Where is this beautiful church in such a beautiful setting, Mairtin? It is Heavenly!!!
Sorry, Derek, I just noticed this

Contrary to what Draig has just suggested - - the church is in Mauritius. It's about 15 years since I spent a few months working there and perhaps my memory is playing tricks but it seems to have been renovated since then, I seem to remember it as being constructed of corrugated iron rather than rendered brickwork though a similar colour scheme and equally pretty, helped of course by the beautiful setting.

Mauritius has three main ethnic groups - Indian, African and Chinese. This little church serves the mainly African community in the tourist areas of Cap Malheureux where it is situated and nearby Grand Bay and Pereybere.

It is indeed heavenly and I loved attending Mass there

Thank you Mairtin. I suppose Cap Malheureux was so named after several shipwrecks in history. Purely from this view I would have said it was Cap Heureux. I'm intrigued as to why the bells are on a separate tower rather than in the little red tower above the front door. It reminds me of a small chapel I saw on Television a number of years ago. It was also in an idyllic setting, in New Zealand, and the back wall of of the sanctuary was glass so you could admire God's creation of the beautiful scenery.

It reminds me of a Green Cardigan I once knew - sweet and yielding on the outside but with a heart of ice.

I am a cake-evangelist, Derek, so what would you expect... :jester:

I am ashamed to say I made that cake yesterday afternoon and there is one slice left (but not all eaten by me, just, err, 3 slices of it... :bl: ) Guess I'll just have to make another...

Talking about cake...
Some people like to have their cake and eat it (though, literally speaking, if they didn't have it they wouldn't ne anle to eat it!)

Anyway...
There was an interesting item on the news:
5% of all drivers are un-insured; 20% of all young drivers are un-insured.
Interviewed on TV, some young lads explained "If they charged less, we could afford it - but as it's so expensive we don't bother.
Bit like saying: If they cut the price of new Ferraris to £5000 I could afford one but since they charge a fortune for them, I have to steal one instead: it's all their fault for charging so much!

Does no-one educate these morons?
Can't afford, go without.
If you can only afford to buy and insure a Ford Escort, that's what you should buy!
Who gives a stuff about their image? :nono:
