He sat in his office, gripping the bottle of Sake in his left hand while looking out over the room. He grinned the way he usually did when slightly less than sober, his cheeks going bright red from the amount he had drank. He looked at the table before him, covered in reports he was supposed to of finished by now, maybe he had taken after Shunsui much more than he should of, but he got a lot of his strength from the training he had with the ex captain so he didn't mind it to much. He blinked, and sat properly on his seat, wondering where his vice captain was so he could delegate the work to them, but they where no where to be seen.

"Well... fine then... I guess I better get started on these before Captain commander has by guts!"

He said with a smile as he began to fill in the reports of the time he had been on earth as of late and other such information that needed filled in.

Momo quietly entered the 5th squad headquarters; a building that she basically considered her home after all the years she had spent in it. It was sometimes strange to think about...that over the past centuries she had been in the same place, watching it change and grow. Despite some of the dark times she could associate with squad five, though, it was always where she was happiest too. It was where she belonged.

As she wandered down the hallway, the the petite shinigami couldn't help but notice that it was rather calm and empty at the moment. That usually meant one of two things. Everybody was out doing work, or no work had been given yet. Deciding that it was probably better to be in the know, she turned the corner and headed towards the captain's office. Another place she knew very well, but had also changed quite a bit.

Soon enough, Momo was standing outside the wooden door and she knocked her hand lightly upon the frame. "Ano, excuse me...Roku-taichou?" she called out politely, wondering if he was even in.

He had been at it for a few hours, filling in report after report to the point his hands had began to ache, and he had a slight fear that they would end up stuck in the position they were in. “That would really not aid in using you don’t you think Rekka?!” He asked his zanpaku-to, a smile crossing his lips as he stretched out and leaned back on his chair. “Ken’ichi, you are a taichou now, with all your responsibilities your sitting their complaining about filling in a few sheets of paper!” He felt a laugh come to the surface as he turned to look at his avatar, the beautiful woman he called Rekka Boufuu. “I know I know, it’d help if my lieutenant would get here already, I wonder where Momo is!”

He could feel her coming down the corrider of the fifth squad headquarters, his smile widened, he always like speaking with his lieutenant, she was quite wise, though extremely shy in her ways. He wondered if he would ever meet someone more polite and caring, despite everything she had been through in her past. He remembered his time under Aizen as well, he was the third seat of that man for so long, and when Momo had gotten ill he had taken up fifth squad responsibilities for a while, its how he ended up in the position he was now in.He had a lot of respect for her though, she was so powerful, and her loyalty was second to no other.

“Ah, hello there Momo, how many times have I told you just to call me Ken’ichi, we’ve known each other so long there is no need for such things as calling me taichou” He said continuing to smile, a huge pile of paper work sitting to the right of him that he had just filled out.

At the sound of his voice, Momo slid the wooden door open, though just her head popped in at first, giving her captain a friendly smile. "Gomen, tai...I mean, Ken'ichi," she said, already correcting herself with a light laugh. "I guess old habits really are hard to break," she continued, stepping fully into his office, before gently closing the door behind her. What he said before was true enough, though. Save for Toshiro, and a few others, Ken'ichi was one of the shinigami she had known the longest during her time in Seireitei. Even for the time when she was technically the superior ranking officer, he had always looked after her, and the rest of the division, which earned him everybody's respect and trust. When she found out he was nominated for the captain position, she was truly happy. It made the process of her finally detaching from Aizen so much easier because it was a good friend replacing him.

Momo walked up to his desk, pausing just a couple feet away, and seemingly observing what he had been doing. A few seconds later, her lips curved into another smile. "Well, I must admit, I'm proud to see you've started the paperwork without me," she said, in a gently teasing tone. However, now that was closer, to the noticed the faint color in his cheek, and after that it didn't take her long to see the sake bottle in front of him. With a small sigh, she snatched it away and gave it a small shake, seeing how much of it was gone. "As much as I admired Shunsui-san, I hope you don't turn out too much like him, Ken'ichi," she said, with a pointed look, though it was obvious she wasn't actually mad. Though Momo had been one who sometimes listened to Nanao's "horror" stories about the former captain.

He smiled as he noticed her try to correct herself, she was extremely cute at times in his eyes, or was that just the habits of shunsui coming out in him again, he dissipated the thought away with a cough and finished one last report with a signature. His head rising to look upon his lieutenant once more, his smile returning across his lips. “I know what you mean Momo, the transitions been quite difficult for me to get used to as well.” He leaned back in his chair once more, intertwining his fingers behind his head. “It seemed only yesterday that I was the third seat of your squad. Things where so much simpler, yet complicated as hell back then!” He said, allowing himself a gentle laugh at the history that was the fifth squad. “For the longest time this squad seemed cursed with bad luck. I just hope I have better luck than the past captains!” Speaking the two he had known before him, one turned into a viazard, the other, well its best not getting into that.

He blushed, and this time not as a response to the sake, but to the fact that she had told him she was proud of him, he had always thought so highly of her, and the fact she had of him was amazing to him. “Thank you, just doing my job Momo, I figure if I get them finished quickly enough I can relax and maybe we can do some catching up?” She was beautiful to him, the perfect specimen of female, truly. When she took his sake though, he sighed gently, as if complaining about it, but he didn’t mind too much, it was one of the things he had never fully gotten used to, but he did love the relaxing feeling from time to time. “If I turn into half the captain he was, I would be doing a good job, I truly believe that, despite his love for the ladies, especially that of Nanao. Though I can kind of understand certain loves of lieutenants” Blushing once more, as he spoke softly to her.

Momo gave a soft smile of understanding. There had been quite a stigma revolving around the 5th Division for some time (though the 3rd and 9th divisions went through something similar). Her thoughts momentarily wandered to Aizen briefly, whether she wanted them to or not. As horrible as that man was, he would always remain in a large part of her memories. However, her feelings on the subject were much more subdued now. All she was really thinking was that it was a...shame, that Aizen hadn't been the captain they all believed him to be. "Well, I may I have slightly biased opinion as your friend, but I think you're doing a great job," she assured him, with a sincere grin. "I know the division thinks the same, so we're all hoping to see you stick around as well," she added, with a light laugh, though the words were quite true.

The brunette girl leaned over the desk again, taking a pile of the completed papers and flipping through them briefly. As Momo had expected, they were all done just right, it was just her job as Lieutenant to check over these things. Besides, she had always liked reading, even if it was paperwork...it was almost like a habit of hers she had gained over the years. Her dark eyes looked up to Ken'ichi again, before taking a seat in front of him. "Do some catching up?" she repeated thoughtfully. "Not exactly one of our normal duties, but it's sounds like fun to me," she continued, with another smile. It was actually rather nice to think that it was peaceful enough around here that they had time to just enjoy simple things like talking.

Momo had began to quietly leaf through the forms again as he continued speaking, though she paused at his last sentence. She immediately looked up at him, trying to keep her expression normal, but her eyes widened ever so slightly. 'Did he...really just say...what I think he did?' she asked herself. The young woman suddenly felt somewhat nervous, but she tried to push it aside, and tried to look away subtly as she felt her face flush. "W-well, between you and me, I think half of Nanao-san's complaints were just for show. It was obvious how much she really cared for Shunsui-san," she said, unaware of the double-meaning in her own words.
