As for my weaknesses, I have taken to eating crisps in a big way since Christmas. I really don't know what's got into me - only ready salted as well.

I know I'm not pregnant so goodness knows what it's all about...?!

Thanks for the recipe - I'm a big coffee and chocolate fan. Yum! :ani-clapping :

The coffee label is very colorful. US coffee tubs/tins are pretty dull. The "update" to post-Raj sensibilities looks pretty smart.

Jam goes well with some cakes.

JRJ have you heard of the Robertsons Jam gollies?

Children used to collect little paper stickers off jam jars. When you had enough you could send away for an enamel golly badge. You could try building up sets of gollies. Some played musical insruments. There were sporting gollies and working gollies.

After we had an influx of black people it was decided they were a bit offensive, and thenceforth British children had to do without Robertsons gollies.

This is a guitarist golly badge.

I like the little hiker.

I think the chocolate cake needs a smiley face on it!

I think the little Robertsons Jam gollies are cute - how could a black person hiking be offensive?? In the US, the guitarist might be seen as casting a black person in the role of entertainer a la the Jim Crow era, but the hiker seems progressive to my North American thinking. Are the gollies collectibles on eBay now?

Well I must say that Camp Coffee is very 'pre-V2' so of course I will have a cup and a slice of cake too!

Since V2 the standard has deteriorated and the labels have been played about with!

In Yorkshire it is traditonal to eat Christmas cake with cheese, preferably a white crumbly one. Try it, it is delicious.

My nice snug new coat I got for Christmas has given me an incentive to keep off cakes and chocolates, I easily gain weight if I'm not careful.

Hello, I'm new!
I'm glad to see you have a cake thread! Cake-baking is one of my hobbies ;) This week I made banana bread with pistachios and chopped apricots. I would post a picture, but it didn't last long!

I look forward to joining in here, and thanks to Clare for inviting me :thanks:
