Patrick your post cannot stir me up this evening. You're still in my good books for your most charitable earlier (on topic) post on this thread... |

Once pets are admitted to heaven, then it will be very difficult to hold the borders tight. Soon every living creature after his kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind will demand equal access. Where would it all end? It's all very well having majestic herds of wildebeest sweeping across the Elysian plains, but what about the swarms of locusts and the plagues of rats? Wouldn't it tend to distract from the beatific vision? One must also consider the resurrection of the body. Suppose one's last meal before the second coming was a prime rib of beef. On the following day, when all are gathered up in a Rapture of sorts, to whom will the succulent protein be allocated - it's original owner (the cow) or the person (who was nourished by the beef and whose cells incorporated the prime rib of beef)? |

Great minds think alike. On page 1 of this discussion I asked about slugs, Deacon Robert thought I was winding him up. If my dog has an immortal soul it stands to reason all mammals have them, so what about slugs, coral, amoeba, tarantula spiders, boa constrictors? If it is correct that they follow instinct would we be allowed to encage the animals that we consider to be a threat, or would it be impossible for them to kill our resurrected bodies? I don't fancy eternal strangulation or poisoning. |

When all are gathered up in a Rapture of sorts, to whom will Adam's rib be allocated - it's original owner or his missus? |

They won't strangle or poison us Rose, for "The lion will lie down with the lamb..." etc etc Their natures will be changed in that self-preservation will no longer be an issue. |

If my nature is to be a biter of finger nails and a slurper of soup, will that too be changed? |

I don't think we'll have any bad habits in Heaven P1. Our talents may well stay with us though... |

Ducks in Heaven Three men die and go to Heaven. When they get there, St. Peter is standing at the gates of Heaven. He says, "Now you may enter Heaven. But you must promise not to step on any ducks." So they all promised not to step on any ducks. The gates of Heaven opened. To their horror the grounds are covered with ducks. After 5 minutes the first man stepped on a duck.Instantly St. Peter appeared and tied an ugly women to him and said, " For your punishment you are now bound together for all eternity. After 10 minutes the second man stepped on a duck , again, instantly St. Peter appeared with an even uglier women and again, ties them both together and condemnes them for all eternity. The third man was terrified. He tookspecial precautions not to step on any ducks. If there is one thing he hates it's an ugly woman. On the one year aniversary of his arrival St. Peter comes to him and leads him to a beach at sunset where he meets the most beautiful woman in the world. He says to St. Peter," What have I done to deserve this?" "I don't know about you ", said the women, "But I stepped on a damn duck!" |

Now that raises another question Is there gender in Heaven ? Will there be male and female ? Might be like the old days at Sunday Mass in Ireland, women on the left, men (at least those not standing at the back) on the right of the Church. |

No gender at all. Souls have no need of gender - indeed angels do not have genders, we only genderise them (or at least Scritpure has) as part of visualising them, if that kinda makes any sense? |
