I suppose one might make some allowance if the 'ringtone' was something tasteful and traditional like 'Ave Verum Corpus' or 'De Profundis' but most 'ringtones' these days are the most appalling, tasteless trash!

If you know where I could get a ring tone of "Ave Verum Corpus", please let me know! :harp:

I don't have a mobile phone - my wife has one which she uses mainly in case the car breaks-down or when she travels and the train is delayed etc. She doesn't ring to tell me to put the kettle on - she might catch me flirting with a neighbour.

Well if Carlo thinks that Scotland the Brave is a wonderful tune, he is very intelligent.
If, however, he thinks it is appalling tasteless trash, then his opinion is of no value.

There are some that annoy the hell out of me. I'll be driving the Maxi Taxi, the passenger is dozing off in the back somewhere, it's a balmy day, and all's well with the world. Then something that sounds like a Somali pirate raid blasts off in the back with no warning. Very irritating.

Besides Scottish and Irish Ballads, my most favoured genre of music is Baroque, and early sacred music, I especially love HIP performances.
My favourite classical composers including sacred music include:
Bach,
Handel
Vivaldi
Tartini
Corelli
Albinoni
Locateli
Pergolesi
Monteverdi
Jean-Baptist Lully
Purcell
Palestrina
Biber.
John Sheppard.
The Baroque period ended around 1750.
Moving on to the classical period.
Mozart
Beethoven
Brahms
Wagner
and many more.

:musicnote: I have recently become quite fond of the music of John Rutter and in particular his CD Distant Land.

I use Taize music in church because it is easier to get people to sing than plainsong but occasionally I Play a little Gregorian Chant on the sound system and even grumpy "Erks" seem to be calmed by it.

My daughter blue-toothed me my ringtone with instructions to use it (!), and I've stuck with it, because it's quite loud and distinctive ~ I always know if its my phone ringing on the bus, which is useful as I am partially deaf!

I use my phone as an alarm too, but have a much gentler ringtone for that to wake me up gently...but I have to have it on repeat every 5 minutes because I never hear it the first couple of times!
