The brave heroes from Wodengrad, along with the Mapmaker and the strange wanderer called Calahan sailed into the night away from Kesmith, headed south. Calahan manned the wheel, while the others stood by the railing. Occasionally, Calahan would order someone to adjust the sails or man the oars. It turns out, the barge was more than what Maltha told them. It was a fully functional ship.

"I need someone to man the fighting top and be on the look out." said Calahan as he pointed to the top of the masthead where a small booth was perched. "Easy on the ladder, it can get slippery."

He seemed at ease ever since the encounter with Groenberg and company. His cloak fluttered with the breeze, his long unruly blue hair getting in his face, his posture upright but relaxed. He was in his element, commanding the ship. Some of the men noticed his expertise and began wondering what Calahan did before he became a Sentinel.

Tyr smirked.
"Fight, obviously. They don't seem to be willing to negotiate. Spill their blood, you cretins."

Theodor unleashed his tongs and rope toward the sentinels around them pulling it back after every strike. He kept his other rope weapon ready in the opposite hand of his hamer just in case someone came at him.

"Lets get these mother f***ers"

Groenberg laughed at all the remarks from the Wodengrad men. "How noble. You will fight to the death, for this man you barely even know? I am giving you a chance to leave with your lives, but you insist on dying." He sniffed. "If you want death, then so be it."

The twelve Sentinels blurred and shimmered. They now wore terrifying masks and blunt armor stained with blood. They surrounded the men from Wodengrad in a circle. But before any blood could be spilled, the man in the balcony stood up.

"Wait." He raised his hand and flicked his wrist. The ground in the arena shook, and a gap opened on the ground. From beneath, a crucifix emerged. Strapped on it, was Donar, or what was left of him. Blood was all over his body, and he seemed to be writhing in pain.

The man in the balcony laughed. "I shall give you one last chance. Give us Calahan, and your friend will be spared."

Tyr shrugged.
"I don't give a fuck about Calahan, and I especially don't give a fuck about Donar..."
Suddenly his eyes opened wide maniacally and he gave an insane grin, immersing himself in the dark pool of hate he felt naturally, running towards Groenberg.
"I JUST DON'T LIKE YER FUCKING ATTITUDE!"

Great...
Long Fang sighed, charging at the cross Donar had been placed upon. "I'll need cover!"

Kaworu's eyes suddenly widened in anger and exertion, putting a good deal of spiritual power and physical strength into himself as he slammed his spear shaft vertically forward against Jeff's locked blade to send him back.

"And you would give your life for such a meaningless task? Delaying me will not halt my goals."

Yes, I fought Kaworu. And I lived.[RPGData:10005|9|28|56|3|3|482|222|Dragon Sword|Dragon Armor|Dwarf|40551|None|None|134|6|1|0|None|NaN|None|The Klu Klux Klan]

He was the eldest of five children, with the burden of taking care of his siblings when their parents were killed by hoodlums when he was twelve. He was a tough kid, doing whatever labor he could do to get enough money to feed his brothers and sisters. He didn’t even have time to grieve, or seek revenge; he had to work. He eventually grew up to be a strong lad, and his siblings were able to attend school and live a relatively comfortable life.

He met her when he was tilling the field of his employer. Her hair was as gold as the field and her skin as pale as the clouds. She saw him looking, but he did not look away. He knew she was the daughter of his employer, but nothing was ever beyond him if he set his mind to it. He was fired from his job, but he easily found a new one. They continued seeing each other, secretly. She helped him take care of his siblings, and they were engaged to be married. He worked hard, spending most of his time away from them, but he loved them so much.

And then the ground shook, and the skies grew dark. His village was burned and everybody he knew was massacred. The horde destroyed everything but him. The horde was led by a man, and the man always spared one person to tell the horrific stories to the other lands. That day was his lucky day, he was spared. He was left alone that night, and there he lay until dawn, when the flames died out and the smoke cleared, he found the corpses of his brothers and sisters, burnt to cinder. He also found her with them, all huddled together in the corner of their small hut.

He left his town that same day, never looking back. He had nobody left, and he had nothing to live for. But he remembered. He knew all he had left, were his memories. He was spared, to tell the tale of the horde. But he also lived, to keep the memories of his village, and the people he cared for. To live was to keep them alive within him.

He went looking for the horde, tracking them down, following their path of destruction. He sought out the sole survivors of the other lands, helping them cope, helping them to stay alive and have a purpose. He met three of them; their names were Groenberg, Stenson and Johannes. While following the horde, they encountered a man who wore a dark cloak and had a silver sword. The man’s name was told him about a group of people dedicated to help fight the horde. They were called Sentinels, and he knew this was a chance for him to fight back. He joined, along with Groenberg, Stenson and Johannes.

They were taught magic. They were taught about the other realms. They were taught everything they had to learn in order to fight the horde. But it was never enough. The horde was unstoppable. The man who led the horde was too cunning, too smart. Whenever the Sentinels moved against the horde, they would be defeated, as if the horde knew all their weaknesses. But he kept fighting, even when the Sentinels were losing hope. He sought out the man who controlled the horde, and eventually became obsessed about finding a way to control the horde. He wanted the power over the very thing that took everything away from him. He became delusional, believing that if he controlled the horde, he could bring everybody back.

