AMDG To the Greater Glory of God The above was lifted from the Lectio Divina thread and I was wondering if anyone else had an old school or work motto that inspired them or filled them with dread, all those old wise sayings your grandparents taught you in connection with going to church or saying your prayers, Feel free to share them Or perhaps suggest a phrase that should be a Motto |

The motto of the Notre Dame Order and their schools is "Oh, qu'il est bon, le bon Dieu" "Oh how good is the good God". The founder St Julie Billiart often said and wrote those words. The motto gives food for thought. |

Thanks for the reference Rose while browsing through it came across AD CAUTELAM, which explains much of the malaise in the church today because, and I say this knowing this site may be watched, it could be the Motto for some of my colleagues and Bishops . |

Quaerite primum regnum Dei - Seek ye first the kingdom of God The motto of my old school which was originally a junior seminary and has, I think, the unique distinction of having produced two Nobel laureates. |
