General Information Name: Nagazawa Daisuke Alias: Dai Gender: Male Age: 390 Birthdate: May 17th, 1596 Deathdate: October 27th, 1618 Birthplace: Feudal Japan Current Residence: Seiretei History: Daisuke was the son of a fudai daimyo during the Edo Period. His father was given a large tract of land, but only half of it was actually useable. The other half was a large swamp. The land itself was along an important trade route, so it was up to the Nagazawa family to protect it. Daisuke’s father drained most of the swamp, thus allowing more peasants to come into his land and work for his family. The Nagazawa family grew prosperous and had several daughters, but only one son. Daisuke’s birth made his father very happy. It meant that he became the heir to the family land and was also able to learn the arts of war. As Daisuke was growing up however, his mother did everything in her power to keep him looking frail and weak in order to keep him from being sent off to fight. She feared losing him would mean the end of the family and would stop at nothing to protect him from death. She kept him in the house as often as she could and not allow him to go out and play. He was often left to wander the house and found solace in training with his father when he could and meditating in the garden. During his free time Daisuke often wrote songs and poetry, though he never showed anyone his works. Despite his mother’s best efforts, Daisuke had become quite proficient in the art of swordsmanship. However, his time spent in the house left him socially awkward with other children his age. Since he had more experience talking to girls then boys, he felt more comfortable hanging out with them over boys as a result. He was often teased as he grew older, but was able to hold his own in a fight if attacked. After spending 20 years in his home, Daisuke grew restless. He developed a desire for seeing the world that could not be satiated by books alone. He struck out one day wearing one of his father’s old traveling cloaks, a shabby looking thing that hid the fine clothes and sword he wore underneath. Looking like an old beggar, Daisuke traveled to the surrounding villages in search of the true meaning of life. He felt it was his duty as a future lord of the area to see how the commoners were fairing and rule in a fashion that would be beneficial for his people. His time in the countryside had made him grow idealistic and trusting of others, a trait that would soon become his downfall. A beautiful young woman with observant eyes noticed that the shabby young man who walked into her village had rather deep pockets and a taste for fine foods. When they “accidentally” met in a bar a few nights later, she lured and coerced Daisuke into coming back to her home. Behind her door three other men lay in wait, ready to rob the poor soul who was coming in the door. After finding the door locked behind him, Daisuke unsheathed his sword as the men attacked. With a swift and fluid motion he was able to literally disarm one of the men, but the other two men leapt upon him in a fury and began stabbing him repeatedly as the young woman looked on. Daisuke pleaded with the woman to help him, but she just stood there watching the murder with a smile on her face. Daisuke woke up in an alleyway in the 18th district of Rukongai when he was nudged awake by an elderly woman. Having just experienced his first and last betrayal, Daisuke was paranoid. Even though she looked trustworthy, Daisuke began to second guess her motives. Though he accepted her help off the floor, he quickly and curtly excused himself when she offered him a place to stay. He had lost his innocent idealistic views. Without any help, it took awhile for Daisuke to finally get acclimated to his new home. He had known he was dead from the moment he arrived, but it took a few months to get used to this fact. He had no home, so he began to look for dead members of his family. It was pure chance that he discovered an old uncle that had died before Daisuke’s birth. They talked for some time and Daisuke told his uncle the events that lead to his death. He invited Daisuke to come live with him, and though Daisuke was still very leery of strangers he felt that he could still trust family. For a few years Daisuke worked with his uncle Hiro on the plot of land he had cultivated on the outskirts of the 22nd district. He relished in the simple living of the land but also missed the life in his old home. He missed sword fighting with his father and sitting in the garden, but most of all he missed poetry. He went into town and purchased a few books from one of the local writers. The art he craved re-awoke part of Daisuke’s soul that he had lost during his paranoid times and re-affirmed a degree of faith in humanity. For the first time since his death, he began to truly trust his uncle. Though he was now able to trust people once again, Daisuke was still a long way off from being the idealist he once was. He often found himself being quick to judge others in the district and it was a long time before Daisuke met a person he thought he could trust. That man was Chin, a very