But no matter how hard he worked, he was always defeated. Everything he did in his life was always taken from him. Soon, even his will was broken, and he traveled to the different realms in order to warn them about the danger. It was a futile cause, but it gave people time to prepare. He never had the luxury to defend the people he cared about. He never had the chance to cherish the moments with his siblings and with her, his most beloved.

Calahan’s face was wet, but he didn’t notice it. He saw Donar’s bloody body on the crucifix. He imagined the life Donar had ahead of him, the life with the people he cared about. He looked around him, at the people who were ready to die for him. It was not worth it. He had nothing left, but they had so much more. It was not worth it. It was then when he heard the voice in his head.

I have been following you. I doubted you when we met in Kesmith, but now I know. This realm is done, and so am I, Maltha, Caretaker of the Light. I shall give what strength I have left, but it will not be enough. But you will know everything. You must know, for you deserve to know. The Mapmaker, he knows, but he does not realize it. He is coming, but you can buy your friends some time. You know what you have to do, Calahan. They are waiting for you.

His parents, his brothers and sisters, and her. The last memories would be gone, and they will all be forgotten. But Calahan was about to join them now, forever.

He drew his sword and held it in front of his face. He knew what he had to do. He raised the sword in the air and with a powerful motion, thrust it on the ground. The Sentinels around them burst into the air, flailing wildly as the force of Calahan’s will ripped them apart. The ground exploded as the force continued to shoot up into the air, creating a halo of light over the Colosseum.

Calahan pulled his sword from the ground. He drew back with his right arm, and threw it as hard as he could at the man in the balcony. The man caught the sword in midair and laughed.

“Heroic. But alas, to no avail. All of you will perish, and my Daemon Horde will obliterate the realms!” The man proclaimed as held Calahan’s sword and pointed it arrogantly.

“No.” Calahan replied. He had his eyes closed and his head bowed. “As long as there are people who fight, as long as there is something to fight for, the horde will be defeated. But you, you are done.” He looked at the men from Wodengrad. “Fight for your land, fight for the people you care about. Never lose hope.”

With a sudden burst of speed, Calahan leapt from the arena and into the balcony. With a swift motion, the man thrust the sword into Calahan, impaling him. Blood spewed from his chest and his back.

Calahan managed to gasp for air and speak weakly. “You never died, but you were never strong enough. When Exedor died, you took over. But then he also awakened. You needed to use the Sentinels to increase your control over the Daemons. You wanted me to help you gain more control. I know who you are. Zarabek.” Calahan smiled and looked at the man in the eyes. He grasped the hilt of the sword and pulled himself closer to the man, impaling the blade in him even further. “The Mapmaker was right. Your powers have been growing weaker as he approaches. The Daemons now obey his will. You’ve lost control.” Calahan coughed and spewed blood from his mouth. “But I shall spare you as you spared me, long ago. You will die quickly.”

Calahan glowed, and he felt a surge of energy fill him. The balcony exploded with a flash of light. When the light cleared, a huge portion of the Colosseum was gone, and so too was Calahan.

The men from Wodengrad heard the exchange between Calahan and the man named Zarabek. They stood in shock but quickly took Donar down from the crucifix. Marcus tended to him while the others remained silent, pondering on what had just transpired.

Tyr had felt something building inside of him when he had watched Calahan kill the others. He wasn't sure if it had been bloodlust, envy, or anger, but he could feel his body trembling.
Slowly he turned away, ignoring Donar and the other Wodengrad men and simply scoffed.
"Hmph...he took away all the good killing."

Long Fang merely stared. He had been so intent on doing everything he could to help the group through this conflict, yet Calahan just gave his life. He gave his life and ended it right here and now. Yet there was still the daemons, and so many questions unanswered. He was not needed to help get Donar down from the cross, only a few needed to do that. He just stood there, taking it all in.....

Tyr continued walking past, now looking for some stairs or entrance in the shattered Colosseum to get up to upper tiers where the balconies had been and where there were still some parts still intact presumably.
"Hmph...Calahan died a fool's death, for only a fool sacrifices himself to saves the lives of others. What honor was in his sacrifice? He is now dead, and cares not for your compliments or honor or thanks or his heroism. He's dead. Dead is dead, and only fools do such things willingly."
Tyr clenched his fist, feeling darkness swirl around him and then abate.
"I will not die..."

Vince ran up to Tyr. "What are you thinking about? You know, if Calahan hadn't stepped in...You would of thrown yourself to those Sentinels like meat to a group of hounds. Poisoned meat, but you could of lost your life the way Calahan just did." Vince looked at his arm, sleeve still pulled up, birthmark glowing. "No fighting for me this day. I do think it quite odd we never managed to lay a hand on them. Calahan did it all for us."

Tyr sneered, not stopping as he responded midstride.
"Hmph...the talk of cowards and fools. I never got a real chance. But he died like a fool, so let that be. Depend on the strength of others and you'll be nothing but rotting meat in a few days. Look forward to it."

"Thanks for the tip, but I won't be depending on anyone, anytime, ever. You can depend on it. That's what makes people like us stronger than the others. Working as a team is fine, but depending on people like Marcus to heal us is quite sad. We're more focused on ourselves, and our strength." Vince surprised himself when he said this. Maybe the land was changing him. Or his thoughts.

"People like US? Don't group the likes of you with me..."
Tyr turned away, continuing his search for a stairway or entrance of sorts in the ruins of the Colosseum.
