The distraction crimes had begun almost an hour ago. Bank alarms blared all across the city, and fires raged on Roosevelt Island. That should be enough to keep most, if not all, the civil services busy for the rest of the day.
His mask set in a permanent frown, the tall man strode through the doors of the Museum. He passed the ticket booth, determinedly moving for the collection of meteor rocks the museum had just acquired. A burly security guard moved to stop him.
"Hey, mac. You wanna see the space rocks, you gotta buy a ticket," the man said.
The tall man looked down at the guard archly.
"Ticket? What need have I of a ticket?"
The guard frowned, and reached under his hat to scratch the crown of his head.
"Look, pal, it's the rules. You wanna go in, you gotta buy a ticket."
Deathlicon stared down at him for a long moment, until the guard began to squirm slightly under his gaze.
"I have never been one for obeying rules," the supervillain said slowly,"and this is no exception. I do as I please. I am Deathlicon. This world is my domain. Remember that name in the afterlife."
With that, the tall man swept his hand forward, the energy of his gauntlet already charging, and unleashed a low-intensity particle blast at the security guard. The man was vaporized before he had a chance to scream. This was going to be easy.
Making his way to the back of the museum, Deathlicon quickly located the display he was searching for. He brought his fist down on the glass casing, shattering it, then reached in and fished out the rock, and placed it in a special containment bag slung at his side, he turned and moved toward the security room, vaporizing several more guards on the way. Upon reaching the room, he ramped up the power settings in his gauntlets slightly, and raked his particle beams across the room, destroying everything in a shower of sparks and several small explosions. Leaving the room once he was finished, Deathlicon proceeded back the way he had come, spotting security cameras along the way, and disintegrating them as well. No one would know he had been there. Not if he could help it.
