PWNZED BY BREATH ATTACK!

For most of the Sky Elves that make their home here in Ardenvaal, The core is where the liferoot of their people is believed to be. At the center of every Ardenthor is a spirit of a fallen Sky Elf, who's quest is to reach for the sky, and touch with the Sun. With each spirit, A new Ardenthor is birthed, and a new life for A Sky Elf begins as they become one with Nature and start a new cycle of their neverending journey.

They say that the Ardenthor where Ardenvaal started upon is the spirit of the first High Elf who brought his people to this serene and inoccuous place, where nothing could touch them. And here, spreading out onto other Ardenthors, Ardenvaal's Core insures the safety of its people.

But the Core of Ardenvaal was not looking pristine. Ardenvaal seemed to be shrouded in mists and heavy fogs lately, which was not uncommon, but for the dry season, it was unnatural. The Core did not look as healthy as it used to.

To get an idea of what an Ardenthor looks like, imagine cutting down a tree somewhere near its stump. then, hollow out the center of it and fill it with soil. Now, grow some herbs in that soil, and after a while, the tree stump looks looks like its growing a small forest on top. Multiply the size of this stump by a couple of hundred, and duplicate this stump a couple thousand, maybe a million times, and you get the Ardenthor forest.

The Core of each Ardenthor is its second life-cycle, as it grows a massive central tree-like limb that feeds the flora and fauna atop of its wooden plateau. Imagine seeing a bud growing out of the center of a tree-stump. Same idea. This "Core" then brings up nutrients from the nutrient-rich earth and feeds itself along with the other smaller trees and shrubbery that grows upon it. Ultimatley, you get minature forests growing atop a much massive forest of tree stumps.

Here, at Ardenvaal's Core, the magicks of the native Faerie Dragons and the Sky Elves helped shape the woods into a governor's villa that was supposed to signify its oneness with the city as well as its people. But alas, that oneness has started to fade. It's an earthen plaza of stone and wood, where the citizens gather to hear about the new laws of the land each and every week. It's a center of listening to the new "Trade" and the new peoples that pass through this strange and wonderful town, bringing in foreign goods and plagued materials. The Sky Elves were happy by themselves, But Sek'Thelia Oravinea feels that Ardenvaal should reach out to the other cities with open arms and an open mind. And here, another meeting was called.

Sek'Thelia stood at an open window of his villa, and spoke to the hundreds of citizens gathered there that day.

"My fellow peoples! This previous night, an attempt at my life was made! Have I not brought you prosperity? Wealth? Good Health? And yet, one of our own kind made an attempt at my life. I don't feel I'm a bad person! I've tried my hardest to make Ardenvaal as beautiful and wonderful as it is today. And it pains me that I must make an example of its people."

A Scalamb was rolled towards the front of the mob, and then raised with rope for all of the onlookers to see.

"It truly does pain me... This man here was captured outside of the villa, with weapon in hand and a gaze that would've froze a stag in its tracks. For this outrage, this man must be punished."

A silent crowd stood onlooking at the man, as a hushed whisper creeped its way among the people. Sek'Thelia calmed the crowd down, then spoke words.

"Is there one among you today that believes otherwise?"

You can post in Ardenvaal now. :p

Imilun watches from the back of the crowd, his hands shading in darkness and obscuring it from view. He watches without motion, for he long ago forgot about the value of the lives of others.

Today will be a show, he hopes. A good show; a show he has not seen before. And so he is quite, and watches.

Silently, Sek'Thelia scanned the crowds, hoping his words would somehow sink in, bring other culprits of this band of rebellious outcasts to the frontlight. He felt his skin tingling, crawling... he knew somebody was out there, eyes on him at this very moment. And if he, Sek'Thelia, were to fall today, one would see the corruption and give his force more power.

But he can't die! He needed to continue to keep this beautiful city in checks, keep tabs with its people, make sure that everything is running smoothly.

A silent battle raged in Sek'Thelia's head as he continued to scan the crowds for any suspicious characters, anybody that was out of place. He needed a reason to keep this scum alive so that he could control and contain the uprising that he has quietly been engaged in with these rebels. Sek'Thelia continued with his speech.

"There is an uneasy tension among the people today. I can feel it in the air! Why the hesitation? Who amongst you know this traitor? Come forth now, and repent your sins against me! I am merciful! I will not end your lives for telling me the truth! A proper punishment will be established, yes, but only a further coming of lies and death await!"

Within the Scalamb, Gaeddeon also searched the crowds, the forests, looking for any hint of his people. Surely they must be aware of his disappearance. They must be looking for him now...

