Ok, for those of you who are pretty lost on half of the things we joke about, heres a little guide. You may have heard the term "lulz" often during the club. This word, in general, means for fun. Its most commonly used in the phrase "I did it for the Lulz" Another good thing to know is the term "Meme", a Meme is basically anything funny thats circulated through the internet, (most come from 4chan and other cesspools of the internet). Heres a nice little article called "The Lifespan of a Meme" which I shamelessly ripped from ED. 1. A meme is born. 2. The meme becomes popular local to its origin. 3. Compounded overuse causes the meme to be burned into collective memory and distributed across the internet. 4. The meme reaches the bottom of the internet. 5. In some cases the meme has gone even lower and surfaced IRL. 6. Those that gave birth to the meme are filled with regret. 7. The meme lives on, spreading, and becoming moar and moar dumbed down for a mass audience, so that over time it bears little or no resemblance to the original. 8. The meme is put on Snorg Tees and Facebook bumper stickers. 9. The meme then must be tossed into the fires of Mount Doom by a rather unsuspecting hobbit for its evil to be banished. Some popular memes you may have heard of are "Do a Barrel Roll" or "over 9000"or any other joke you think is an inside joke between your friends. I was saddened when I noticed hardly any of the new kids knew who Rick Astley was, this is by far one of the most overused and irritating memes you can possibly force on someone. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yu_moia-oVI That, dear children, is called a "Rickroll". Basically you use it to trick someone into clicking on a link that you said was something cool like "Zomg this dude is deep frying cats" and they're like "Oh snap, I gotta get in on that mess" so they click it and their hopes are instantly smashed by the sound of an 80's one-hit-wonder. this meme has hit number 8 on the list above, and if you see a person wearing a "You got rickrolled" T-shirt, please reach for the nearest trauma-inducing object and act accordingly. Also, if you dont know what 4chan is, its basically where everything funny on the internet comes from, but you have to wade through a lot of bull to get to the actually funny parts. This can be averted by going to the website www.encyclopediadramatica.com. Ill say now as a warning, theres some f'd up stuff on that site, so don't whine at me when you first see "Goaste". feel free to add to this if you want. |

D: Do a barrel roll is fun though. And its not like you hear it all the often anymore. Is "that's what s/he said?" considered a meme and if so, where does it fall on the chart? "Rule 34" is also fun to say when there are people around who get it. |

Well, "Thats what she said" was a common joke that no one used anymore, though it sorta caught back on since Michal Scott from the Office started saying it a lot. |
