Appearance -Rafe stands at 6ft4in taller than most men. He weighs approximately 240 pounds. He is very well muscled and lithe. He has long brown hair and deep blue eyes. He has a scar on his chest and a dragon tattooed on his arm. He also has a short brown beard. Rafe not to extravagant in what he wears prefers a more humble look.

Apparel - He does wear noble robes, but just simple black and red with gold buttons. Otherwise he prefers simple tunics nothing to tight but easily moved in.

In battle he wears a Knights tunic with golden dragons on the front. Over it hears armor in intricate red and black designs almost in dance. It is meant to scare his enemies. His armor is made by the best smiths and designed for good movement and protection. He carries himself in a slightly regal manner, but does not walk as if he owned the world. More so he carries himself as if he was equal.

Appearance - A tall man with a kind face that is framed by a wild mane of brown hair that seems like it hasn't been combed for months,it hasn't. His body is broad shouldered and muscular, and his legs are noticeably longer than average. He enjoys being taller than others and often uses others heads as arm rests to remind them of their stature.
Apparel - Usually wearing brown leather shorts that fall just below the knees and a leather vest with thin armor on the shoulders. and leather gloves with the fingers cut just after the knuckles.

Background - Born in Origin, since early childhood, he longed for a life full of adventure, outside of the massive claustrophobic walls of the big city, he longed to see all the world had to offer, and to run free in the vast plains and mountains and hills and gullies and anywhere his mind would allow him to go. He lived his city life quietly and without complaint, until the day of his eighteenth birthday, he ran as far and as fast as he could from the big city, and didn't look back. As he ran, his spirit rejoiced with such force that it began to emerge, and he ran faster, and harder than any normal man ever could. Its been one year since that day, and he does go to the city to get tips for adventures, and to buy supplies, but he stays away if he can.

Destiny: Please edit your background a little. Define what the Dreighton Academy actually is. It can't be a huge institution, but it can exist. Please also tone down your 'master at reading expressions' bit. That's just a little too powerful, considering some high level spells have that same efect. If I were you, I'd remove that ability altogether, turn your level 0 spell into an ability, and be good to go.

Just saw this now, my bad. Melaia approved me so I started posting. Hope you don't mind.

I'll come up with a brief introduction to the academy and post if I'm done with the update.

The natural ability I intended is something a lot of good communicators have, like reading body language, pupil dilation, tonality of voice, etc. I actually took this up in college and it's really quite basic. :) It's not necessarily knowing, but having a good grasp of what the person is showing, based on pure observation, not from empathic abilities.

Maybe I can rephrase it by saying he has good observational skills in terms of non-verbal communication?

And ok, I'll move my Level 0 spell to a natural ability. Thanks for the heads up.

Magi: We're not doing LP modifiers anytime soon. However, with the missing senses, the unbreakable mask and absorbing magical items is okay. Just note, you can't actually use the ability of the magical item. I think that without anything else, you can do a Stylings. But that's just me. Mel should comment here.


Further Questions:

1) But do we intend to use them in the future? As I said, I'd be happy to leave that as get-an-lp-mod-later ability. Or a get-a-normal-lss later ability should we eventually decide to never do LP mods. The spell restriction was there to balance out any... imbalance.

2) "you can't actually use the ability of the magical item". Could we clarify this? If all absorbing magical items does is make them useless the ability is... rather pointless. Unless I need to destroy brick 2.0 I don't see a use for it - us adventuring types are looters.
Reasons for having that ability:
a) Enchanting weapons (fist/feet) buy buying a normal enchanted weapon and draining it. Note that each fist/foot must be done separately, it doesn't spread to all of them.
b) Absorbing magic items to avoid having to lug them around for their effects. I'd consider this a bigger deal if I'd ever seen a non-weapon item destroyed or carrying magic items to be an issue (most are rather light).
c) Absorbing quest weapons to stockpile weird abilities - I can see this one being truly powerful instead of just convenient.
I'd assume that any giant magic things or super-artifacts meant for a specific quest purpose can resist being drained for some reason or other. *cough*game balance*cough*

I don't think we intended to have an LP modifier for QUITE some time, and I also don't think it's fair to have a placeholder just in case we implement a feature.

As for the ability, I misread it. I thought it read just what I said.

