Like Gerry and Mairtin I took great heart from the setting up of the ACP and the views and discussions which have since flowed from that. I was dismayed therefore to read the programme which Mairtin posted. Sessions entitled "Naming the Reality" , "The Vision"and " Getting from the Reality to the Vision" suggest to me that instead of moving away from the usual incomprehensible Vatican gobbledygook towards clear English we are in danger of substituting meaningless management babble and thus getting nowhere fast.

Well I didn't write the programme, John, if I had then it would probably have been something like "Where we are", "Where we want to be", "How we get there" but I wouldn't get too hung up on that. There was very little gobbledygook talked yesterday. I'll try to get time to give a more detailed report later but whilst I'm not entirely sure what yesterday's conference actually achieved or what comes next, there was something incredibly invigorating about just being in a room with over a thousand other people who cared enough to get off their bums and give up their bank holiday Monday to talk about the Catholic Church which they so passionately love and simply want to see put to rights.

This article on the Association of Catholic Priests (ACP) is worth reading:

Jesus told us, his disciples, “When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth” (John 16:13)

Reading the article ACP seems to be not dissident as the media gives the impression but positive. Throughout life we learn from our mistakes and contradiction of our erroneous opinions.
