As Victoria and James arrived near the small store, they snuck around the back to keep a low profile around the undead. Victoria looked at the single, black, metalic door that was locked at the doorknob. Testing the knob, the silver knob was locked and she had to pull her hand away, since it burnt some to her. She gave a nervous laugh and turned to the skeptic James. "Static, caught me by surprise." A lame excuse, but one she had. Glaring at the inanimate object, she gave the door a good, hard kick which broke the said lock and flung it open. She was just as surprised as James probably was. "....Never knew I had that much anger in me," she said and drew her pistol as she walked through the doorway. She heard James pull out his rifle and follow her as well. Closing the door and barracading it with a few heavy objects, they made their way through the unlit store. Everything was quiet, almost deafening. Stepping up to an aisle, she and James were extremely cautious as they stepped around broken glass from some of the cases that held little knik knaks. |

The thought of what was in the bottle made him forget all about eating. "Well to each his own I guess." James said trying to be casual about it. "I'll let you two catch up while I grab a few things for myself." James left the pair and walked down the isles. He only grabbed sealed cans and plastic bottles. One reason since he didn't want them breaking in his pack and second he wasn't sure what caused people to become zombies and didn't want to join them if he could help it. |

Victoria nodded at James and turned to her master, just to find him grinning at her, while his permanent scarlet eyes looked through is sunglasses into her blue eyes. A perfect match for you Police girl. I must say, you picked someone just for you," he teased her, bringing his grinning face to her red one. He loved to do this to her, but he usually got smacked for it. Cue the had against his face. The resounding 'smack' echoed along the store walls but it didn't faze Alucard. "Now now, must you get fiesty when you know it's the truth?" He questioned as he held the cheek some. Victoria was fumming by now, and if her red face didn't prove nor did the slap mark, well, someone would have to be really, really stupid not to figure it out. She grew a sly smirk and beckoned him to bend down to her level. Moving towards his ear, she grinned and whispered something that made him reel back, his own face red. "Touche dear Police Girl. Touche," he remarked and lowered his brim some to shade his slightly red face. |

|
James walked to the front of the store and set a basket of food on the counter. He noticed that both were blushing and tried his best not to listen to them as he opened his bag. He began to arrange the items in his bag so that they wouldn't make any noise. James didn't know how well zombies could hear but better not to take any more chances. |

Victoria sighed and shook her head, elbowed Alucard in the stomach and went over to help James. "If he decides to tease you, just ignore him. He only has that evil aura up to make sure others know he has the power to kill, but he's mostly a big teddy bear," she said and chuckled somewhat at her comment. Alucard wasn't paying attention and was checking his equipment for any damages it might have taken. "Like I said, a teddy bear, but without a gun," she stated and seeing that there was still more room, went over to get a few more items. A simple can opener was taken out of it's package quietly, a campers basic pocket knife, a pair of scissors, and a couple of medical items that were needed were some of the things she got that weren't for food wise. Going back, she grabbed a couple packages of Beef Jerky, some more bottled water, chewing gum for herself, and a package of raw meat for Alucard. He took it greedily and was about to eat it there when he realized that there was a normal human around, so he went into the back. "And he's got a large appitiete, but he won't eat you or any other humans, and neither will I," she said with a smile and continued to help James with sorting and what would be safe to bring. "Anything sealed is the best bet. I can tell the meats were brought in two weeks ago, before the breakout and all," she said and pointed at her nose. |

The revelation that Victoria wasn't a normal human was still hard to believe. She was an attractive young woman with a gentle bearing. He didn't really feel like she would hurt him or anyone. But he knew better. He'd seen her do some amazing things since meeting her. He'd never say it to her since he could tell she didn't like what had been done to her but in a way he was glad she had her abilities. Without them he might not still be alive. Alucard on the other hand still made him uneasy. He trusted Victoria completely now but still had the feeling that he was only safe around the man because he was with her. Without realizing it James found himself watching Victoria as she picked items off the shelves. After a few moments James came back to his senses and was surprised by what he was feeling. He quickly tried to bury the feelings knowing that this wasn't the time to get distracted. To take his mind off it he retrieved his handgun and loaded it. Then before he could holster it the front door began to shake as something began to beat on it. Wheeling around James took aim at the door but it was holding for now. A moment later the banging increased and began to spread around the whole storefront. Turning as the sound began to come from behind James began to sweat. Reacting quickly James ran over to where his pack lay and closed it before pulling on the straps. He holstered his handgun and picked up the rifle. As the defenses Victoria set up on the front began to break James quickly popped off the scope and slipped it into a pocket. OOC: Lets drag this out a little |

