The embassy for the United Supreme Union is a complex that is smaller than one would imagine. It is a 2 story building, and one would guess looking at it that it probably has a couple dozen offices, but no more. It fits the motif of almost every other government building: a dark red brick, jet black shingles and a exceptionally steep slanted roof. There are very large glass windows along the front side of the building, but along all other sides there are slightly smaller than normal windows. In order to gain access to the embassy proper, one must pass through a series of 2 checkpoints, and then a final gate. The first of the checkpoints houses a lone armed guard who reads over the paperwork of those who enter. The second checkpoint is significantly larger, holding at least 3 separate rooms. An armed guard stands at the ready by the door, and a tall gentleman wearing the instantly distinguishable robes of a High Priest sits inside the entrance. There are no discernible windows on the sides, although there are obviously sky lights in the ceiling because you can see the sunlight on the floor. The Priest asks all visitors to the embassy to recite "The Holy Vows to the Supreme Lord" before passing. Visitors who refuse to do so are recorded and their resistance is passed along to the Ambassadors. The final gate is guarded by another lone guard, who checks paperwork once more before opening the shiny, black gate. As people approach the main entryway to the embassy, they notice the relative lack of trees. There are a couple of decorative shrubs, but there are no large trees. Rumors in the Union are that nothing is done without purpose; people have proposed this was done to make the embassy look larger. Entering the embassy, one cannot help but notice the large portrait of the Supreme Lord that hags directly behind the receptionist's desk. The young woman there kindly greets all visitors and arranges their meetings for them. ================================ Key Personnel: Petras Ugne: Head Diplomat and Ambassador for the Union Priest Shymbaliov: High Priest for the Foreign Affairs Division Edited by supremelord, Oct 26 2008, 09:08 PM.

Dr. Homewood had memorised the necessary passage, as he was not here just to talk about the price of fish. "I vow to always strive to ensure the honor and might of His Holiness, the Supreme Lord. I vow never to act in a manner that shall jeopardize His divine plans. I vow to always hold myself in a manner that is appropriate for a visitor of the United Supreme Union." Dr. Homewood repeats the verse precisely and clearly and waits to see what the Priest says. ((OOC: FATF?)) |

(OOC: Sorry, copied that from earlier out of laziness...) The high priest graciously accepts the foreign visitor's recitation of the vows, and directs the guards to allow him entrance to the embassy. Once inside, he is greeted by the receptionist. Receptionist: Greetings and welcome to the United Supreme Union Embassy. What can I do for you today? |

Dr. Homewood: Hello, I'm here to speak with Petras Ugne to propose Australasia's entrance into AFWK and the adoption of the teachings of the Supreme Lord. He smiles brightly at the receptionist. |

It goes without saying that the Receptionist is absolutely delighted to hear this news. She calls over a guard and instructs him to escort the Ambassador to Mr. Ugne's office straight away. He becomes for the Ambassador to follow him, and then leads him down a hallway to an office near the back of the building. The opens the door and motions the Ambassador through. Ugne sees his door open and looks up. He sees the Ambassador coming through and stands up to greet him. Petras Ugne: Greetings Ambassador! I have been expecting this visit for quite some time! Please, have a seat. Is there anything that I can get for you? |

Dr. Homewood was delighted at the warm reception he received. He moved over to the seat and sat down. Dr. Homewood: Thank you, but I'm fine! Dr. Homewood quickly got down to business. Dr. Homewood As you may know, our nationstate currently has no national religion so the adoption of the teachings of the Supreme Lord will not be an issue. |

Ugne sits after the visitor, and listens intently to what he has to say. Petras Ugne: His Holiness is always glad to hear that more people around the world are reaching enlightenment through his teachings, and he will surely be pleased to hear that you are officially accepting his teachings as the national faith of Australiasia. However, acceptance into the AFWK is not as simple as that. Ugne leans back in his chair. Petras Ugne: First and foremost, the geographical location of your nation causes a major hurdle to the Union and the other members of the AFWK. Since it is a Mutual Defense bloc, we would certainly heed any call to help that you make should the time come, but you must understand that it is infintely more complex and difficult to send troops half way around the world to you then it is to send them to someone who is less than 100 km away! Do you have any thoughts on this matter? |

Dr. Homewood: Obviously this is a major hurdle. We are currently concentrating on expanding our armed forces. We'll have close to 100 transport aircraft which would take just 18 hours to reach Europe. Australasia is also developing nuclear capabilities so hopefully we would be able to hold our own until reinforcements arrived. The expansion of our military is our paramount concern so hopefully we will not be too much of a strain on your nation. |

Ugne doesn't like the wording the Ambassador uses. Petras Ugne: With all due respect, sir, we do not enter into formal alliances with nations that will be ANY strain on us! Our alliance benefits all of it's members, it doesn't cause strain! |

Dr. Homewood: Obviously that will be the case, and I highly doubt our nation will be involved in any military activity. What I mean by strain is the distance between our 2 nations, not our nation being a strain on your military or economy. We in no way plan on giving less than we take if we are accepted into your alliance. |

Ugne is pleased by this explanation. He makes a note to scald one of his aids for not reporting on this possible misunderstanding. Cultural research shall have to be increased. Petras Ugne: If that is the case, then let us discuss economics, the other part of the AFWK treaty. All of the nations within the alliance have a different government structure, which has made for a very delicate balance. We have been able, through careful negotiation, to create an alliance wide Stock Market. Is there anything about your economic policy that will need to be discussed in order to make it work with the rest of us? |

Dr. Homewood: We have a basic Stock Exchange system that could easily be incorporated into yours. Discussion would be needed with any Multi-Nationals about how they want to handle the additional shares but I'm sure none of them will have any objections due to the increased population for the overall stock exchange. However, as much as I can research, you will know your alliance better than me. Are there any points in particular you would like to discuss? |

Ugne removes a peice of paper from the file in front of him and hands it to the Ambassador. Petras Ugne: This outlines our current economic situation. Atredia and the Supreme Union are similar in that our governments maintain strict control over what flows in and out. Members of the union are allowed to buy and sell goods directly from government owned/controlled companies. The Northern Corperation is much more open, and so your goods should be able to be sold there at whatever cost your companies deem necessary and competitive. |

Dr. Homewood studies the document carefully. Dr. Homewood: I see. Our Economy is similar to that of The Northern Corporation. We run a Capitalistic Economy. All means of labour are available to any private business. Companies are free to set their prices and run any business they like and nationals from any company are free to set up a business. Obviously, monopolies are outlawed and there are minimum wage laws and all industries are regulated. Your companies would be free to set up business as they please. |

Ugne smiles slightly. Petras Ugne: If that is the case, Ambassador, then I feel that you would be an excellent addition to the AFWK. We will have the official paperwork sent to you at once. Now, there is one small thing I would like to ask of you: currently, the entire alliance as well as our neighbor Russia is working on a massive Ultra High Speed rail system as you no doubt are aware. Are we able to count on the assistance of Australian technicians and workers on this project? It obviously will not serve a direct benefit to you since we cannot physically connect our nations, but the increases in economic prosperity would be felt by all alliance members. |

The ambassador smiles widely. Dr. Homewood I am certain we will be able to help you out with technicians and workers as you need. We'd be pleased to accept your invitation to AFWK. Thank you very much! |
