Last night I dreamt that my husband and I were on a Catholic retreat in Scotland, and 2 of our parish priests , plus Fr. J's dog [Freddy], were there. First scene in my dream , I was in the retreat centre looking out of the window onto the street below where there was a lot of activity, I saw Fr. J's dog, and someone had shot him! I wailed , oh no, Freddy, Freddy, they've shot Freddy!. Next scene, I found my self looking into Fr.J's bedroom, where I saw Fr. J in bed asleep, and poor Freddy the dog, lying beside the bed, wrapped up in a white blanket, then I closed the door again so not to wake Fr. up. Later when Fr.J was up and about, we were expressing our shock and disbelief that his poor faithful Freddy was dead. Fr. J became very upset and tearful and , ( here is the funny bit), he reached out to hold Fr. M's hand for comfort,, Fr. M, quickly said, I don't want to hold your hand,,, there's Poesy, whe will comfort you ! So I was left to comfort Fr. J. A little while later we went for a walk in the Scottish Hills. And that was the end of that! Edited by Poesy, Friday, 24. July 2009, 20:22.

Poesy, You can decipher your own dreams. Usually dreams are a rehash of your waking day, concerns either present and in the forefront of your thoughts or those in the subconscious. Only you or a trained therapist (one who knows you very well) would be able to give you guidance. Anyone who tried to give you an answer from a "book of dreams" or by reading your account would be playing with some new age nonsense or guessing. |

As usual, the dog probably knows more than it's letting on. |

It's funny you said that OSB, because, Fr.J has a regular weekly column in the parish newletter entitled, PAWS for thought, as told by Freddy, who tells us of all the hustle and bustle and goings on and life in the presbytery, and is really very amusing. The one about showing the new Polish priest the ropes and teaching him English, was hilarious! Actually, the new priest can speak perfectly good English, but did say that he really needs to improve. One of the most embarrassing dreams I have had few times is to discover I was in Church but wearing my pyjamas. I cannot think of any reason why I should dream such. |

Is it true that God no longer uses inspired dreams in people to direct His will. sm |

I think so long as the world we know it exists God is likely to use dreams (in moderation of course) to inspire his will. |