OOC: Okay, gotcha Victoria glared at the front door and with quick speed, grabbed her duffle bag and her semi-automatic. She had a lot of room in her bag, so she turned to Alucard and nodded at him. "Keep your sights locked on the front door. I'm going to get some more supplies," she said to him, her blue eyes turning back to scarlet once more. Alucard nodded and brought out both Jackel and Casull, the onyx and ivory colored guns pointed at the front door with the FMJ rounds. "Just to let you know fledgling, Victoria is like a daughter I never had. If I'm not around after this battle, take care of her," he said in a quiet voice, looking at James as he put his sunglasses away, his bright eyes holding a sincere look in them. Victoria was stuffing sealed can after sealed package after sealed, whatever in her bag. She grabbed a few lighters and matches from the store, rope, more sealed items, water, car oil, and so much more, her bag was stuffed full of everything. "I'll be right back, checking the back exit," she said as she went to the back. She pressed her ear against the small part of the metal door and listened for anything outside. It was silent. Good thing. ((FMJ = Full Metal Jacket, very explosive rounds)) |

James nodded to Alucard but thought if Victoria needed his protection they were both screwed anyway. His training gave him a lot of skills the average person didn't have and he was in top shape but the two B.O.W.'s were way out of his league. "I used to think the Marines trained me for anything." He laughed. "Guess it never occurred to them to teach anti zombie tactics." The glass window at the front of the store finally shattered and the boards rattle as fist beat on them. A small section of the boards splintered and James snapped his rifle at it. He centered on the forehead he could see beyond it and fired. Slinging the rifle over his shoulder James ran towards the front of the store. The layout forced you to go through one of the two checkout lanes in order to reach the area that he and Alucard were standing. He reached the cart corral and pushed six down the first checkout stand then pulled six after him down the second. Behind him he heard the sound of wood splintering and the moans grew louder. Quickly James wedged the last cart in each row so that the zombies couldn't push the carts through. It wasn't a perfect defense since the zombies could go to the left and walk around the checkout lanes into the store. But during that time Alucard and James had a clear line of fire and they could shot without having to worry about being overrun. Bringing his rifle back up James began to fire into the failing barricade. |

Alucard fired round after round at the undead, the explosive rounds causing a lot of damage but it seemed they would come in waves. "Dammit," he said and discarded those clips and pulled out his shotgun. He aimed at a small group and shot them right through their heads, causing them to fall and not move anymore. Hearing the 'tat tat tat' sound, he knew his 'Police Girl' was helping with the battle. "Took you long enough, Police Girl," he stated as he fired once more at the undead. Victoria rolled her eyes and continued to fire at the slowly decreasing numbers of zombies. "Sorry, but I had to make sure the back door was safe. Don't move you two" she said as she placed one of her belts of bullets into the semi-automatic, and away she fired, missing James and Alucard by just inches, but killed many of the zombies. There were only a few left, so she decided to do something she hasn't done in a long while. Stopping her fire, there were about 10 stragglers left, crawling along the ground in an attempt for food, or human flesh. She took off her gloves and bowed her head, gathering one of her abilities to the surface. Looking up,  her eyes were glowing a bright red as she grinned evilly. Going straight past Alucard and James, she took her hand, which had grown long, sharp nails, and pierced it through the head of one zombie closest to James,  blood splattering everywhere as she had an insane look upon her face. In no time, they were all dead and Victoria was looking like she wanted to fight more, but with a quick but to the head with a handgun, Alucard fixed that and caught her as she fell. "That's the only flaw we have... we can't stop killing unless someone knocks us out," Alucard explained as the smell of rotting corpses started to waft through the air. Putting in two fresh new cartrages in Jackel and Casull, he placed them in his large red coat and picked up Victoria's gun and dufflebag. "Sometimes I wonder if they used a different strain of the same virus on her then me," he said and sighed, closing the main doors. He picked up the broken glass and let it reflect the moonlight. "We should be leaving soon. She'll wake up in a bit. I'll help gather more supplies," Alucard said as he grabbed several travel bags and handed a few to James. "Fill them up, and I'll carry them," he said as he started to stuff more valuable items in the bags. |

