Help, I have done it again
I have been here many times before
Hurt myself again today
And, the worst part is there's no-one else to blame

Eyes: Icy Blue
Hair: Medium Blonde
Skin: Lightly tanned.
Height/Build: 6'1"
Wings, Horns, Tattoos, Other Markings: John is completely covered in scars from his many battles with others. Humans, demons, even angels have left their mark on him. He is covered in tattoos, most of them some form of protective spell or mark. Some enhance his magical abilities while others keep demons from harming him. [At least, harming him TOO badly.]
Clothing Types: John's preferred clothes are slacks, a white pressed button down, a tie, and a trench coat. He will occasionally wear jeans and tee shirts, but not often. The colors he prefers to wear are lighter tans and greys. His slacks can be in blue, green, brown, or black, ties to match. The trenches are often a khaki or a brown. On rare occasions you'll find him in a faded deep green trench.
Overall Appearance: John has short spiky blonde hair, about a day's worth of stubble on his chin at any given time, and a sour expression. His build is not overly tall, but he's not short either, rather average. He is lean, but somewhat muscular, even for a man of his age.

He walks with a confidence that he doesn't actually feel a good majority of the time, but it's hard to remember that when watching him. His body language is that of an arrogant asshole, and he's earned the name of 'conman' for a reason. Often, he can be found leaning up against a wall or streetlamp regarding those around him, his expression sour, arrogant, and disdainful.

Most of the time you'll find him with a cigarette in one hand and a bottle of beer or glass of something stronger in the other.

Take the hate in me now.
Fill it up within your veins.
Mind the stray thoughts of life.
They grow dimmer every day.

LIKES

  • Alcohol
  • Cigarettes [Silk Cut, and NO others]
  • The Occult
  • Money
  • What few family and friends he has left [even if they won't speak to him]

DISLIKES
  • Heaven [God in particular. John says he has a lousy sense of humor]
  • Satan
  • Most religion/religious things, unless being used in ceremonies for summonings/etc.
  • His father
  • Those friends/family he has left being hurt.
  • Being expected to 'pay up' for things he feels he had no part of.

STRENGTHS
  • Manipulating people
  • Magic
  • Occult Knowledge
  • Conning people out of their money, houses, friends, and anything else he finds useful.
  • Uncanny knack for anything supernatural, though he still does 'flub' up.

WEAKNESSES
  • Insecure
  • Sex
  • Addicted to alcohol and cigarettes
  • His family/friends [use them/threaten them, and he loses track of his goals]
  • Slight issues [fear] with demons, devils, and the higher ups in Hell. [Doesn't stop him from tricking them/conning them/pissing them off....]

Hobbies: Manipulating people, collecting ancient tomes for 'new' spells, anything 'unsavory' in others eyes.
Pets: None.
Overall Personality: John's personality leaves much to be desired. He is a crude, crass, and arrogant son-of-a-bitch who thinks of himself and no one else -- usually. He looks down on most of humanity, thinking them too stupid and foolish. His personality is such that he has no qualms about using others, and more often than not this includes his friends. Only rarely does he feel remorse, and only if something truly bad happens to those he was using.

He does harbor a great deal of guilt over the first attempt he did at summoning a demon, as it resulted in a little girl being dragged to hell. This softer, guilty side is rarely seen, though he does still take it hard when he loses friends and even just closer acquaintances. He always has a snarky comeback for people who snap at him, he's always read for a fight, and he loves a good smoke and beer.

Beware his darker side, which rarely shows, but when it does, be prepared to pay for it. His temper is such that he's been known to curse someone, and though he may regret it later, in the heat of the moment, he won't give a damn.

Oft times this, as well as his bad habit of conning and using people, earns him more enemies than friends, and even those he calls friends will many times turn on him.

Crossed the path of what was undetermined lives.
Killed the road to their salvation.
Now I hear them in the darkness as they cry.
I will never feel elation.

Family/Friends: Mother -- deceased, name unknown.
Thomas Constantine -- Father, deceased.
Cheryl Masters -- Sister, deceased.
Gemma Masters -- Niece.
The Demon Constantine -- relation complicated. Constantine's 'evil' portions of his soul, in a separate body.

Angie Spatchcock -- former friend.
Chas Chandler -- former best mate. Current status of friendship unknown.

Enemies/Arch Enemy: Lucifer [Satan, using LU's name], pretty much the whole of Hell.
Title: Bastard. Arrogant asshole... the list of 'titles' he has gained from others goes on and on.
Overall History: John's life story is a long and complicated one. Born on 10 May, 1953, to Thomas Constantine, he immediately earned his father's hatred. Why? His mother died in childbirth, leaving Thomas alone to raise John and his older sister Cheryl.

