Thanks for that clarification, but I thought the primary issue was whether Lebanese Christians are in danger. I don't have the impression that they are.

"US TV report on Christians in Holy Land attracts huge audience"

Quote:

A well-respected American television programme: '60 Minutes' on CBS, attracted massive viewing figures when it broadcast a short documentary on Christians in the Holy Land last Sunday, exploding the 'myth' that Christians leave because of Muslims. The Israeli Ambassador to the US Michael Oren, also protested to CBS about the show, before it was screened.

Endorsing the 14-minute video-documentary, Pat Gaffney, General Secretary of Pax Christi, said the film: "is crucial in that it makes assumptions that you might wish to take on in your own ministry or work.

"As the Arab Spring crisscrosses into different seasons and temperaments, it is important to discern what is truth and what is - at best - conjecture."

This programme has kicked off a firestorm of media controversy. The essence of the responses have been that the Israeli ambassador gave a disingenuous portrayal in an earlier article that Israel is the Christian community's best ally in the region.

From what little I know of the complexities of Middle East politics, it seems to me that Christians don't seem to have any true allies - which is where we as their brothers and sisters come in.