It was then that Gaeddeon suddenly realized his error. He relied too much on the Resistance. They weren't here to help him. They didn't even know he left. Shanave wouldn't even bother asking about his brother until tomorrow. This was all nought and ill. There would be no bird of freedom flying through this city today.

Gaeddeon started to panic. A certain fear dwelled up within him, forcing him to scamper from one end of the Scalamb to the other, looking for a way out, a friendly face. He started to say it in his mind, but then it became awkwardly audible.

"...Help. Help! HELP ME! PLEASE!!! SOMEBODY HELP ME!!"

Sek'Thelia and the crowd drew their attention to the Scalamb as Gaeddeon struggled for freedom. He shook at the bars, started to ween like a child, collapsed at his knees. Tears suddenly started to pour down his eyes. And the moan of a distressed creature replaced the sanity that Gaeddeon was struggling to hold on to. Sek'Thelia did his viperous half-smile, and relinquished a thought to the trapped elf.

"So, are you ready to talk? Are you ready to tell me who is working with you, those that do not show their face this day?

Gaeddeon looked at Sek'Thelia through teary eyes, a helpless child-like expression dominating his face. He shucked and sniffled, and was about to say something, but Sek'Thelia could not make it out.

"You wish to say something, child? All you have to do is say the words, and your punishment will be short."

The snake of a man slithered ever closer to the cage, his wroughtful gaze burning holes into the caged elf. Gaeddeon looked to the crowds and the trees again, hoping to catch a glimpse of anything to ensure his salvation... but nothing came. Nobody was there. The crowd was silent, and Vengence stood at the Scalamb's doorway. The snake hissed another statement.

"Where are they?"

[Awesome :p]

Imilun watches, entranced. He makes no motion, however, for he knows that he's suspicious by virtue of his so called insanity - even though it's really forsight. The two are so easily confused.

PWNZED BY BREATH ATTACK!

For an instant, Gaeddeon's eyes made brief contact with the figure standing by himself in the back, but the gaze spoke of survival, of help, of pity.

"WHERE ARE THEY? WHO ARE YOU WORKING WITH? JUST SAY THE NAMES AND YOU WILL NOT BE PUNISHED!"

Sek'Thelia strode around the cage, screaming at the small and nubile Sky Elf shrinking away from the madness. There must be something that Gaeddeon could do. He needed something. He needed confirmation that this was not the end, that perhaps it was a dream, that--

Unmercilessly, Sek'Thelia had moved a with a fluidness and deadliness of a snake, as well. His sword had gone through the young Sky Elf's back, and protruded from his chest. Gaeddeon struggled for a moment, as crimson red started to pour down his body, blanketing his naked body in a warming, haunting embrace. Hazily, Gaeddeon's eyes focused on the man standing in the back of the crowd, the one by himself, and reached for him. Why, he did not know, but for some reason, he felt entangled with the Sky Elf.

As his heart beat no more, the people looked on in horror as Sek'Thelia ruthlessly slaughtered the caged Gaeddeon, who slipped to his side and died in the Scalamb.

"Take this filth away... Do you see what happens people! This... this Sky Elf thought that his life was worth the risk of trying to kill his leader! And that is how he paid! With his life! WITH HIS LIFE!"

Sek'Thelia, feeling a chill run up his spine, suddenly felt the urge to walk back into the Governor's Villa, away from the people and the eyes watching from the foliage.

=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

Traveanduri Malak'Ira watched with tears in eyes. Her flowing pink hair came down to her waist, but was tightly wound and hid under a camouflage hood she wore. Her purplish skin was wet with moisture, as the forest was unusually hot today, but her face was unnaturally wet with her own tears.

Gaeddeon was no more. Her interest of desire was slain by the hands of Sek'Thelia, and she did nothing. How could she have done anything? The guards posted around the plaza today would have certainly caught sight of her and captured her as well. What she did know was that Shanave would not be pleased. To have to bring bad news of such a tragedy, she could feel her heart waining. She musn't make a noise at this juncture, but it suddenly hurt like the sword that ran down Gaeddeon.

She clutched her breast and tried not to sob, but the grief was overwhelming. She had to mingle with the crowd and make contact with the others of the Resistance. She had responsibilities that she needed to tend to, and that was all Gaeddeon wanted, as well...

She put her head down, and nearly gave her position away when she nearly whimpered. And now, she had to be stronger than ever when she confronted the Townsfolk about the event that transpired. She needed more information.

She needed to grieve.

=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

Imulin again connected with the dying Sky Elf's gaze, and for a brief moment, could not take his eyes off of the man. When Gaeddeon reached out for the Imulin, an acute and silent word was spoken to him that his elven eyes read from Gaeddeon's lips.

