Meeting by the stream; Pause to pray

Meeting by the stream. Mairtin and I were of one mind this lunchtime, I know we were both mad, and it has occurred to me that maybe we could all meet by the stream.
We offer our prayers for one another and yet like Guardian angels are invisible to each other, united in spirit. Would it be possible to have a moment when we could pause and say a prayer in unison? Perhaps the Angelus or the Lord’s Prayer, or whatever people agree. We all have different time commitments and some are in different time zones, I am a night owl others prefer mornings, I would like therefore to suggest a Cyber Holy hour between 12noon and 1pm GMT when each of us pauses to pray for each other, perhaps the more poetic could compose a cyber prayer which encompasses the idea of union through the spirit or maybe suggest one that already exists.
Could we meet by the stream between 12noon and 1pm GMT on Friday 2nd of October is the feast of "The Guardian Angels”?
No need to log in just pause and pray.

That's a wonderful idea, Richard, but noon to 1:00 on a Friday or any weekday would be completely out for me and, I suspect, many other people.

The recent survey* I carried out relating to the RoomToPray website showed that after 9:00 p.m. is overwhelmingly the best time for people taking part in online prayer; I realise that what you are suggesting is a bit different but I'd imagine the same principle applies.

(* That survey is still open for anyone who missed it and would still like to participate, details can be found here in my original post about it.)

Richard have you considered inviting each of us to pop down to the stream at some time on the day? Using myself as an example today I would not have been able to set aside even one minute between noon and 1 p.m.

I think Rose that is the practicle solution. This does however make the choice of a common prayer perhaps more pertinant. I shall give it some thought and am open to suggestions I am sure it will not be Bony M and the waters of Babylon.

Just in case anyone doesn't realise, the origin of the song 'By the Waters of Babylon' is one of the psalms and it is one of the Responsorial Psalms of Holy Mass. Whenever I read it (past tense)the sound of Boney M's rendering was going through my imagination and I struggled to keep a straight face.

As you may know, a group of us from here meet online each night at 10:45 to pray Compline.*

It is offered up for particular intentions on a couple of nights - all priests and religious on a Wednesday night and KatyA's "Sunday Prayer Requests " on Sunday nights. We also occasionally offer it up for various things mentioned on the forum here. I'm sure the other participants would be more that happy to offer it up this Friday night in the "meeting at the stream" spirit you are proposing. Also, if a prayer or scripture reading is agreed here, we can include that too and perhaps other posters could say it around the same time.

(*The online prayer is open to everybody, see my signature for details.)

Came across this poem while looking for a prayer. I have copied a couple of verses but it can all be read online at:

A Prayer by a Stream Home
Poetry Selection

Behold -
I cast my hand over
The ground
The cold of the
Air
I blow through you
My words are spoken
In the language
Of small birds
Calling you in the
Early
Of the morning light
-----

I make all the sounds
You hear
In the silence of
Yourself.
I am the life
I am the one
That lives within.
I am the prayer you
Dream
And I am you, walking
By a quiet stream.

Copyright Jim Brennan.

I also found this traditional prayer which might be suitable.

A GUARDIAN ANGEL PRAYER FOR FRIENDS
Guardian Angel, watch over those whose names you can read in my heart. Guard over them with every care and make their way easy and their labours fruitful. Dry their tears if they weep; sanctify their joys; raise their courage if they weaken; restore their hope if they lose heart, their health if they be ill, truth if they err, repentance if they fail.

Richard you say you are open to suggestions.

How about each of us posting a prayer to the angels (all or a specific one, or a guardian angel), composed by self, or a "standard prayer" on this thread on Friday?

Sounds good to me, A poem or prayer either borrowed or composed a thought for the day, Lets go with the flow.

So on the feast of the Guardian angels let us cast them in the cyber stream that we may be united in prayer for one another.

I will be praying a lot on Friday as that is the day my daughter's friend goes back for her re-scan. My daughter won't be able to be with her this time as she has to work so she will probably have to go on her own.

I mightn't be able to post during the day as I have to go to work myself but my thoughts will be with you all and I will try and post in the evening.

God Bless all x

Friday 2 October the Feast of the Guardian Angels.
Let us take time on this feast to pause and pray for one another. If a particular passage or prayer comes to mind then post it here and in a sense leave it by the stream, that we may all share your refection and add it to our prayer. The prayer or passage could be an old favourite or a something you are inspired to compose for the occasion.
Let us go down to the stream and meat each other in prayer.

It is understood that one of God's Guardian Angels is assigned to protect every believer.

Today on this Feast Day I give myself fully to the loving protection of Christ Jesus and His Blessed Mother and the Saints and ask that my Guardian Angel will temporarily depart from me and go to protect my daughter's friend at the time of her appointment so that all will be well, because I am not sure how much she believes in God so she may need some additional spiritual support. I do not know when the time of the appointment is so I ask that Jesus, His Mother and the Saints will be with me throughout the day and especially at the relevant time so I will not be vulnerable during that time. (I'll let you know if I become very accident-prone for an hour or so!!!)

This 18 year old girl is very brave as she has received precious little support from her mother and her boyfriend for the idea of keeping her baby. My family and I, and even my own daughter now, want to do all we can to help her. I've even had my Mum on the job of praying.

I pray God and His Angels will protect this young, very vulnerable, girl, and, if she is pregnant, her unborn child also. I pray He will be merciful and assign her and her baby one of their very own Angels each because she (they) so needs some support.

In Christ Jesus
Amen
