Flood alert

The West Country is expected to have three severe storms with gales over the next day, beginning at midnight. Coastguards have asked people not to go near the coast if they can help it. They said they expect more calls than they will be able to deal with.

Do you all remember the floods at Boscastle? Please pray.

“It is most laudable in a married woman to be devout,
but she must never forget that she is a housewife.
And sometimes she must leave God at the altar
to find Him in her housekeeping.”

Thank you friends. The storms were not as serious as the forecasters had warned. It is still very cold and windy but not serious.

I went into the Lancaster Diocese to seek news of the Catholic Parishes in Cockermouth and Workington. The church in Cockermouth looks very near the river. The churches in Workington appear to be further away from the river. Only one of the latter has a website and appears not to have been updated since 8th November. The Bishops asks for prayers for the victims.
(Incidently this is where I found reference to the Bishops Meetings' Press Releases which I have copied elsewhere).
