You started without me.
Not that I really mind. So we're starting with just Nai and Mel as WMs? -------- I can't approve people, but I can tell you this: Kupo: Starting with level 1+ spells and 200g isn't going to fly. Mouse got away with it because he subtracted the cost of those spells from his starting gold. Notice how he started with 80g. He just saved himself some time. I'm not sure Nai/Mel want pre-buying to be a common occurrence though. --------- <PC is coming> |

Cory, I have no idea how you intend to make a bow, but you can have a horse if you'd like. It'd be a plain pony though. Later, we'll introduce mounts that actually have benefits. Kupo, you can't start with spells. You have to buy them with your starting gold. Also, there's no alchemy/potioning yet. You can learn it later. Feel free to substitute these things with a different ability if you'd like.Destiny, there's no such thing as Dreighton Academy directly in Keir, but you're free to create such an idea in some esoteric place. Lvl 0 Spells should be active... we're trying to avoid passive spells. |

Fixed the spell. I'll just give you the prerogative to decide when the spell becomes active, since he has no idea he can even use it. Yup, the academy is purely fictional and irrelevant, and mainly conjured for characterization purposes only. |

I considered restarting Aro Lotreab, but as much as I like him I’m not up to starting over yet. Particularly since there’s no way to also start with Carl unless I make them two separate PCs that travel together when not on quests. And I’m sticking with me One-PC-Until-I-Have-More-Time rule so that’ll be later if ever. So I decided to go through the torment of getting Silver approved yet again. [Note to anyone reading this: I am a bad role model when it comes to PC creation.] Name – Silver Titles - None Race – ??? (Assume human when needed) Age -- Looks 24ish Height - 5’13 Weight - 140 Appearance - A normal looking man with tan skin and thin white hair. Well, except that he wears a plain silver mask on his face. The smooth mask has no features, and is rather shiny. It also appears to be fused to the sides of his head. No, wait, it is fused to the sides of his head! How is that normal??? To make matters worse, Silver’s hands and feat are made of steel. Other than that, a normal looking man. Apparel – A thin, whitish sand-colored shirt adorns his chest, with long equally thin pants covering the rest of him. Between the two is a sand-colored belt. On his back lies a rather unremarkable vest-like robe that looks like everything else. He does not wear shoes (or glasses). In addtion to the cloak is a sheath in which Silver keeps his walking stick while in battle. Background - One day Silver woke up. After congratulating himself on a job well done, Silver noticed that he still didn’t know who he was. As such, he wandered the surrounding countryside [again] until he was led to the nearest major city by a kind traveler [again!]. This traveler explained Jinaria and taught Silver the basics of living. At this point the parallels had ran past “creepy” and dove right into “deeply disturbing” so Silver made a *break* for it. He regrets doing so in a literal fashion (walls are forever the blind man’s enemy), but at least the parallels have stopped. A new world awaits! Affiliations - Job - Allies - Enemies – Walls. And pits. Accomplishments - Woke up. Good job! Natural Abilities Basic stuff: Street Fighting, general endurance, ambidexterity, etc. He's a better fighter than a normal civilian but not as good a fighter as a trained warrior. Missing Senses- Silver cannot see, smell, or taste. Obviously, this causes more than a few issues. However he does seem to be able to get by without eating or drinking for reasons unknown. He obviously has no nose and mouth, yet his chest rises and falls as if he were indeed breathing something. He can speak for equally mysterious reasons. Twisted Mask -At this point I ask if we’re doing LP modifiers or not. If the answer is “maybe later”, consider this the ability to gain an LP mod as soon as they are allowed. As before, the other “Twisted” powers are actually a part of this one, I just like organizing the various effects. Twisted Blade – Silver will not fight with a weapon that he cannot feel through using his sense of touch. This also applies to heavy armor – Silver does not like being restrained. > Silver can feel through his metal hands, feet, and mask as though they were made of flesh. Really tough flesh, but flesh nonetheless. Also, his feat/hands slowly heal over time just like fleshy hands would, making minor cuts and scratches less of an issue. > Silver’s mask cannot be broken – He’d have tried to remove it otherwise. The rest of the head/neck it’s attached to however is quite maimable. > With an hour of meditation, one of Silver’s metallic body parts can absorb the magical abilities of an item. The magic is not altered in any way, just moved – if that makes an ability useless, so be it. Having to sit around in a forge while some dude works on your hands (that you can feel) would be pretty nasty. Twisted Mana – Silver can only cast one spell per turn. Twisted Mind > Motion Sense – Silver can discern nearby movement on an inhuman level. Treat him as being a near-sighted individual (20/80, ¼ normal), but only for moving targets. When traveling from place to place Silver depends on following other travelers. The direction Silver is facing in does not matter. Note that, direction aside, this ability at best (~6 feet) resembles normal eyesight. Twisted Stylings -Silver can enter one of his patented fighting styles as a spell-equivalent action. Once he does so he cannot end or change styles for 4 posts. >Silver is currently without style. Not surprising considering his choice of dress. Skills Spells Art Levels - Armor > Silver does not wear armor. Probably not the smartest choice in the world, but Silver has issues with wearing a steel coffin he can’t feel through. Weapons Magical Metal Hands and feet- Silver’s hands are made of steel, yet he can feel through them as if they were normal hands. They are about as sharp as normal hands and feet with clipped fingernails. Which is not sharp at all. Non-Weapon Items - Accessories Magical Non-Magical - A walking Stick. With a very long string attached to it, which in turn is attacked to a big ball of string. Edit: Added the ball at the end to note just how long the string is. Non-Weapon Items - Miscellaneous Magical Non-Magical A big ball of String Containers - A sheath on his back for the walking stick. Currency 200 Gold ---- Bwah? How did this take an hour to do? I copy-pasted much of it.

