With millions of German warriors dead, and the once glorious country reduced to rubble, Germany was divided into four occupational zones. The United States, France and the United Kingdom would oversee the development of Western Germany, while the East would fall to the Soviets. The people of Germany were oppressed by the occupying allied forces, though certainly those who remained in the East had the worst lots. For a great deal of time, Germany was one of the most important frontiers in the Cold War between the emerging superpowers of the USA, and the USSR. With the fall of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics also came the reunification of Germany under a democratic state, and a free market. For a brief stage in time, the West applauded Germany's efforts to become a full fledged democracy, and there was much cooperation between Germany and her conquerors. With time, however, this relationship between Germany and the West would crumble, and the shadow of turmoil and strife would loom over not only the country, but the world itself. With the emergence of the United Nations, and the European Union came a reactionary backlash in the Federal Republic of Germany. Many Germans still retained nationalistic sentiments, and cringed at the idea of becoming incorporated into a supranational entity. As a result, the people clamored for a more independent Germany, and turned to Die Nationalistische Partei Deutschlands in an effort to stop Germany's movement towards the United Nations, and the European Union in particular. While there was a threshold for party formation in Germany at the time to prevent extremist parties such as the Nazi party from gaining power, Germany's nationalist party garnered enough support to become a legitimate political party. The dominant parties of Germany reacted to this situation with outrage, and attempted to censure the voice of Die Nationalistische Partei Deutschlands. Many supporters were arrested, and Western journalists reported the violation of human rights on the part of the major parties of Germany. These horrendous actions alienated the German people from the major democratic parties, and the Nationalist Party of Germany won the election for the position of Federal Chancellor. Felix Eberhardt became the Chancellor of Germany, and quickly monopolized federal power. Denouncing the Chancellor as a power hungry tyrant, the democratic parties of Germany led an uprising in an attempt to overthrow the nationalistic government. Over the course of three months, the rebellion was put down, and the leaders responsible for the civil war were either imprisoned or executed. Felix Eberhardt and the rest of Die Nationalistische Partei Deutschlands then set to work developing a new constitution. One which created another German Monarchy. While there were indeed high levels of political opposition to this move, the Nationalist Government's clear monopoly on force, and their willingness to exercise that power silenced all opposition. In the year 2013, the country became known as the Kingdom of Germany. The Chancellor then changed his title to Kaiser, and married his wife who is a member of the Hohenzollern Dynasty in order to suit this change. Felix Eberhardt thus became an official member of the Hohenzollern line, and the Emperor of Germany. Under Kaiser Felix Eberhardt , the government expressed openly its desire to retake the territories of the once grand German Empire which it had been bereft of as a result of Western interference. The state once again became highly militarized, and the economy, though capitalist, was characterized by high levels of state control, aimed at the creation of an autarky. Germany sponsored the formation of Fascist governments throughout the world, notably intervening on the behalf of the Orgoglio di Italia party. Following the Kingdom of Germany's initial militarization, it called for talks of unification with Denmark. With the potential for a bloody invasion, and little foreign support, the General Secretary of the Danish Socialist Party was forced to agree to a treaty with Germany, which produced a union that became known as The Empire of Lesser Germany. These aggressive actions, and the nationalist character of the government have led many to denounce Germany as a Nazi state, however there is little evidence to suggest that the state has taken an official policy in favor of racial discrimination, or ethnic cleansing. In fact, the Empire has done much to encourage cooperation between all of the people of Germany, coining the phrase "Wir sind Deutsche zuerst" or, "We are Germans first". Major Cities
