Sister Veronica joined the convent at the age of 18. At 28 she was appointed Mistress of Novices. In her first year in that post nearly 30 sisters entered. In 2002 there were 72, in 2004, there were 92. In 2005, the number rose to 105. Late last September there were 134. Mother Angelica was quite young when she suddenly decided to produce a television programme. From that initiative came EWTN which is transmitted world wide. Senior positions in the Church are still reserved for men. Are they scared stiff of brainy nuns? As the old saying goes "if you want to serve the church, there is always church cleaning to be done. What makes you think you are clever?" |

"The women are strong in their knowledge of theology, and are 'urban and educated'.” And even more important you could here them in the video making mention of 'God' and 'Jesus' and 'The Lord'. |