free-spirited young man who had recently died and didn’t know what was going on. Daisuke was the first to find the man and felt pity for him, recalling his first months in Rukongai. He offered the man a place to stay until he could get on his feet, but soon found himself forming a friendship with Chin. They played games together and discussed philosophy with each other, enjoying many great conversations. Chin even encouraged Daisuke to take up sword fighting again (though his methods were a bit unorthodox: one day he jokingly attacked Daisuke with a stick while they were working in the field and encouraged Dai to come after him). One night, Daisuke’s old sword manifested itself at the feet of his bed. Though he did not know why it had happened, he knew there had to be a reason for it. It was through talking to a few of the men in town that he discovered the existence of the shinigami academy. Not knowing what he was getting in to, Daisuke applied to the school and was accepted. After saying goodbye to his uncle, Daisuke encouraged Chin to come as well when he was ready. The 7 years of training that Daisuke received were at first just another thing for Daisuke to do. Daisuke proved to be adept at swordplay and excelled at shunpo, but his skills in Kido were sub-par. He made a few close friends while staying there but still harbored distrust towards others. It wasn’t until his second year that something changed in Daiuske. In a training mission to the real world, he witnessed a younger shinigami trainee try to hold off a hollow while her friend escaped. Though Daisuke tried to run off and assist her, he was too late. She died before he could reach her position, and in vengeance Daiuske took the hollow on himself and defeated the beast to avenge his fallen fellow student. From that day on, Daisuke vowed to become a protector. He was often labeled as brash for taking the lead during training missions, but it was not pride that made Daisuke act out in such a way. He did this out of a desire to keep others from getting hurt. Dai became more strict on himself and trained whenever possible. He fine-tuned his swordsmanship and trained himself to be faster than ever in the hopes that he would never have to stand idly by and watch as someone was killed. Upon graduation, Daisuke was tested for a seat in the 13th squad. It was during this test that he learned his sword’s name: Karamaru Rekisuu. He was placed at 18, but over the course of the hundreds of years he has been a shinigami, Daisuke has worked his way up to the higher echelons of the 10th squad. Appearance Visual Appearance: ![]() Physical Appearance: Daisuke looks thin, but his body is well toned, though he is by no means muscular. He has medium length, strait black hair that comes down over his eyes if not trimmed or pushed back. His skin is paler than most other Japanese men, since he did not spend much time outside in the sun. His jet black eyes and his gaunt face give him a very sullen look. Even when happy, Daisuke’s smile is very weak which gives him the appearance of only smiling to ease others rather than being genuinely happy. Clothing and Armor: Daisuke wears the standard uniform of the shinigami with no personal accentuations to the actual costume, however he has been known to carry small volumes of poetry with him on his person. Personality: Daisuke comes of as grim and sullen, but he is actually quite contemplative. His general outlook on life is very stoic: everything happens for a reason. Yet he also believes that we have some degree of control rather than believing everything pre-destined to happen. His analytical nature often comes into contrast with others who prefer to think positive, and he isn’t afraid to give his opinion on situations. He also is not afraid to advise a retreat, although he is not a coward by any means. He is very honest and strait forward (though some would find these traits about him less than admirable). He is very loyal to his friends and to his superiors, and once he is told a secret he will hold onto it for the rest of his life. He does not fear death, but he is not fearless. Rather, he realizes that there is always the possibility of death and to fear it would be like being fearful of growing old. Thus, he accepts the fact that he could die but is not worried if it happens. However, the death of others is unacceptable. Daisuke would rather be hurt instead of his friends, and is willing to fight a battle he knows is a losing one if it would save others. Visual Age: 24 Division: 10th Divisions: was originally drafted into the 13th squad Rank: 5th Zanpakutou Zanpakutou Name: Karamaru Rekisuu (Entwined Fates) Spirit Appearance: Karamaru Rekisuu looks like a two-headed old man wrapped in chains from head to toe. He wears rags over most of his body to hide his chains and to cover up his second/inactive head. He almost looks like a mummy. One head is very somber and dour, while the other is sadistic and excited at the prospect of a fight. The dominant head is usually the dour head, while the excitable one rests behind it. Even though they share the same body, the heads are hardly ever in