Located on an upper tier, the Arcane Beginnings shop serves the mages of Keir and the surrounding regions fairly well. The store is new, polished black granite on the inside, with layers of wooden beams and a special mage-made polymer for insulation. The stone, polished glass bright, flickers with some runes every now and then. The interior is filled with rows upon rows of cubbies filled with scrolls and scrolls of magical knowledge. The owner, Gideon, has been there many years and has watched the youth of Keir become the leaders of tomorrow. He is always ready to help, and the smile he holds is usually sincere.

The complete spell listing is here

Buying Spells: Spell prices equal the level of the spell multiplied by the base cost. A level 3 spell of light, for instance, costs 90 gold (30*3).

Plant: 30
Water: 30
Storm: 35
Earth: 35
Fire: 40
Force: 40
Mind: 45
Dark: 45

Gideon - "I'd like to have a friendly competition between one non-caster and one caster. The winner will receive 50 gold for his efforts, while the loser will only receive half as much. Are you both still interested?"

Nes looks at the man before slowly nodding, "I suppose I am."

Golan enters the spellshop, tossing some gold about.

"Gideon! Nice to see you again. Heard you found your two exhibitionists?"

Not wanting to disappoint, though still quite unsure of himself, Zeon nodded his head after Nes's confirmation... slowly at first, before picking up pace.

"Yes."

Though barely noticeable, he felt slightly chagrined at Golan's comments, a shy smile all that was visible.

Gideon - "I have but I see no reason why I couldn't make it three. It is a house fight so to speak. I will create a battlefield within a magical space and all three will duel. Loser gets 25 gold, runner-up gets 35 and winner gets 50. Seems fair, no? If you are ready, there is a battlefield waiting."

"All three, Eh? I was gonna say something like 'An exhibition fight is no place for someone so young', but then all the exhibition fights I've seen were at the Fighters. Gimme Pummel and I'll jump right in and beat down a young'un."

Golan tallies up 35 gold real quick for the purchase, and proceeds to the arena.

Darla reentered the Arcane Beginnings with the same look of purpose that had previously left her. After purchasing den-day, she left, reading but not understanding her new scroll.

Milly entered the shop yet again. She wondered what spell would be best to fight with. She was not sure what to get. She looked around for the shopkeeper and asked him,

I want to buy an offensive spell. But I'm not sure which spell would be best to buy.

Refreshed from a few hours bunk time spent at the Fighter's guildhouse, Mathias found himself back at the spellshop. Quite by accident, but he was not one to squander his visits. He spent a brief few minutes with the shopkeep familiarizing himself with other Force spells that were avaliable, and chose to purchase Enlighten. If nothing else, it would mean his shield would be lighter if he needed it to be.

He paid the 90 gold for the spell, collected the scroll, and departed, his pocket book much lighter, and that was not the spell at work. He found, to his dismay, that he only had 29 gold left- not enough for anything. He would need to find more gold if he wanted to do, well, anything.

He remembered something he had seen before he had sought Moganne, and this memory led him to the Sauced Mule.
Abhor desperation, embrace determination.

Gideon - "It depends on your art of choice, but usually, that Mage's dagger will do you enough good to not stray from... light I believe it is."

Milly nodded as Gideon spoke.

I understand. I don't feel comfortable using a weapon I have no experience. I could do as much damage to myself as to others, but I guess that does for spells as well. Thank you.

Milly then bought Infuse. She decided that the best way to gain experience is to work with others and support them.

**Rebecca entered the spell shop with a zombified cat at her side and looked through the necromancy scrolls. Excited that such arts were not kept hidden from the masses but rather kept out in the open right next to plant and light scrolls relieved the young woman's anxieties about Kier.**

Rebecca- Hey how are you!

Gideon- Um... fine I guess, can I help you?

Rebecca- Um yes I was looking through your necromancy scrolls, they seem... interesting.

Gideon- Ya, we've been getting a lot of people getting into necromancy lately, its expensive but that works for me, you know you need a dark spell to learn that right?

Rebecca- Well that makes sense, in order to bring about life you need to know the arts of darkness? What kind of sham establishment are you running here? Let me guess, I'll also need to spend 200 gold on a magical pointy hat and broomstick if I want to learn an art that suits me?

Gideon- Look kid, I don't make the rules of magic, I just sell it, now do you want to buy some scrolls or not?

**Rebecca sighed and shelled out 195 gold for deadshot, summon zombie rats and summon zombie raven, disappointed that she was now too poor to join the mage's guild.**

Dryden opens the door to Arcane Beginnings and quickly surveys the scrolls lining the shelves. Remembering what his old teacher taught him, he went straight to the storm section and quickly scanned the spells.

'Hmm...interesting,' he said to himself as he looked over the level 1 and 2 spells. Reading the descriptions of gust, mists, thunderclap and charge, he decides upon taking gust, mists and charge. Walking up to the counter he takes out 140 gold coins from his sack and deposits them in front of the shopkeeper.

'I'll take gust, mists and charge if you don't mind,' he told the shopkeeper as he picked up the scrolls and left leaving his money jingling on the counter.
