A random street in the Sky Line district. A rented ground-floor office with a simple sign saying "Private Eye". The first room, optimistically called the reception, is empty with the exception ofa desk with a chair and a phone; it's the secretary's day off, she'd said something about her niece. The door to the next room is open and reads:

Matthew Thorne
-Licenced P.I.-

Sitting behind his desk, his jacket slung over the back of the chair, is Matthew. Typing up a report on his laptop for the worst of his two current cases. The better one is a simple matter of a suburban housewife who thinks her husband's screwing around behind her back (he is). Matthew shifts back in his chair, a hollow creaking beneath him reminds him of the safe in the trapdoor below him, containing all the cash, paperwork and (when he's not using it) his laptop.

Closing the laptop he looks up to rest his eyes.

After his rather... interesting encounter at the black market, Ron decided to go down to the Sky Line District and tried to find something interesting to do. As he walked the streets, a seemingly empty store caught his eye. He went over and walked right in. It appeared to be an office of some sort, and this was the reception room. As his curiosity was peeking, he walked in the back and opened a door. He kept his hand at his gun as he walked in, unknowing of what he would find.

Hearing the door open, Matthew's hand darts to the pocket of his jacket more out of a developed instinct than any conscious effort, his hand closes around the gun handle just as the figure comes into view. By this point he's sitting a bit awkwardly, but looks more like he's trying to appear relaxed than anything else. He manages a tired smile at the guy in the doorway. Just one thought crosses his mind.

This guy's got at least forty pounds on me, probably more.

"Hi, how can I help?"

Ron noticed that the guy looked kind of tense, the same way he felt right about now. He slowly brought his hands into the air and calmly explained "I was just wondering what kind of business you ran here." Ron looked around in the room. He noticed a desk which had a laptop that the man was typing at. He also saw a old pine bookcase and a few folding chairs that were folded up on the wall.

As his hand was already in his jacket, Matthew decided to slip it on, letting the gun slip back in the pocket. Putting his arms through the sleeves he seemed to flick his shoulders and brought the jacket up to meet his back. Feeling a bit more secure (for all the good it did in this city) thanks to the familiar weight in his jacket pocket, he pointed to the door the guy had just come through.

"I'm a private detective."

His smile became an opportunisitc one, he stood up to stretch his legs.

"Got anything you want looking into?"

Seeing that I know nothing of his moral standings, I'm not going to ask him about my own investigating. Ron thought to himself. He began to wonder how useful an asset like this man could be, but he needs a test. "Yes I do, I know of a man by the name of Davie Evans. Anything you can find out about him would be wonderful." Ron began to examine his fingernails and then clenched them into a fist. "Money is no object," Ron said quietly, yet very angrily.

"Makes a change from the adultery and missing person cases I usually get."

Matthew stretched his back and leaned against the wall, going into business-mode for a moment.

"My rate is fifty dollars an hour, plus expenses. But don't worry, I'm not gonna go on a bender on your dime."

Matthew had heard the anger in the guy's voice, but ignored it, it wasn't his job to get personal.

"Do you know where he lives or where he works? As for reports, I'm guessing you don't wanna paper-trail."

"The only thing I know is his name and that he looks like this," Ron said as he pulled a picture out of his pocket. "I'm sorry, I know that he can be a pain."

"That's no problem, it'll just take a while longer."

Matthew reached out and took the photo.

"Looks loaded, he shouldn't be too difficult to find. Mind if I keep this?"

"Not at all," Ron said calmly. He thought to himself as he walked out have fun with your death sentence. He walked outside in the open air, took in a deep breath and looked around. "This nature thing is ugly, needs a little more... violence," he said rather maniacally. "Watch yourself Ron, no need to turn into a psychopath." He walked back through the city, looking for somewhere else to cause chaos.

As the guy left Matthew slid the photo into his pocket. It wasn't uncommon for clients to leave no contact information, some people wanted everything unofficial and would check in after a week or so to collect reports. Looking at the pine bookcase he remembered the micro-camera, the thing had been on the fritz recently, he'd have to remember to check if it'd recorded anything later.

Once he was sure the guy had left, Matthew pushed his chair back and picked up his laptop. Going to one knee he lifted the trapdoor and spinning the dial for the combination, he opened the safe. The safe was made of thick steel and he'd layed it on it's back so pulling it open required a bit of strength. Inside was a cashbox and some relatively neat files, Matthew slipped the computer in and let the door swing down. Spinning the dial and closing the trapdoor he stood up and moved the chair back into place.

Matthew had contacts in the police force, they weren't friends but rather guys he had incriminating information about, everyone in this city had at least been a suspect of something, with a photo and a name he could easily find a home address for this guy. Walking out of the office he pulled his gloves out of his pockets and put them on. He never bothered to lock the place, he'd only have to replace the windows later.

"Damn, nothing important left out," Ron said angrily. "Well, at least he'll know somebody is out for him." Ron knocked over the bookcase and spread the books out. "This wood will burn real easily," Ron said as he began to pour lighter fluid all over the bookcase and the books. After about ten minutes, he threw the containers in there. "Well, Mr. Thorne, have a nice day," Ron whispered. He walked to the other side of the room close to a window. He opened the window. It appeared to open up onto an alleyway. "Perfect," Ron whispered happily. He lit a match and threw it onto the bookcase. It exploded into flames. He jumped out the window and ran out the alleyway. He began to yell "Somebody call the fire department quickly!" Somebody whipped out their cell phone and called them. This is the typical pattern of Gregor Van Guren, the famous arsonist. If I'm lucky, he will get pinned.
