupidity. And since his Kekkei Genkai made him so resilient, the others did not hesitate to beat him. For all the months he was in the Academy, he bottled up his anger, waiting for a better time to unleash it. He unleashed a bit of his anger in the Genin qualification battles...his was one of the bloodier battles. It was around the time of the Chuunin Exam that others thought that perhaps he wasn't as stupid as he seemed. He had practiced the handseals enough that he could do it even with shaky hands, allowing him to show his mastery of the basics to the other genin. Steadying one hand enough to write, he aced the Chuunin test without even needing to cheat. His two teammates used various methods to copy off his test; since they spent so much time around him, they knew he was truly intelligent. It was in the Forest of Death that he could finally express all the anger he felt. Several other teams had decided to cull the Kawaguchi, but Hiromasa caught them off guard with Daitoppa, hurling at least two shinobi out of the forest itself, disqualifying them. He was trying to kill them, however; he had little mercy left by then. He won the preliminary match with similar tactics, critically injuring his opponent and moving on to the final tournament. By the time of the tournament, Hiromasa had learned how to summon Nagataka. The two immediately bonded. The Tiger could read even Hiromasa's subtle movements, knowing that beneath his expressionless exterior was a true genius. With Nagataka's help, Hiromasa was able to retrieve the Needle of Infinite Skies, a weapon he uses to this day. The Tiger's help was also instrumental in Hiromasa's victory in the tournament, proving himself worthy of Chuunin status. As a Chuunin, Hiromasa got a bit more respect. By now, most of Kirigakure knew he wasn't as stupid as he seemed, but they still couldn't take him seriously as a genius. At least very few had the guts to taunt him by then. It was mostly just the Jounin that still treated him badly...and this made him fear for his life. On more than one occasion he was sent on a mission far above his skill level, obviously to kill him, but he always managed to think his way out of it. In fact, if it weren't for these deadly missions, he never would have met the right people to get him the Crocodile and Beetle Kuchiyose contracts. His power and skill had become undeniable, even as many still said he was just lucky, or perhaps had other ninja helping him everywhere he went. This paranoia and desperate claims did not prevent Hiromasa from getting promoted to Jounin at the age of 19. It did, however, cause him to tire of Kirigakure. He became quite withdrawn, normally only coming out of his house to train or accept missions. This went on for at least 3 years before someone had tried to assassinate him. Since he had fallen into the habit of having Nagataka constantly by his side by then, the assassin was discovered and dispatched. The next day, Hiromasa summoned his beetle and flew out of Kirigakure, and never looked back. For almost 10 years, he fought off assassinations and served as a mercenary to any country that could pay. He always accepted, and specifically searched for, missions that would hinder Kirigakure; over time, he developed a seething hatred towards his old country. However, in this time he also caught wind of a legendary jutsu; the Fivefold Gates, which required the use of all five elements. In its time this was accomplished by gathering multiple shinobi. Rumor had it that the jutsu was only ever known to one team capable of using it. Hiromasa, even with extensive research, could not determine exactly how to find it. It could be known by a survivor from the last keepers of the Fivefold Gates, a lost scroll, or perhaps something entirely different. He has been searching fruitlessly ever since. In between mercenary work and searching for the Fivefold Gates, Hiromasa settled down in various towns, living in various countries temporarily. Konoha was one of the more common ones, but he also spent plenty of time near Amegakure, and he eventually learned of Akatsuki. For a ninja of his experience, gathering information on Akatsuki was easy; the tricky part was not getting caught. He liked what he found. Ten people with the courage to leave their former homes to serve a single cause. A cause Hiromasa believed was more than worthy. And, conveniently, they were using methods he already knew; pain to stop pain, a war to end all wars. He was discovered, but, perhaps by chance, Nagataka convinced them to not simply kill him. Instead, Hiromasa offered his services, proving himself valuable by his knowledge of the Fivefold Gates, making sure he stayed a step ahead to stay valuable. Pain's Mind Reading could not reveal the information; years of isolation from other humans and the damage to his mind from his Kekkei Genkai have left it alien, leaving that method untrustworthy when used on him. Rank: Jounin [/i]Faction:[/i] Akatsuki Team: None Chakra Affinity/Specialty: Wind/Lightning. Hiromasa has a heavy focus on ninjutsu, and, especially with his summons, has a wide variety, mostly due to his incredible intellect and extensive study. He is a master summoner. However, he was never any good with genjutsu, and, even with exercise, lacks the muscle for heavy taijutsu. Characteristics Visual Appearance: No image Physical Appearance: Hiromasa has a mask-like face, barely changing even if he struggles to make a facial expression. His skin is somewhat pale. He has deep blue eyes and long dark gray hair, going down to his shoulders. He is of a fairly unremarkable height, 5' 11”, lightly built and with long arms and legs. He looks abnormally young for his age, only appearing to be in his mid-twenties. When angry, the chakra paths around his eyes flood with excess chakra, stimulating the blood vessels in his eyes and making them look bloodshot. Clothing and Armor: Hiromasa wears the standard cloak and conical hat all Akatsuki wear. He has a piercing on his left eyebrow, just above the bridge of his nose. Under his robes, he wears a pair of black, loose pants along with sandals. He wears a chain shirt, mostly to protect his heart, with a green shirt under it. His finger and toenails are painted dark blue, but he wears white gloves. He wears his hitai-ate over his mouth, but each of the four lines in the Kirigakure symbol are painted red and with a line carved horizontally through the metal plate. Personality: While still somewhat patient, Hiromasa becomes extremely furious when provoked. He is still an intelligent and thoughtful person, but scorns most human contact, preferring to stick with what few people he's managed to connect to. He