[Mosaic Earth] Discussion Thread

Here's where you can just talk about anything that has to do with Mosaic Earth: Schism. Be it compliments or criticisms, I value the input that the actual players of the game give me.

So, just to start this thing off, I'm going to give a very brief explanation of the game itself. Basically, a large, catastrophic effect has hit the US full storm, and in the ensuing chaos, the federal government lost control and states were left to fend for themselves.

I have been thinking of putting some concepts into the game to make it unique, such as movements and other types of strategic concepts. You can give your thoughts on this, well if you want to.

Negro please.

Looking nice, I'd sign up (as California) but I've realized as of late I barely have the time to run the site's concerns and my own RPs, let alone join new ones. Gotta focus on them first. :(

If you can't join, can you give advice, TFE? How did you get so many people to join your new Mosaic Earth? I know it has to do with your reputation as a mod of MEs, but I have to know :P

Since I'm thinking a US divided would effect all of North America, and if too many people join(A possibility seeing the amount of interest in MEs ;) ) , I could even add in the states of Mexico and Canada. But that's only if Schism gets popular enough, mind y'all.

I tried looking for some of TFEs old, dusty MEs for that taste of strategy he tried to put into them, but it seems that the upgrade wiped 'em all clean :(

I see you split California and Texas into two sections, which looks good, but why not Alaska? I mean, Alaska is the largest state by far, with a landmass about the equivalence of 1/3 the entire continental U.S.

I would say because Alaska has so little population

In framing a government which is to be administered by men over men the great difficulty lies in this: You must first enable the government to control the governed, and in the next place, oblige it to control itself.

Exactly my point. Very little would control the number 1 resource deposit in all the game.

But dividing the state up more would be a huge disadvantage for any Alaskan nation, since the state is sparesly populated. Plus, all the population is in the south of the state anyway.

I don't think you're counting the native Inuit and tribal nation populations in there, only official U.S. citizens.

I didn't consider that, but still, the population is infintesimally small. An Indepednant alaska will have a hard enough time providing for itself let alone having a resource monopoly

Yeah, I'll split that one side with that lonely Inuit fishing and the crazed logger on the other side. :sneaky:

Alaska's gonna be a bitch to play here. First, it's got a teeny tiny population, and an absolute assload of territory to cover. Second, and this is more important folks, it's about five hundred miles away from the rest of the U.S. If Alaska ever thinks about an invasion, that is one hell of a logistical train to support. Which leaves diplomacy as the only avenue for gains. Best of luck to ya, Alaska.

I'd suggest either cutting Alaska due to it’s distance from the mainland or include Canada in the map.

While it is true that you can lead a horse to water, but can't make it drink, a more useful saying would be, "More people are killed trying to have sex with one than you might think".

If we include Canada then wouldn't we have to cut it into many provinces since its concidered the second largest nation in the world.

Aswell as if we Cut alaska then we take alot of Potential power state away from the game.

after all its a major Oil mine in the US and im not sure on this part, but doesn't it still have some gold mines left?

Also if we had to Cut alaska then wouldn't we have to cut Hawai its even farther...

Yep. Alaska has damn good potential for political power. I was just pointing out that if whoever played Alaska wanted to conquer the continent, they'll have a hell of a time doing it. Of course it's being isolated from the rest of the U.S. could be a military advantage. Anybody trying to invade is going have the same long ass logistical train. Not to mention the climate and terrain of Alaska make it an attackers nightmare.
