Putting the "Fun Dame" into Fundamentalist
|
Why is it nonsense? It is true. It isn't necessary for survival. There is no moral imperative to continue having relations, if one of the spouses has a life-threatening disease. And there is no obligation on the spouse who doesn't have the disease to submit to the one who does, and it would be wrong for him to pressure her with the "assurance" that he will use a condom! The points remain: not having sex does not endanger one's life; and condoms are neither the best nor the only way of preventing the spread of AIDS. |

It is nonsense because he is trying to dismiss sex as if it is some minor optional extra in marriage when Church teaching recognises sex as the very raison d'être for marriage. |
