I don't know if any of you live in or near to Suffolk. My wife and I took a drive out to Clare Priory this morning to attend morning Mass and are so thankful that we did. The Mass was quite simply one of the most inspirational that we have EVER been to and I have to admit to feeling quite emotional throughout our time there. The Priest celebrating Mass radiated much warm, spirituality and humanity to everyone around him. Before Mass started, he was in the church greeting people as they came in with an extra special word for visitors like ourselves. The music was nothing more than an acoustic guitar and a bass but did those musicians make their instruments sing! Truly, they were spot on!! After Mass we were invited to tea, cakes and biscuits and people just talked to us! At one point I glanced around the room and this conversation between strangers seemed to be breaking out all over the place and what a great privilege it was to be in the company of all these people. My wife had gone off to briefly to look around and seeing I was by myself, two women came up to me and we struck up a conversation. One of them asked me what I had thought of the Mass and I had answered that it had been extremely powerful and that the homily had been very thought provoking. They agreed and said that they wished every had the chance to visit this wonderful place. As we were about to leave the Priest that we had seen before Mass came up to us for a quick chat, which was a very thoughtful and charming thing to do. We are left with the feeling that if all parishes were as "people friendly" as Clare Priory there would be standing room only! My wife has only recently started to return to Mass, primarily due to the Mission that was held by the Sion Community in our parish and it was her idea to go to Clare Priory this morning and I'm pleased for both of us that she did!! Peter I looked at Clare Community website, it looks good, they are a praying community, and offer practical help to parishioners who ask for it, and they are involved in the wider community. They seem well organised with laity doing lots of things, but it is pretty obvious the Augustinians have their fingers on the button, in overall charge. The parish Clare Priory retreats and events |

It's very good to learn about an experience which was very pleasant and friendly. (Presumably Cavendish URC means Cavendish United Reformed Church) |

Peter, in Miscellaneous Catholic Chat, I've posted the tip about posting links. It's useful for all of us. |

I read the web page of Clare Priory and this jumped out at me:
Thats why we need prayer groups. Gerry |

Gerry And the quote that you've posted regarding "searching for God together" is really emphasised in the way the Mass was conducted yesterday! Even at my age (63) I have rarely been present at a Mass which has had all the components needed to bring me to a deeply spiritual experience so dramatically. Words are not enough to describe what happened to me, my wife and indeed, other present yesterday. As one lady said to me afterwards, "I wish everyone could experience what we did today." Peter |

I wonder if something special happened that day or is this a regular experience. Gerry |