Brought up in the working class areas of Liverpool, he had a hard life. His father, missing his mother and hating his lot in life, lost himself in drink and vented a good portion of his anger and hatred on John. In the early 60s, they were sent to live with other relatives when John's father hit the lowest point in his life--sentenced to 6 months in prison for stealing ladies underwear. John's time with the relatives was not pleasant, but it was educational. Stumbling on a set of bones, and an odd red stone in them that he was convinced was a fossilized heart, he took the 'heart' with him. Time passed, and John's behavior started to change, becoming more angry, defiant, and violent. Convinced it was the heart, he decided to get rid of it. Throwing it into a nearby quarry, and hoping that would be the last of it, he proved to have poor aim. The stone hit, and went straight through, the roof of a shack where a scary old hermit lived. When the hermit didn't come out, despite the noise, John became convinced he'd killed the old man accidentally.

Back with his father, things remained the same for quite some time. By the age of 14, John had developed quite an interest in the occult, and had began to collect books and to study every bit of it he could find. It was the only escape from the harsh reality that surrounded him. It wasn't long though, before John and his father came head to head in a confrontation. Having been thrown out of a school because he'd started a chant at morning assembly, 'Out demon, out!', his father became furious. Starting a bonfire in their backyard, he took all of John's books and burned them.

John was able to salvage a few charred and smoke damaged tomes, and from those tomes he found a curse to put on his father. It would cause his father to wither away slowly and die. Not thinking it would actually work, he decided to try it. Catching the neighbor's cat, he killed it, placed the curse on his father, and buried the cat's body in the back yard. When Thomas began to sicken and waste away, he was satisfied. But when his father continued to waste away and was near death, he panicked... Searching for a cure, he soon found there was no reversal to what he'd done. In sheer desperation, he dug the body up and preserved it in a jar of formaldehyde. It seemed to work, and his father recovered. Though he never regained his health back fully, the deterioration stopped.

Roughly a year later, John ran away, and headed to London. Though he was there only a short time, partly due to fear and partly thanks to the Police depositing him back in Liverpool where he belonged, it was quite memorable, thanks in part to a creature of the Dreaming attempting to free her lord Morpheus.

Having found what he considered his home, John was back in London within 12 months, this time for good. Living with his best mate, Chas Chandler, he was finally able to devote much of his studies to magic, and quickly insert himself into circles of those with similar talents and interests. Eventually he started his own band, Mucous Membrane, and though they sucked, they did have a devoted following. While he was busy playing rock star, his sister was giving birth to her first child, Gemma.

Eventually, John abandoned the band, knowing they were shite, and began practicing in the occult again. Returning to the scene of his old band's first gig, he was there to help the owner, who had the misfortune of having a fear elemental take up residence in the basement. Confident and cocky, John blundered severely, which resulted in a young girl being dragged to hell, and landed him in Ravenscar for some time. He suffered greatly there, as the staff believed he was a child murderer. He was finally released for good when a gangster by the name of Harry Cooper pulled strings. It seemed he wanted help with bringing his dead son back to life, and thought John was just the one to do it.

Fast forward twenty five years, through all sorts of adventures [and mis-adventures], the loss of most of his friends, family, and self-respect, and you'll find that little has changed about John. He's still an arrogant asshole, he's still using others for his own purposes, and he's still pissing everyone off. Always ready with a cutting remark at the most inappropriate of times, and a savage retaliation for anyone who would do him or those he cares about wrong, he is John Constantine.

Taking a drag from his cigarette, John regarded the little toadie in front of him, his lips curling in a sneer. Small fry like this always irked him. They thought they were hot shit on a silver platter, when all they really were was cold turds on a paper plate. He regarded the small squat demon for another moment, then ground the cigarette butt into it's forehead.

"Like I said before. I ain't interested in talking to a little asswipe like you. You go get your master, and then I'll talk. You don't do that, I'll just leave now, and you can be the one to explain to him why he's not been informed of a little.... development... until it's practically on his doorstep."

The demon hemmed and hawed at him, jabbering in English, and it's own demonic language, but still refused to let him by, or to go get it's master. John rolled his eyes, shrugged, then turned on his heels and left the expansive house. The demon had a human master, one who'd pissed off the wrong angel, and that angel was on his way to deliver some divine kick ass. John didn't normally take sides, but he'd figured this particular human would be good to have owing him a favor. Too bad the little prick hadn't cooperated and let him see the man.

He continued down the pathway to where Chas was waiting in his cab. He owed his old friend for this, since the older man had been less than enthusiastic about driving him since John had gotten his other cab wrecked. He hopped in the back seat, scowling. "Let's go, Chas... they didn't want to hear it. Little prick of a 'butler' wouldn't do anything other than take a message. Eh. His funeral."