"Find them..."

Imilun turns away from the spectacle with disgust. He's always had a weak stomach since that one day, below the sky-city.

Suddenly, he is overwhelmed with pity for the young, dead, sky elf, and enraged by the transformation Sek'Thelia is seemingly undergoing. He nods to himself, and to the dead Gaeddeon.

I will find them. If not for myself, then for Ardenvaal.

With that, Imilun scans the crowd for any who may be mourning at the loss of Gaeddeon.

Leviticus Raine climbed up a small tree to get a view, totally befuddled and confused, trying to get his bearings.

Leviticus saw a cage, and apparently in that cage, a dead Sky Elf much like himself. There were obviously many people around, which meant to him that this must be an important gathering. Suddenly, a stranger in the crowd pointed at him.

"Hey, look! It's Lewdveticus! Loony Lewd! Loony Lewd!"

A mother grabbed her son by the arm.

"Gilfure! Come! Don't stare at that strange man. He's had a rough life, you know..."

The mother and child moved away from the confused man, in hopes of disappearing in the crowd. Nonetheless, the boastings of the child also brought the attention of Imulin standing not to far away.

Traveanduri, still hidden among the trees, moved with stealth to the ground, and found a secure hiding place for her throwing glaives. She would move into the crowd and hopefully find another of the Resistance, to let them know of the recent developments with Shanave's movement.

Leviticus sighed, rather used to the jeering and taunts. He turned to the nearest Sky Elf and pointed at the caged elf.
"What is the meaning of this? What has this fellow done to deserve this?"

Imilun responds, chuckling.
"Probably nothing. It's just the way things are around here, these days."

One of the onlookers looked to the conversing Sky Elves.

"Just the way it is? You think this is just the way it is? Our city was never like this. We never had a corrupt official governing us! He's making us his slaves! We pay taxes, and see strange faces in our city... I don't know about you, but the outsiders are tainting our home!"

The young Sky Elf, obviously distraught about his so-called "Governor", trotted off, unable to deal with the heresy he had witnessed this day.

Traveanduri, the Sky Elf who had been in watch for some time in the shadows of a tree, had thrown a loose fitting cloak around her head and approached the two. There was something about these Sky Elves that was out of place...

The young Traveanduri approached the two elves conversing, and whispered silently to their ears, words only they could hear.

"You speak brave and dangerous words, young brothers. Do you want to know more about that dead soul in the Scalamb? I can tell you, but not here. There are spies everywhere. Come with me..."

Not too far off in the opposite direction, a scuffle started to break out in the crowd as the young Sky Elf Maiden made her way in the opposite direction, towards her personal effects.

Imulin catches up to the stranger who had added his two cents to his conversation with Leviticus, and discovers that the scuffle was with several guards and the disgruntled citizen.

"You are under arrest for assault against the governor and his men! Do not resist!" The Guard hollared, using a crude form of a crowd control club against the Sky Elf who had not minutes ago spoke his mind about the governor.

"Arrest? Assault? You are insane, man! Assault for what!" The Sky Elf struggled to sit up.

"You resist arrest? You will either obey the law or face the consequences of your actions! You have violated said laws twice! Do you wish to be condemned to the Scalambs?" The Guard retorted, as several other military men chaunced up to the situation.

"I don't understand what I have done wrong! You are escalating things way out of the situation-- AUUUGH!!" The Guard had struck the Sky Elf in the face, taking him to the ground.

"You are under arrest for Assault and Resisting Arrest. Whether you use words or a weapon, one threat is seen as the same. For these crimes commited against you, you shall be condemned to the Scalambs for seventy-two hours until your judgment is determined..."

The law was recited to the man, and Imulin watched along with several other people as the Sky Elf was about to be taken away.

----------------

Leviticus caught up with Traveanduri, and followed her as to what seemed but a normal walk down one of the established roads existing within Ardenvaal. She did a quick scan of the area, then pulled Leviticus off the road behind a small wooden home.

Leviticus glanced at the earthen structure, no doubt molded by the magics of the Sky Elves and the Faerie Dragons, as it appeared like a tree twisting into a wonderfully arichitectural masterpiece of elven lore. It was hard not to look upon the architecture of Ardenvaal with anything but awe, as all of the buildings were formed of naturally growing trees into mosaic masterpieces of creativity.

Traveanduri recovered her Glaives, hidden well under her baggy overcloths, and quickly looked around. She looked quizzical.

"Where did your friend go?"

Imilun stands motionless, paralyzed at his own governments cruelty. He wants to speak out, but knows that no good can come of that...yet. Instead, he tries to follow the guards when the poor SkyElf is captured.