Your history said that elves made a bow from the tree they came from, so naturally it seemed likely that if they're going to eventually train her in archery, they'd also follow that tradition.
But perhaps she already has it, then? A gift, before she was sent onwards to a mixed-race town? She'll just have to learn how to use it later on at some point... And yep, I know it'd be plain... though I hope it's a horse, given her height. She'd look a bit funny on a pony.

Actually, I didn't expect to get away with starting with spells. I thought Nai would tell me that you can't start with spells even if you pay for them and not approve Golan. But hey! it all turned out for the best. Hey, Self! Don't converse on this thread! Quit being a jerk! Sorry.

Hey everyone, here's my first crack at the character. I saw that Destiny created a location for his character's back story, so I hope that its okay that I did too. I hope I didn't put too many skills in.. I do have a question- where should I track Mathias's (my character) battle posts? Stats & Facts Name - Mathias Avargn Titles - none Race - Human Age - 23 Height - 6' 7" Weight - 239 lbs. Mathias is a strong figure, barrel-chested, broad shouldered, with long thick arms and large, calloused hands. His face is long and angular, a perfectly square chin and a broad nose. Steel-grey eyes beneath thick eyebrows. His head is shaved bald, but he keeps thick sideburns and a thick goatee. His older scars are one lashing across his right bicep, and another across the small of his back. The newest cuts right below his left eye. Mathias wears a good pair of tough leather boots, tough enough to survive anything the highlands throw at them. A simple pair of leggings suffice for him, and a long blue tunic, open at the chest, covers the rest. A leather jerkin, just as worn as his boots, is the final layer- its fasteners have long gone missing, so it is cinched by Mathias's belt, from which dangles his sword, dagger, and a fair sized pounch. In inclimate weather, Mathias will don a heavy wool jacket- it is a simple affair, faded from its original color to a dull maroon-gray, with no pockets or fasteners. In fairer weather he carries the jacket looped across his chest- it is tailored with ties along the garment just to tie it up. Around his neck, Mathias wears a simple leather cord that holds a large canine tooth. Mathias was born and reared in a small community further up in the mountains from Keir. Son of the community leader, he received ample opportunity to learn beyond the farming and herding tradition of the village; he learned swordfighting from Angorr, a retired city guard, he learned to climb from many treks around the village, and he acquired a strong sense of duty from guarding the villages occassional cart of goods to Keir- in the same line he gained his first scars, defending the cart from a pair of bandits that tried to raid it when he was seventeen. The fairy-tale life Mathias led became a lie when his father was killed by wild beast, and the other village elder (the retired city guard) passed away of ill health. The community had respected his father greatly, and tolerated Mathias because of it. Within years of his father's death, the village began to falter, but not due to lack of leadership. Several poor harvest and tough winters had wittled away at the community. They looked to Mathias to carry them through, but he could not. The village disbanded, each took their own path, most went to Keir. Some, did not make it, but Mathias did... Guilds Fighters Accomplishments Protected the village caravan from a pair of bandits Avenged his father; successfully hunted the wolf that killed him. Captured the wanted theif Moganne, recieved 70 gold for it. Natural Abilities Internal Compass The mountains may all look the same, but Mathias always knows which way north is. Sure Foot The mountains are not a place for the clumsy, and Mathias is not- he has very good balance and seldom missteps. Skills Knot-work Mathias knows how to tie most knots. Rock Climbing Mathias is an expert at climbing rocks, encumbered or otherwise. Brawling Mathias has moderate experience fighting, with fists, swords and shield, and some experience with axes and spears. Battle Prowess - 12 Battle Posts As a warrior undergoes the trials of combat, they grow stronger, faster, and tougher as a result. Battle posts count only your posts, and only those in which you actually fight. Stronger than a normal man; recieve a half Natural Empower (total .5) Spoiler: click to toggle Spells Force 1. Empower - Doubles the physical strength of the caster. 2. Enlighten - Reduce the pull of gravity on an object, halving it's weight. Weapons Bastard Sword A sturdy iron hand-and-a-half sword. The three-foot blade features a ricasso and tapers rapidly to a sharp point. Given to him by Angorr, who was too old to use it after he trained Mathias. Dagger An old bronze dagger, chipped and dented. Has limited use in combat, but still can be used for other purposes. Taken from one of the bandits he defeated in his youth. Armor Vambraces A pair of cuir bouilli leather vambraces with a trio of fasteners to tighten the armor. They run from wrist to elbow, and are studded on the top. The left one features a small knife in a sheath under the underside. Kite Shield Forged of solid iron and rather heavy, this shield is a rounded kite form with a raised boss in the center. The shield can be wielded one handed, and guards from waist to shoulder. Accessories Fighter Sigil A medallion with the shape of a broadsword engraved on it, a lightning bolt inscribed on the handle. Rope Fifty foot length of sturdy, well-used rope. Small Knife A small knife, barely longer than a man's hand. Used for utilitarian functions. Miscellaneous Wolf-hide cloak A hip-cloak made from the hide of the large wolf that killed his father. Very useful in cold weather. Leather-bound journal Few entries are in this book; Mathias only started recording his thoughts after his father died. Currency 29 gold coin I didn't see anything in the guide about deities or character alignment, so I didn't add it. |

