The Embassy of the United States is a rather spartan affair, just a small office building, although the electric fence and U.S. Marines that guard it do tend to dispel any illusions about the normality of the place. Inside, the decor is typical of office buildings, which is to say, not much. Ambassador Proctor's office is in the heart of the building. |

OOC - I guess I win the race ;-) Edilson walks forward towards the secretarial pool, where a young attache is working furiously at their desk. He says in genteel English "Excuse me, I am requesting to speak with Ambassador Proctor. Is he available?" |

The Limo drove on through the gate and stopped in front of the building. As a Samurai warrior stepp out from the back. He waited for the official to come and speak to him. |

~Brazil~ "Yes, he's in his office. Let me tell him you're coming." Once Edilson reached the office, Proctor was waiting. "Greetings Mr. Edilson. It is always a pleasure to speak with representatives of Brazil." |

The Brazilian man smiled gratefully and shook hands with the American man before sitting own. "Thank you kindly for seeing me today, Ambassador Proctor. I hope I am not imposing in any way by calling on you today. I am here today on behalf of President Lula of the New Union to normalize relations with the United States by offering a non-aggression pact, a treaty of mutual defense, and a free trade agreement to your august nation." "We see the United States as a critical potential ally for Brazil. It is the unwavering policy of the administration of President Lula, who was himself victimized along with countless others under the military dictatorship, that Brazil shall not truck with the regimes of dictators or autocrats. We find the macabre socialist regime spackled into the cracks of North America and our neighbors in the Conquista to be potentially troubling, the situation in Asia is too chaotic to even bear note of, and the Nazi regime in the Reich is a horror of epic proportions. We seek to check their possible avenues for expansion, and the concurrent oppression and exploitation of innocent people, potentially by forming a global anti-fascist alliance only open to democratic nations." "We seek the United States' input on all of these measures, and I am hoping they will be received warmly. I personally have very high hopes for our future relationship, based upon recent events such as your nation rushing to the aid of beleaguered Morocco." He finishes speaking and smiles tersely at the Ambassador, clearly having worked himself into a fit of anxiety over recounting the current perils facing the world. |

Ambassador Proctor nodded. "The Non aggression pact and Free trade agreement are easy. I have the authority to sign such treaties. However, The Senate will have to approve something as far reaching as a Mutual Defense Pact." "I myself am in total agreement with your assesment, and am in support of a MDP, and will explain so to the president and the Senate." "I'm somewhat confident such a treaty would be approved, but I will have to send it up the line. I hope you understand." OOC: That means I'm probably going to say yes, but I want to think about it for a bit. |

Edilson nods his assent, being quite familiar with the governance of the United States, having studied at Harvard. "We are pleased to hear that you will assent to the Non-Aggression Pact and Free Trade Agreement, and I will have my executive secretary run over with the necessary documentation later to be notarized and for you to sign. As for the Mutual Defense Treaty, and if you would be willing to mention it to President Harting should he be so inclined, a technology-sharing agreement, I will eagerly await word from you. May it come to pass that Brazil and the United States of America shall stand as a bulwark of true democracy against the petty dictators of the world. Thank you very much for your time, Ambassador Proctor." He stands to shake the man's hand with a smile and readies to leave. OOC - I guess either just hit me up with a 'phone call' to my embassy or PM me when you've decided, and i'll hope its an assent. I fully understand wanting to wait and see how diplomatic ties develop among nations before getting tangled up ;-) |

~California~ They let him in to the main room. They will be with him in a moment. ~Samuri~ At best, we can give an FTA and an NAP. No other agreements will be made with the Samuri Imperium at this time. |

The Californian Ambassador Glass waits patiently, humming "The Star-Spangled Banner" which has inexplicably become stuck in his head.