agreement about anything and often argue. The one thing the heads do agree on is never being too strait forward with their master. Inner World: The inner world of Karamaru Rekisuu is a musky and foggy swamp/marsh. There are a few dry spots where people can sit on logs for a moment, but otherwise it is a wet, damp, smelly and downright wretched place. Sealed Form: Dasuke’s Zanpakuto blade is roughly 73cm in length. Its tsuba is a star made of two black–steel diamonds with engravings depicting two swordsmen impaling each other, while its tsuka has the traditional woven diamond pattern with black diamonds inlayed between red. A small shark’s tooth charm is tied to the end of the tsuka. Daisuke’s katana is sheathed at his side in the traditional fashion. His sheath is made of ebony and has the kanji of his family name engraved in white below the tsuba of the sword. Shikai Shikai Release Phrase: Resolve your differences Shikai Appearance: The blade of his katana shortens to the length of a wakazashi and turns black. Daisuke pulls a second sword from within the first with his left hand as he holds onto the original with his right. As he pulls the two apart, a chain that connects the two begins to form at the ends of the hilt. Shikai Abilities: Extend/Contract: The chain can be elongated by the command “Extend” and pulling the swords apart to the desired length. By uttering the command “Contract” the chain will return to its original length. Bankai: Not yet achieved Bankai Name: Houyou karamaru rekisuu (Embrace of the Entwined Fates) Bankai Appearance: The blades of Daisuke’s wakazashi extend to once again become 73cm katana. The chain greatly extends, wraps around and overlaps his body. A ragged gray cloak drops over Daisuke’s shoulders to cover some of the chains. The two swords then split up and become 6, with each one’s chain becoming wrapped around Daisuke. One is held in each hand with the chains wrapped around his arms, while the other four can be used for various uses. The 4 swords not in hand are chained to Daisuke’s torso. Two float over his head perched in a mantis-like position while two come down and float near his waist. The four swords not in hand are controlled via thought. Bankai Abilities: (Incomplete Bankai stage) Traits: - Activation of the bankai gives Daisuke a slight speed increase. - The chained swords controlled via mind can be extended 10 meters at maximum Abilities: Shadow wall: The four swords can work together to form a square shadow-shield the size of a wall. While the wall is created, the swords cannot separate to attack until the technique is dispelled. (Fully trained Bankai) Traits: Infinite Chain: the chains no longer have a maximum length and can extend to a near infinite length (though at longer lengths they are harder to control) Abilities: Shadow piercing: The swords can actually go through anything that doesn’t have a high spiritual power, such as a wall or the ground, without leaving a scratch. Black Magic Box: the 4 telepathic swords come down from above or shoot out from below ground in a square around the enemy. A shadow box then forms around Daisuke’s opponent, trapping them. Once formed, the box tightens around the opponent restricting their movement. There are two slots for Daisuke to plunge his swords into the box. Learned Kidou: 1. Restrain— Locks a target's arms in place behind their back. 4. White Lightning— Fires a concentrated bolt of lightning from the caster's forefinger. Shunpo: Rather than concentrating on the development of Kido, Daisuke found early on that he was more suited for shunpo. He trained hard in this field for years and is now an advanced user of shunpo, though his kido ability is sub-par. |

A few things...do you just want to pick a rank, or maybe easier, say he's unranked? It's just that for 10th Division "Between 4th and Vice Captain" doesn't really work. The only seats open for that are 5-10.... Unless you meant "Between 4th and Vice Captain" as more of a power level, which isn't needed, Rank actually means your exact rank or lack thereof, not a vague approximation. As for your bankai, your abilities and everything including your shikai are fine.... It's just that because of the number of bankais we already have and because of just RP logic itself and your rank, I'd prefer if your bankai is totally unachieved. It's something to shoot for, you know? There aren't any exact limits on bankai or formal training period/post limit, it's just a matter of having something to RP towards, you know what I mean? Otherwise you just start with the bankai and we've had too many like that... You can keep your bankai there for reference on what you will eventually achieve bit by bit at your own discretion as you RP out there, but I'd prefer you didn't just start immediately with it. There's no fun in that.

All right, I like the idea of having to RP in order to earn my bankai. It's definitely something to shoot for and will be fun when I can finally earn it (if I ever get to that point, that is). Also, I definitely want to be the 5th seat of the 10th division. It seems like a good place to be. I changed it in my profile as well. |
