The rules that the former creator of this particular game had up are awesome ones, and I'm only going to add and change a bit, since I feel they more than cover what I'm looking for in a player here. New or changed rules will be highlighted in RED to draw attention to them. Rules that I feel are especially important to read will be in GOLD

THE RULES

Yes, you have to read them.
Yes, they are important. And
yes, there is a super secret
phrase inside that you have to
know. So basically...read!

GENERALLY!

RESPECT AND OBEY THE STAFF. This should be written in everyone's mind - I don't tolerate disrespect. I try not to get on to anyone, but sometimes it's necessary. If I ask you to stop doing something, just stop doing it. Don't start getting all rebellious and angsty. Come on. Consequences on this will vary depending on circumstances, but if it continues incessantly I can promise you I am not afraid to ban people.

BE TOLERANT AND MATURE. I know that not everyone is going to get along and not everyone is going to see eye-to-eye, but nevertheless that does not give anyone the excuse to be rude or mean. If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all. Seriously. I really can't stand OOC fights, it irks me like crazy. So I don't want to see them, okay? If you wish to settle a matter in a mature fashion, please take it over pms. NOT IN THE CBOX! And if you cannot resolve it, contact a staff member, or mod of this game.

DON'T GO CRAZY WITH CURSES. I don't mind cursing here and there. It's fine, we're not children. But I'll tell you something that I don't find very pretty, or mature - frankly I think it's a little stupid. I don't like a million curse words all together. It's annoying and unbecoming. So yeah. A little bit is fine. Just don't go overboard, and you're good.

JOINING!

ABOUT THE TEMPLATE. Fill it out completely, and nicely. I want detailed descriptions, good quality paragraphs, and some of your best writing, if you please. Take your time and make it worthwhile. If you don't and you slap it together we may just deny it, and what would the point in that be? If something doesn't apply to you, mark it with "N/A" or delete it if instructed to.

NO ROLEPLAYING UNTIL. You are prohibited from roleplaying, or participating in plotting charts, posting in cell phones, im, etc., or claiming anything for your character, until your application has been accepted. If you're found doing this anyway the posts you've made will be deleted without warning.

FOR THE CANONS. If you are joining as a Canon, first make sure to reserve it in the Canon thread. After you have reserved it, you only have four days in which to finish your application. If you haven't finished it by that time, then I will deny your app and move it to the correct section. There are no exceptions - these are canons, and are wanted by more than one person. If you're going to be gone and you haven't finished, it will still be denied. Sorry. Four days is plenty of time to complete an application. If it is accepted, I will modify the canon thread appropriately. I will be tougher on Canon apps than on Original apps. Also, with that being said, major characters in the movie are preferred to be played by who they were played by in the movie, though if you find someone I think fits I'll allow it... but that will be RARE. For example, Bella should be played by Kristen Stewart, unless I approve someone else. Get it? Got it? Good.

ROLEPLAYING!

WE'RE LITERATE, FOLKS. Meaning? This roleplay is not for beginners. More along the lines of advanced to novella. Sorry, guys, we're not hating on all of you who are new to the roleplaying world, or who don't write very good quality posts, yet, but that's just how it is. You should try three to five para posts. This is a not a rule, and won't be enforced BUT... two is the absolute minimum for this game. Everyone can find at least two paragraphs worth of post per reply. Even when there's not much going on. Shorter posts will get you three warnings, then you'll be asked to practice RP with one of the staff on L & L before you post IC again.... All roleplayers and writers know that it's all ultimately about quality, not quantity. Good writing is concise and functional, but flourishes do add to the overall appeal of the story and characters. If you have trouble posting longer posts quickly, but can do them, that's fine! Take your time, but do keep the minimum required posting in mind when doing so....

MINIMUM POSTS PER WEEK. Just what the caps section says. There is a minimum of 7 posts a week required. That's like... one post a day, peeps. That's not very much, really. If you can't keep to this, I may still consider you, but you'll need to be aware that if you're involved in main plots and threads that I WILL NPC your character until you can begin to post again. Especially canons. Canons must MUST MUST be able to post AT LEAST 7 posts a week. It isn't fair to others who are on and posting all the time to be stuck waiting for you to post once or twice a week, if that. Sorry, but I don't want the game to die and inactive canons is the fastest way TO that.

GRAMMAR & SPELL CHECK. Cherish the spell check. It was put there for a very good reason. Cherish the word count. It too was put there for a very good reason. Also, I'm pretty sure we've all attended English class - use your grammar skills, people! And if you want to occasionally spruce up your posts, I recommend Thesaurus.com.

TAG YOUR POSTS! It's simple. To avoid confusion or annoyance when someone you didn't want replying to your post replies to it, tag your posts. Either with the name(s) of the people you want to reply, or with an 'open' tag, therefore people know that anyone can reply

THIRD PERSON ROLEPLAY. Third person only in the RP itself. Want to start a journal? That's where first person will be welcome. Really, the main reason for the change is that all the mains thus far are more comfortable with third, and the RP will flow better if we all stick to one or the other. But, as stated, journals for your character are perfect if you want/need to write something in first person!

GET A PLAY BY. Make sure that you have a play by - also known as 'face' - for your character when you join. You can use models, actors, even musicians if you must for your character. It isn't very difficult at all to find one - there are quite a few sites dedicated to that type of thing. This is just one of the sites where you can find a play by. If you want help, or need suggestions, ask Immortal Beloved .

There is no real secret phrase. BUT, to show that you've read these, you need to PM Immortal Beloved .

BEHAVE YOURSELVES. I don't want to see god-modding. Or powerplaying. Or mary-sues/gary-stus. All of these things are completely banned. So what are these things? God-modding usually occurs in a fight, when your character, no matter how many times your opponent strikes out, is never, ever harmed. That's not realistic. I don't care how good your character is. They can't not ever be harmed! Powerplaying is either when your character always strikes and hurts a character without fail, or when you kill a character without permission, or when you enforce your character's will upon others. (For example, don't have your character pick up someone else and throw them.) Mary sues and Gary stus are perfect characters. No one is perfect. Don't make your character perfect. See the article I wrote about it HERE. Please be aware that the document is copyright to myself and my brother and may not be used ANYWHERE without our permission.
