The brave heroes from Wodengrad, along with the Mapmaker and the strange wanderer called Calahan sailed into the night away from Kesmith, headed south. Calahan manned the wheel, while the others stood by the railing. Occasionally, Calahan would order someone to adjust the sails or man the oars. It turns out, the barge was more than what Maltha told them. It was a fully functional ship.

"I need someone to man the fighting top and be on the look out." said Calahan as he pointed to the top of the masthead where a small booth was perched. "Easy on the ladder, it can get slippery."

He seemed at ease ever since the encounter with Groenberg and company. His cloak fluttered with the breeze, his long unruly blue hair getting in his face, his posture upright but relaxed. He was in his element, commanding the ship. Some of the men noticed his expertise and began wondering what Calahan did before he became a Sentinel.

Calahan was beside Donar, also with a worried look on his face. Donar supported Hawk with an arm.

"Was this the first time you attempted to speak to the forest?" Calahan asked. "You have quite a gift, or a curse, looking at what it did to you."

Donar gave Hawk a flask filled with whiskey. "Drink up, it will warm your spirits."

Hawk sipped the whisky, and looked over at Calahan.

"This was the first time, but it wion't be the last." His voice seemed to trail off as he looked towards the trees. For several awkward moments, Hawk remained silent, then, he turned to Calahan again, and spoke with strong conviction, "They have suffered much, and they deserve to be heard."

He began coughing again, and drowned his coughs in whiskey. As he drank, he slipped back into his thoughts. That connection, so powerful, so invigorating. Yes, it was painful, but only because he was sampling it for the first time. Any cchild that pokes at a herd is doomed to be stampeded. It takes a master to send the herd where he wishes it to go.

He tried connecting to the forest, again, but this time, he approached it as an ally, as a man that wished to work with nature, rather than command it, or use it to his own ends. He knew if he was to grow, he must become the tool of nature, and not the other way around.

He tried connecting, but all he got was silence. The connection was there, but it was as if the forest already told him what they had to say.

Donar shook him. "What do you think you're doing? You nearly died the last time!"

Seemingly sucked out of his trance, Hawk turned to Donar. "I don't much care about the pain. This earth has been ravaged for years, yet it still stands, If I wish to work with it, I must emulate that."

With those words, Hawk pushed free of Donar's support, wobbled a bit, but caught his footing.

"That's what I'll call determination. More than I could hope for. The last time something like that happened to me, I ran like a coward!" Vince laughed. "Alright then. What about that story Calahan? Sorry about my interruption earlier, about the Great Ash. Your right; if I think like that, I'll put us all in more danger than we already could be. I can't be so hasty."

Amused at Hawk´s fainting scene, Marcus kept training with his knives, however kept listening in to the conversation. He was still uneasy about their last encounter, fighting a war on two fronts is necver a smart idea, if Calahan would tell Marcus and the others what was happening behind the scenes of the Sun Sentinels, they may be better informed of their new enemy.

Tyr watched the group around him silently, and then turned back to what he had been doing for the last 24 hours, staring at his hands. His eyes seemed covered with a murky darkness that actually swam across them, but then returned to normal.
"Blood everywhere..."

I've got a Ph.D in kicking your ass.

