What is wrong with wanting the best with which to honour God and celebrate Mass?

What one person perceives to be best another person perceived to be worse.

I get the impression that some will not be happy until they are worshipping on a bomb site with vestments and church plate taken from a rubbish skip!

Not one person has ever suggested on this forum that they would be happy to worship in a shabby place when a more suitable venue is available, and nobody has given any indication they want dirty scruffy vestments or church plate.

Some of us see beauty in wood and pottery.
Keep the Faith!
