To quote a complete posting that is on this forum.

On the post you want to quote there is a button marked, not surprisingly, QUOTE

Click the Quote button.

You will see an empty window. Scroll down and you will see a window containing the post you want to quote.

Type your message in the top window.

When that is done scroll down to the bottom of the window below (the one with the post you want to quote}

Click the button marked Add Reply.

That's it, done.

To quote part of a posting that is on this forum.

On the post you want to quote there is a button marked, not surprisingly, QUOTE

Click the Quote button.

You will see an empty window. Scroll down and you will see a window containing the post from which you want to quote.

You don't want to quote all of it, so you need to get rid of the bits you don't want.

Left mouse button down, please.

Point your cursor at one end of the text you want rid off. Move it to the other end of the text you want rid of.

The text you want rid of turns a different colour.

Right mouse button down please.

Click the word Delete (with your left button).

Now type your message in the top window.

When that is done scroll down to the bottom of the window below (the one with the post you want to quote}

Click the button marked Add Reply.

That's it, done.

You can if you wish, press the Preview Button to make sure you did it right. Then you can press Add Reply.

Best of luck!

To quote from another website.

Store the required text in your mouse by using the copy and paste method.

On this forum, click the quote button, you will see this

Between the two, paste your text.

The link to the original article must be posted, copyright law. Post No 3 on here tells you how to do it. As a general rule complete articles must not be copied, without permission. It is all right to post some, for discussion, then others can click the link and read the whole thing.

We had a message asking how to do quotes from outside sites, so this topic is being brought to the fore.
