I keep hearing about this lady, but since I don't watch the show I haven't seen her - did any other members watch?

London, England, Apr 17, 2009 / 03:11 am (CNA).- A middle-aged Scottish woman who sang in her Catholic parish’s choir for decades has become an internet sensation after a stunning performance on a British talent show. Susan Boyle, 47, appeared on the show Britain’s Got Talent before judges and a live audience skeptical of her ambition, her age and her plain appearance.
The audience laughed derisively when she said she wanted to follow the example of West End star singer Elaine Paige.
However, Boyle’s rendition of “I Dreamed a Dream” from the musical Les Miserables won over the crowd and the judges.
Her performance was broadcast on April 11, the day before Easter. A video of her performance posted on YouTube on the same day had received more than 13 million views as of Thursday afternoon.
Boyle, reportedly a devoted Catholic from Blackburn in West Lothian, was born with a learning disability but dreamed of becoming a professional singer, the Times Online says.

My wife saw the original showing on TV, I didn't, but she told me about it afterwards. I have seen videos of her introduction and performance. Apart from news websites, someone in England sent us the link and someone in North america sent us the link. Apparently millions have clicked on the video and she has been interviewed by CNN and rumoured she may be on the Oprah show.

I don't think I'll put my name forward for the Talent Show.

It's just occured to me, I wonder if her parish church will have a record attendance tomorrow morning. At least the pp might be able to afford a proper Sunday Lunch instead of a Take-away Pizza.

They might even be queuing-up now!!

The regulars may have to hope someone inside leaves their mobile open so they can listen to it half a mile way.

I heard her. She is very good, with a remarkably powerful voice. As for appearance she looks like "anybody's Mum".

Before closing for the night I went into my message box and an in-law cousin in California has sent a link to the now famous video.

Good Night and God Bless You all.

Deacon Greg Kandra, based in New York, posted his sermon for today which relates to Susan Boyle's experience. I think it's beautiful and I posted it here