James fired slowly but didn't waste a single bullet. Finally his ran out of bullets and he began to reload as Victoria jumped into the fray. When it was all over James was so shocked he didn't move for speak for several seconds. Finally the rotten smell of the zombies reached him and he bent over and threw up. When his stomach was empty he stood up shaking a little. Looking at the unconscious woman he felt afraid of her for the first time. James could have handled Alucard acting like a monster but not Victoria. Falling back on his training James got a hold of himself and began to fill the bags with shaking hands glancing up at the blood covered Victoria from time to time. What would have happened if Alucard hadn't been here? Would she have come at me next? James wondered. James grabbed his pack and one of the bags. "I better carry one in case we get separated." Or I decide to ditch you guys. He added silently to himself. |

Victoria groaned as she sat up, holding her head with her bloodstained hand. Looking at the hand and then down at herself, the memories of what happened clicked in like puzzle pieces.  Her hands shook as she looked down at them. "I'm... a monster...." she whisperd a bit loudly, the held her head, shaking it and feeling tears fall down her face. "No, no, no! I can't! I didn't mean to! Please, I'm sorry!" She exclaimed as tears slid down her face, creating clear trails along her bloodstained face. Her nails bit into her scalp as she fell to her knees and grasped the handgun. Pointing it up at her jaw, she clicked the safety off and cried harder.  Alucard heard her cries of apologies and the click of the safety on her gun. Dropping his bag, he called out to her. "Victoria no!" He shouted as he dashed towards her to stop her. |

James left Alucard to get his bags and walked past Victoria towards the front door. It was quiet outside and he carefully looked out. Several bodies without heads or much of a head left lay all around. Before tonight he'd never fired a round at anything besides cardboard targets. Back then he'd scored 225 just a little under the expert ranking. It was lucky for him that he had a knack for shooting. It had always been the one thing he'd been good at that he never expected to need. Victoria's outburst broke his line of thought and he turned in time to see the gun come up. Without even thinking James was running towards her. Even with his enhanced speed James beat Alucard to Victoria since he was much closer. In a swift motion James slapped the gun away and grabbed Victoria in a tight hug. The marine was probably just as surprised as the B.O.W. by the action. He held her for a few moments before he realized that his fear of Victoria had been replaced by the fear of losing her. Finally he said softly in her ear. "You're not a monster. They changed you physically but they didn't change your heart. You still have your humanity. If you didn't I wouldn't be here. You would have left me behind or killed me hours ago." |

Victoria was just as stunned as James was, but didn't resist the hug. Her whole body shook as she cried more tears, sniffles escaping from her every now and then as she wrapped her hands around James, just to return the hug. Alucard watched all of this happen right before him, and he gave the faintest look of a smile. "It looks like she chose right," he mumbled to himself as he let the two have some privacy and went back to getting more items. "I'm sorry James.... I scared you.... I didn't mean to...." she kept saying over and over, knowing she had caused him fear over her actions but she wasn't thinking at the time. The handgun was still on the floor, the safety off but harmless with no hand to pull the trigger. |

"It's ok. It's not your fault." He repeated a couple of times in a soothing voice. James held Victoria for several moments not sure what to do in this situation. He'd never been all that good with people. Give him a technical problem and he could study it from all the angles and quickly solve it but he had trouble with people. Add to that the fact that he was still confused about his own feelings. Deciding the best move would be to just be there for her and let her get it all out James just kept holding Victoria as she cried. |

Victoria cried for just a bit longer, gripping the back of James' shirt tightly somewhat. His shirt was bound to have a large wet spot on it, but he didn't seem to care. She steadly grew quiet as she felt her eyes droop a bit. Pulling away from the hug, she gave a watery smile at James before taking an accidently dumped water bottle and opened it, drinking the cool liquid down her dry, raspy throat. "Thanks.... for accepting... me..." she whispered as she sniffled some, her blue eyes puffy and bloodshot from all the crying. |

James gave her a smile and said. "I always will. No matter what." Deciding to give her some privacy James stood up and walked over to the counter. He busied himself for a couple of minutes by loading his rifle and reattaching the scope. The rifle had twelve more round and around forty rounds for the handgun. After checking his weapons and getting his bags ready James made ready to set out again and walked over to Alucard. Fighting side by side had made James more comfortable around the other man but he still found the guy a little creepy. "Did you come across any groups of survivors or shelters out there?" |
