Nah - tomais or someone important.

Oh well, I don't remember anyone mentioning that the candidate had to be important...

I reckon a proper Catholic wouldn't accept a knighthood from a protestant temporal sovereign...but then, Pope John Paul II did award Rupert Murdoch a Papal Knighthood. Amazing what money can buy...

Jim’ll fix it,

I’ll second him.

Honours and qualifications
* In 1971 he was awarded the OBE, which he always subsequently appended to his signature.
* Awarded honorary Commando Green Beret by the Royal Marines in the 1970s for being one of only two civilians to complete the Royal Marine Commando speed march, 30 miles across Dartmoor carrying 30lb of kit[12]. The other civilian was former Blue Peter presenter Gethin Jones.
* In 1990 he was knighted for his services in the Queen's Birthday Honours List. The same year he was honoured
with a papal knighthood from the Vatican making him a Knight Commander of Saint Gregory the Great (KCSG).
* He holds an honorary doctorate of law (LLD) from Leeds University.
* He is an Honorary fellow of the Royal College of Radiologists (FRCR).
* He is a Knight of Malta.
* He is a Freeman of the Borough of Scarborough

Does that also mean nae votes for sainthood as well?
I will end by exhibiting my euchemicalistic Kirkian tendancies- Fay and I had coffee today in the Saint Giles High Kirk basement cafe; eschewing the Court of Session's on the other side of the car park with its small brass plate indicating-roughly-where X father john Knox is buiried! Visitors will find it at car park place number 23.
Ah well what more can I write.( NOTHING I hear the concerted ca-cough-annies!)

Jimmy Saville used to be an Altar Server in one of Scarborough's Catholic churches. He was also a volunteer porter in one of Leeds Hospitals. One evening when I was going home on the train from Leeds to York he boarded the train and went into the first class section. He was still wearing his white coat with another ordinary coat on top. Presumably he was going to his home in Scarborough. He referred to his mother as 'The Princess' or some such title.