Long Fang was so shocked by his sudden recovery, he had been sitting htere, thinking for the entire time. Surely this was the work of one of his commrades, yet he did not recognize who. He knew what they were each capable of, unless one developed a new power. Rising from his resting place, he journeyed to the location of his allies, but did not speak to them, or even take heed of their presence. As he stared out at the water around, his mind drifted....
If one had gained a new power, then none of us are limited by what we have. I now know that I can expand my abilities even farther, like whoever brought my broken thoughts back together, like whoever mended the powerful effects my damaged mind caused on my body. If I am not so limited..... Then why do I feel this way? If only magic worked the same as strength..... My power wouldn't heed to a limit, but always increase, just by working harder than I ever had before. So many of my companions appreciated me for what I did back there, that Hawk fellow looked so proud. DAMNIT! Why don't I feel like I've accomplished as much as I have?! For as long as I can remember, I've been training as a monk, by my father, and learning the guide to life, as my mother. I shouldn't feel this bitter, its a path that will lead me away from my own salvation.....
Suddenly, Long Fang realized something about himself. Searching deep inside the furthest depths of his inner psyche, he found a terrifying conclusion about himself. Maybe it was damage that hadn't been repaired in his sudden healing, maybe it was a core segment of his persona, but regardless it was still there. Remembering far back, to his childhood, he was always training as hard as he could, always trying to be the absolute best he could be. Why? To be a better person, to be able to help others, to reach his spiritual highpoint, and achieve nirvana. That's what he would have told anyone, what he still would probably tell anyone. Yet, he unlocked a secret that he had been covering up with denial for all his years. His mother, a priestess of high regard, taught him his religion. He learned the tenets well, taking them to heart, hoping to match his mother's stature as a spiritual guru. He wanted to exceed her as one who was more looked up to than her. His father, a master of a monk who had fought against the High Rise monks many times and never received a blow, began his training as a fighter. He wanted to be seen as a Master that guided all other monks on their way to their haven. He wanted to be a better fighter than his father. He had been striving his entire life simply to be better than those around him, yet the very core of who he was said this was wrong, to simply be himself and accept it. To gain strength to defend those who needed it, and yet he wanted it for the sake of having it. Again, his mind was racing, clashing with itself, the two very different sides of who he was, battling for dominance. Long Fang's figure slumped against the side of the barge, unmoving, his face nearly expressionless.

Kaworu's eyes suddenly widened in anger and exertion, putting a good deal of spiritual power and physical strength into himself as he slammed his spear shaft vertically forward against Jeff's locked blade to send him back.

"And you would give your life for such a meaningless task? Delaying me will not halt my goals."

Yes, I fought Kaworu. And I lived.[RPGData:10005|9|28|56|3|3|482|222|Dragon Sword|Dragon Armor|Dwarf|40551|None|None|134|6|1|0|None|NaN|None|The Klu Klux Klan]

Refreshed and ready, Erille approached the group silently. He saw Hawk staggering to his feet but successfully stood on his own, Tyr who was hovering along deep in thought, and Long Fang screaming and thrashing about. He ran towards them and tried to help Long Fang get up.

Tyr looked up, yawning as he watched Hawk and the others.
"What the fuck is all this bullshit? Minister Louis Farrakhan, at least let me explain myself!"

Donar looked at Tyr seriously, then glanced at Calahan. "He is losing his grip on reality." He said out of earshot.

Donar went over to Tyr. "How are you feeling? You look disturbed ever since Kesmith."

Calahan went back to the wheel. "I need another person up at the fighting top as a lookout. The river is increasing in speed."

"I'll go. I got good eyes!" with this Erille climbed up top, he almost slipped and fell if not for the reflexes he got from his mother. He was able to grab a rope and resumed his climb.

When he got up he surveyed the surrounding area, with elven eyes, he could see farther than anyone in this barge.

Tyr glared at Donar.
"You, I know you very well...You're not the Honorable Minister. How goes it, Donar the Dog?"

Hmm... Marcus thought to himself as he threw his knives at the pole, Tyr´s magical ability is seemingly much more powerful than my or any of the other´s abilities. The emotion associated with the power is also different from ours, hate rather than love or attachment.Marcus tried to thik harder, blocking out the other´s words and listening to Tyr and Donar alone. Hate is a more unstable emotion than attachment to a homeland. Become too hateful and you will only ruin yourself, as well as the people around you. Tyr´s ability seems on a whole new level of power compared to the other´s. But with great power can come great consequences. Finally having come to his own conclusion about Tyr, Marcus threw his dagger at the pole and slowly went to rerieve it. His power may end up killing him, maybe killing us as well.

Vince became tired of listening to Calahan's story. There are just too many interruptions. Instead, Vince strolled over to Marcus, who seemed deep in thought. "Is something bothering you?" Vince thought about what bothered him. His haunting dreams; when he was thoughtful, he usually thought about his dead parents. What if Marcus had thoughts lingering on death? That would be horrible. He knew from experience of course. "You alright?" he asked.