is not afraid to resort to violence or other brutal means; it's always been the easiest way to get other people to understand him. Combined with his Kekkei Genkai, this has left him completely unafraid of physical contact, in spite of his reclusive nature. He can rarely bring himself to harm children or (non-summoned) animals. Weapons Weapon Name: The Needle of Infinite Skies [iWeapon Description:[/i] A long, black umbrella with a metal tip. It has a curved wooden handle, expertly carved with intricate writing all over it. Photo of Weapon (Optional): Range: 2m reach overall Special Abilities (If Any): Has a hidden 4in blade in the tip, allowing it to be used like a shortspear, and is chakra-infused, making it incredibly tough. There's also a series of wires extending from Hiromasa's right arm, attached to the umbrella, allowing him to open and close it with a slight gesture, as well as store it in his robes or take it out with a flick of his wrist. It also makes it much harder to disarm him. Kekkei Genkai Kekkei Genkai Clan Name: Kawaguchi Clan Village of Origin: Kirigakure Jutsu name (optional): Paths to the Inner Self Clan Jutsu: Holders of the Path, as they are called, have a highly overdeveloped chakra system. However, they are much more dependent on their chakra system than normal humans. While they naturally have a higher chakra reserve, a good portion of this is as vital to the body as blood, so most only have a slightly larger effective pool than normal ninja. As a side effect, their physical body is less vital. They can take much more of a beating, and are excellent healers, even capable of regrowing lost limbs. Holders of the Path often live to be 140 years old, only starting to show their age at about 80. Clan Limit: None, since it is passive. The Kawaguchi Clan is mostly wiped out. Weakness: Gentle Fist is effective against them, and sealing off the chakra paths on a severed limb prevents it from regrowing, even slowing down the healing process. The chakra system is much thicker everywhere – including the brain. Often, the chakra paths impede nerves in the brain, creating the potential for a host of neurological problems. Hiromasa has partial facial paralysis and constantly shaking hands. He is also partially mute; he cannot form words very well at all, but he can repeat what others say just fine. Jutsus All Basic Jutsu, Kage Bunshin and Kai Ninjutsu Sanjuu Kuchiyose (Threefold Summoning) Rank: B Element: Neutral Range: N/A Type: Offensive, Defensive, Supplementary Effect: Hiromasa can summon three different beasts, each a Lord among their kind. A tiger that controls water, a giant hercules beetle that commands earth and an enormous crocodile that has conquered fire. Each knows a pair of elemental jutsu, in addition to the basic jutsu. The tiger, Nagataka, knows Baku Suishouha and Suirou. The beetle, Daichi, uses Retsudo Tenshou and Doryuu Heki. The crocodile, Genkichi, has mastered Gouryuuka and Housenka. Nagataka also bridges the gap between Hiromasa and everyone else, so he is the only summon Hiromasa keeps around. He can summon other tigers, beetles or crocodiles, but these three are his favored summons. Notably, he can summon beetle shells, or replace the blade on his umbrella with a claw or beetle horn. Stormborn Grave Rank: A Element: Wind/Lightning Range: Long Type: Offensive Effect: Most of the time, instead of summoning to help out in a battle, Hiromasa breaks out this jutsu. First he floods the environment with wind chakra, attracting a large number of clouds. Then he focuses his lightning chakra and stimulates his released wind chakra. The result is a small tornado focused on his target (or group of targets), mostly to hold them in place while he releases several deadly lances of electricity at them. Lightning Release: Thunderclap Decapitation Wave Rank: B Element: Lightning Range: Medium Type: Offensive Effect: Hiromasa's favored jutsu for attacking. After the hand seals, Hiromasa unleashes the wave from between two hands clapped together. It's a flat wave of electricity, accompanied by a thunderous noise, radiating in one general direction, electrocuting and cutting anything it catches. Lightning Release: Bird-Snatching Spider Approach Rank: C Element: Lightning Range: Long Type: Offensive, Supplementary Effect: One of Hiromasa's few nonlethal jutsu. It unleashes several tendrils of lightning that strike those nearby with incredible accuracy, stunning most and paralyzing the weak. Victims are usually stunned for just a few seconds, but if someone was weak enough to be paralyzed it can last several minutes. Repeated application has a chance of paralyzing even stronger foes. Wind Release: Plain-Sweeping Howl Rank: B Element: Wind Range: Long Type: Offensive, Supplementary Effect: A loud, powerful jutsu. Hiromasa unleashes the loudest shout he can manage, and a tornado-like wind sweeps out around him. He can focus it in one direction for a more potent attack. Wind Release: Great Breakthrough (Fuuton: Daitoppa) Rank: C Element: Wind Range: Medium Type: Offensive Effect: A Ninjutsu technique which utilizes the Wind Element. After bringing his hand to his mouth, Hiromasa will blow a large blast of wind capable of leveling almost anything in its way. A variation of the technique involves a smaller blast of wind which gets ignited with flame, if Genkichi is there to help. RP Sample Hiromasa was on a mission near Kumogakure. Akatsuki had caught wind of some Shinobi banding together against them, and Hiromasa was to exterminate them before they became a threat. He was walking near the border of Kumogakure with his Tiger summoned. He was wearing his Akatsuki uniform, knowing that could draw them out. Just as he thought, a group of four Shinobi soon confronted him, each well-equipped and looking for a fight. “Well, looks like one of them had the guts to show up here!” their impromptu leader declared. Hiromasa did not respond, instead staring at them for a few seconds. “Well, you're Akatsuki, aren't ya? You're wearing the right stuff!” the leader said. You're going to die first, cretin... Hiromasa thought at the Leader. “Hiromasa-sama is here to kill you,” the Tiger said. Hiromasa could do little more than give an affirmative grunt. This caused them to burst out into laughter. “HA! Here to kill us?! Can you even speak?!” the leader said between laughs. Here we go, Hiromasa thought, already bringing his hands together for his hand-seals. “It's not wise to make fun of Hiromasa-sama,” the Tiger responded. As quickly as he could, Hiromasa focused his chakra, performing Thunderclap Decapitation Wave. And the laughter turned into screams. Edited by Iethloc, Feb 25 2009, 12:14 AM.

