Citing the Phoenician attack on Israel as well as Byzantium’s on going territory dispute with the Phoenician Empire over Rhodes, Byzantium has invaded Phoenicia from the north. Not all Phoenician forces are deployed in the attack on the Golan Heights, however. Israeli forces have just arrived from India in the theater of war and as such they haven't yet managed to make direct engagement with any Phoenician or Egyptian forces.

(OOC:So the Phoenician forces are deployed in two threads eh? I assume my air attack will be coordinated with the Indian/Israeli ones) By the grace of almighty God: His most awesome and terrible majesty Emperor Adrastos I has decreed Phoenicia to be a dangerous aberration that must be brougth to heel. Since the time of Julius Caesar, the Eastern-Roman Empire has had territorial claim over Phoenicia, and now after years of waiting the Empire will regain our lost-lands. The Emperor Adrastos calls upoun the people of Phoenicia to lay down arms and the Empire will be beneficent to you. Ground forces: All Imperial ground forces will move south to Hims in order to consolidate their postion to launch an assault on Damascus later. Airforce: 600 Fighters of the Byzantine Airforce will engage the Phoenician airforce hopefully co-coordinating their attack with that of India. The remaining 150 Fighters and the Byzantine Bomber & B-Copter force will bombard the 1st Hoplite Corps. Reinforcements: Both Byzantine Corps will receive 500 Artillery reinforcements Edited by Maniakes, Dec 3 2008, 05:17 AM.

Byzantine forces will proceed as previously ordered, following the original battle-plan. Byzantium seeks to secure a decisive victory to ensure Phoenicia will present a much less vigorous threat in the future. |

The Phoenician Empire has formally collapsed, its government officials fleeing in exile, the independent and democratic Syrian and Jordanian governments that have taken power in their wake pledging solidarity and peace with Israel and the allied coalition and asking that the war be stopped. |

Byzantium considers it unlikely that a stable democratic government in Syria is possible in the wake of Phoenician militarism. Also the strength of radical Islamic parties in Syria is also a concern thus with no stable, legitimate central government in place in these territories Byzantium will assume full responsibility for restoring a proper order. Byzantine forces will proceed as previously ordered, following the original battle-plan. |

Syria alleges that moving forward will force Syria to file charges against the Byzantine Empire in the United Nations. Byzantium is clearly trying to cook up whatever excuses necessary for greedy conquest. This imperialism is terribly blatant and unacceptable. Both Syria and Jordan have stable governments that are far more supported by their people than the idea of Byzantine hegemony, are stable, and are not dominated by "radical Islamic parties". Syria and Jordan have no affiliation any longer to the previous governments and their motives and feel free to hand over said government officials to Israel and Byzantium. The Byzantine Empire's excuse was in defense of Israel, but now the government that attacked Israel is no longer in power and the war in Israel is moving forward into Egypt. Going any further Syria or Jordan is crossing the line could result in war crimes and violating UN charter. Syria and Jordan support each other's democracies and will turn to Israel, neighbors, the United States of America, the United Nations, the Free Arab Technological Front, Iran, and all others to help protect their democracies against blatant imperialism. |

(OOC:There has been at least two invasions where the governments NPC haven’t gone to the UN, and the Idea that Syria woulnt have a Baath'ist/Military Junta or Islamic goverment is far fetched )Byzantium acted to aid Israel, but we also seek to ensure our own Security the government in Damascus has no legitimacy, it is the remnant of a defunct state and will likely collapse into anarchy, civil war and despotism. Byzantium will not permit such events in the so-called state of Syria to endanger our own security and that of the wider region above all the Empire stands for order. [Why are you talking to me as OOC? You don't get to debate me, when I talk it's what the Syrians are saying. It could all be propaganda from a radical Muslim government or truth from a democracy, you don't get to debate it in OOC. Syria's saying what Syria's saying.] The government of Damascus is supported by the people and plan to hold democratic elections in a matter of months. A Byzantine fascist hegemony is not supported or popular among the Syrian people. You assume a Byzantine hegemony has more legitimacy in Syria than a SYRIAN government? How arrogant is your imperialism? Ensuring your own security by conquering all your neighbors is not something the UN Charter would support. |
