Easter Resolutions

I have never been very good at making and keeping New Year resolutions. I am proposing therefore to make Easter Resolutions instead. Several factors favour resolutions being made at Easter.

  • The weather is much better than at New Year, and consequently my mood is better. And today the weather is lovely.
  • There are signs of new life in the garden, and in the forest where we have just been for a walk.
  • I have recently been to confession, and have been cleansed of my sins.
  • And, above all, The Lord is Risen from the dead, so there is new hope for the human race.

Anybody who thinks that I am on the right track is welcome to join me.

Happy Couple!
I was thinking too yesterday that Easter is a good time for making spiritual resolutions ~ as could also be other times of the "spiritual year"...I have been pondering on what mine could be...

Having made an in-depth confession the week before Easter, there was a sense for me too of having a clean slate, sins forgiven, and a resolve to try and live a more God-focused, God-trusting life. I also took advantage of the Holy Father's absolution in the benediction at the end of Urbi et Orbi! I will try to walk forward in faith and trust, trying harder to bring the light of Christ into my family and my work place etc.

I would also like to be more disciplined in prayer, attend Mass more often and a more ordinary resolution ~ to begin letter-writing again, and reconnect with some friends who I used to write to regularly.

“It is most laudable in a married woman to be devout,
but she must never forget that she is a housewife.
And sometimes she must leave God at the altar
to find Him in her housekeeping.”
