If one priest gets this piggish bug and before he realises he has it, goes to a deanery meeting and snorts germs all over the other reverend guys, then the next day they all go off to their priestly duties (council of priests, diocesan building commitee, diocesan trustees meeting, diocesan consultative committee, diocesan how many face masks do we need in a pandemic council, and they in turn snort germs all over the very reverend guys, they in turn will go to a very important council and snorts germs all over the right reverend guy, who will duly grunt "What a piggish situation" Word will get around that there are no priests left within a hundred miles. Thats a bit of a pig.

Perhaps EMsHC will then be appreciated by all - even if Hosts are very difficult to obtain.

Here is the latest news from the World Health Organization WHO.

Quote:

Influenza A(H1N1) - update 11

3 May 2009 -- As of 0600 GMT, 3 May 2009, 17 countries have officially reported 787 cases of influenza A(H1N1) infection.

Mexico has reported 506 confirmed human cases of infection, including 19 deaths. The higher number of cases from Mexico in the past 48 hours reflects ongoing testing of previously collected specimens. The United States Government has reported 160 laboratory confirmed human cases, including one death.

The following countries have reported laboratory confirmed cases with no deaths - Austria (1), Canada (70), China, Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (1), Costa Rica (1), Denmark (1), France (2), Germany (6), Ireland (1), Israel (3), Netherlands (1), New Zealand (4), Republic of Korea (1), Spain (13), Switzerland (1) and the United Kingdom (15).

Further information on the situation will be available on the WHO website on a regular basis.

The WHO issues a daily bulletin such as the one I have posted above. Just click here to read the bulletin and other information.

But when you read it, keep in mind a similar scare in 1976 when the US health authorities told us that we were facing an epidemic. and then rushed to produce a vaccine for it. Several people developed an infectious form of paralysis from the vaccine. And the epidemic never came if I remember correctly.

So the best advice is to stay away from crowds as much as you can.

Cardinal Norberto Rivera Carrera has called for the cancellation of Masses throughout the Archdiocese of Mexico, as a precaution. He said that the churches would remain open “so that the faithful can go to pray on a personal basis or as a family,” however avoiding any large gatherings inside. He also mentioned that “although we are hearing news of stability on the health crisis...we should remain on the alert.”

Surely an opportunity to televise a Holy Mass from an empty church or chapel so that people can join in spiritually!