Terribly overpowered to the point of lunacy, but I don't think I can really get you to do anything about it. At least take out his taijutsu, isn't he supposed to be physically frail? Or is he a master of godly ninjutsu and his own special taijutsu despite his clan's physical drawbacks? Where's the cons with this profile? He's a mute and shakes sometimes? Come on, seriously. I said I wanted him to not be S-Class, but if you insist on making him S-Class power with single jutsus that can flatten structures and cut through steel, I really don't know what to say. You're a good roleplayer and it's a good profile, but that doesn't excuse trying to make your own original Akatsuki-level-of-power character. I don't mind you having the uniform, but christ you've got the power level too, you're definitely S-Class with this stuff. |

It's not the clan that lacks muscle, it's just him. And I'll tone down the jutsu descriptions. I was going off Gouryuuka, a B-rank fire jutsu, which was described as being able to punch through concrete. |

Then say or trees, or people, not entire structures, that implies cityscapes. It's your descriptions that terrify me. And if being physically frail isn't one of the clan's drawbacks, what is? Being mute and trembling a little? I mean, you can't have your cake and eat it too, something has to give.

The clan's drawback is just about any neurological problem, as well as a weakness against any technique that targets the chakra system - like Gentle Fist. There's also their bad reputation, but that's mostly just in Kirigakure. |

Cut out the structures thing anyway, I know you said fragile, but honestly, what are we talking? Teepees? Just cut out all mention of structure flattening, it's too 'semantics'. |

How would he know Akatsuki is there? Or learn from them? There were only three Akatsuki in Amegakure during the nine years before Shippuden. The rest had scattered and didn't seemed to rarely communicate outside their partners till Naruto was about 13, when they started to meet again. Even the people living in Amegakure don't really know what Akatsuki is or what it's for. And how did he get IN to Amegakure? Or gain their trust? Remember, they'd endured years and years of war from outsiders, so how could he gain their trust enough to stay a high rank amongst them? He'd more than likely be demted to Genin till he was a trusted and proven nin... \ How did he manage to pass the Genin and Chunin years without any Genin or Chunin jutsus? O_o |

"All Basic jutsu" are the Genin jutsu, and C-ranks are Chunin/Genin level jutsu, the last time I checked. He wouldn't be the first ninja to get into Amegakure from another village. There was at least one ninja who defected from Konohagakure to Amegakure. I'll see if I can pull up his name. It was Aoi Rokusho. Edited by Iethloc, Feb 25 2009, 12:25 AM.