In any case, I asked Mel the same thing about Nes, and she said (and I agree with this) that consolidation like that is an end-game ability. Nes' ability would be absorbing a weapon to turn into it, just to cut down items held. That was agreed to be too powerful. Having a ton of effects on limbs is even more so. It's way too early to have something like that. Even if it affects just one hand at a time, you STILL get too many effects stacking up. In any case, you shouldn't get a ton of effects on one hand that it'd take four swords to do. No one can wield those four swords.

Natural Abilities
Golan has the incredible ability to be either Drunk or Sober at will. Golan has fine tuned this highly useful and effective ability so that he can choose exactly how inebriated he is at any given time. It doesn't involve some kind of complicated altering of his blood compostion ... drunk is just a state of mind. :cool:

Fire - Lord of Flames
Those with an affinity to Flame can alter it through their will to types of fire seldom seen in nature. The caster can only modify spells this way, or small, natural fires.
Level 0 - Shadow Flame - Transform a flame into a black fire, which casts light only for the caster.
Level 1 - Frostbite Flame - Transform a flame into an icy-blue fire that burns cold, but still damages.
Level 2 - Starfire - Transform a flame into a glaring white fire that can blind those who look directly at it for one to three posts.

Name - Alaric Ravenbourne of Dakos

Appearance - When next to both his parent's he would seem closest in appearance to his father, except for the rusty-orange skin. That is to say, a mildly feline Jakari, possessing the charactaristic cat ears and tail. He is exceptionally lithe but has much of the power one would expect from a Half-Garr. His face is angular and has two spurs, much like a Garr, but also poseses some soft facial hair. He wears a goatee and sideburns, which flank his luminous magenta eyes, one of which has an eybrow, while the other lacks it. His raven black hair is unusually soft for a Garr, and in fact even softer than most humans, but is almost always a tangled, curly mess.
Apparel - Alaric is most commonly found wearing dark coloured harem pants and a simmilar tunic of either wool or silk. He is never found without his wolf skin cloak, boots, and gloves, trophies of wolves slain in in journeys as a Shepard.
Background - One may wonder how such an odd hybrid came to be, but one must never forget the power of two individuals with a common profession (both his parents shepards, his father of sheep with some of the softest wool in the land, his mother of dangerous mountain goats), exciting stories, and more ale and whiskey than most horses could drink and stay on their feet. Nine months and several broken ribs later Alaric was born, and on that day hundreds upon hundreds of ravens descended upon the herds of the new parents, thus the name Ravenbourne. One raven, who came to be known as Vladmir, stayed with Alaric throughout his life, outliving any normal Raven and still keeping his youthful plumage and energy. In fact, upon Alaric reaching puberty he and Vladmir developed a psychic link to his pet, coming close to being marked insane until the bird plucked his own feather and managed to scribble a message of his intelligence in the dirt.

As Alaric grew up he had few friends. His odd pet and muddled heritage earned him the nickname 'Mongrel', and he was predominantly an outcast. He spent most his youth training with weapons and watching the herds, mastering the use of Helios, his mother's Cutlass, and Luna, his fathers Sickle. He also by age 13 had purchased the designs for and built a crude matchlock musket. The weapon, while inaccurate, unwieldly, and unreliable in damp conditions, helped him slay one of the three wolves that attacked the herds.

At age 15 the young Alaric earned the respect of his peers when he single handedly saved the herds from a wolf attack. As a half-score of wolves descended on the sleeping sheep and goats Alaric's sharp eyes caught sight of them. A shot from his musket felled one, and he sprang to combat. Not having time to reload his gun he drew Helios and Luna, and in hand to hand combat fell two wolves and chased the others away before Vladmir could get and return with help. This earned him the name 'Wolfbane'.

At age 18, with Vladmir's prodding, wanderlust overtook him. Leaving his musket with his kin he set off for Krier, seeking adventure.

Dual Heritage - He is both powerful and limber. With little effort he maintains both the muscle mass and agility of someone who dedicates hours a day to either. Though as a drawback many consider him funny looking.

Emergence - Linked Souls
Alaric and Vladmir have an intense link to each other, beyond any master and pet. The two can communicate telepathically already, and only fate knows what powers they may gain through magic and experience
0 - Vladmir will outlive any normal Raven, is as smart as a person, and comunicate telepathically with Alaric
1 - When not in combat, Alaric may choose to see through Vlad's eyes or hear through Vlad's ears. Alric's eyes become yellow in hue.
2 - Vlad grows to 1.5 his normal size, with claws that are razor sharp. At the cost of a spell per turn, Alric may summon Vlad to his side from anywhere on the battlefield to swoop onto an opponent.