For battle posts, I like to put a number at the beginning or end of each post in brackets. Since your character will generally be on one quest or bounty or fight at a time, it's usually easy to see what number your most recent battle post was and therefore what number your next post will be. Every ten or twenty BP's or so I update my profile and include the most recent number right in the profile, so even if I painfully forget where I was, that helps jog the memory. Hope my suggestion helped! |

Magi: We're not doing LP modifiers anytime soon. However, with the missing senses, the unbreakable mask and absorbing magical items is okay. Just note, you can't actually use the ability of the magical item. I think that without anything else, you can do a Stylings. But that's just me. Mel should comment here. Cory, Shadow: Wood elves are not PC approvable at this time. They haven't exited their wood. My apologies for not making this clear. Apparently, when I edited the post to reflect that, it didn't save. I'll make sure to edit this presently. Please edit your characters appropriately. Destiny: Please edit your background a little. Define what the Dreighton Academy actually is. It can't be a huge institution, but it can exist. Please also tone down your 'master at reading expressions' bit. That's just a little too powerful, considering some high level spells have that same efect. If I were you, I'd remove that ability altogether, turn your level 0 spell into an ability, and be good to go. Kupo: The level 0 Dark Nova spell is too powerful. Level 0 spells are meant to be -minor- things, nothing more. So adding poison to blades is a little too much. And yes, in Maus' case, I simply did it because it's Golan, who's famous. Sorta. Also, -please- do not attempt to make a character who will 'change history', or who is intended for super magical powers. They probably won't be approved. You may -gain- that ability in the far-flung future, but we're not in the habit of pre-defining that sort of thing. Ose: Yours is quite perfect, actually. Lots of skills, but many of them are simply flavor. A good weapon, and then a minor one that's likely not to be of much use. Very nice. Approved. |

You can't change history, only influance the future somewhat. O_o I hope you didn't take 'prophecy' as 'Omg totally going to happen!' as prophecys can only really unfold if the person/persons involved believe it and act a certain way to make sure it happens. Just because someone said something at some point, doesn't mean that it WILL be how her story unfolds, there's always different endings to different stories, it shapes how her life started, it may not shape how it'll go from here on. I seriously wish you'd have put that in there. x_x Okay. I'll get back to it and modify it somehow. And on that note, she wasn't intended for super magical powers. If she's going to have skills reading/understanding/manipulating/negotiating with people, magic isn't the only way to do that.

I -did- put it there, but apparently the forums at the post. It's happened previously. My apologies. Wood Elves -will- be player approved in the future, but right now, treat them as if they don't exist. As for prophecies, as long as that's your outlook on it, groovy. I've had players in the past that tried to force those prophecies on me, and it didn't go well. |
