I have just heard from a friend.

His priest, a truly devoted pastor of souls, has cancer, continues for the time being to minister to his parishioners. Chemotherapy has been withdrawn.

The time has come for parishioners, and other Catholics, to give back, to a good and holy servant of God.

Please pray for "Father Joseph" (not his real name)

Father Joseph is very ill indeed, his days are numbered. Just as fatherhood of a family continues until death, this priest continues ministering to his people and is determined to do so for as long as he is able.

Please continue praying for him.

Those who are called to the priesthood are a rare breed, indeed. Their commitment to God and the people they serve always comes first and all too often, their health suffers, whether it be physical, emotional or mental in nature. Our priests need daily prayer, especially when one is suffering ill health. Rest assured Father Joseph and all our priests will be prayed for in their ministry - and in their personal lives.

Father Joseph has been given the final verdict, that his cancer cannot be cured by the medical profession. Doctors have agreed to continue with the chemotherapy, in the hope of extending his life for a while. HE IS STILL WORKING, RUNNING A PARISH.

Please pray for Father Joseph, for his parish, his bishop (who is very short of priests) and pray that men of a similar level of dedication and self sacrifice will come forward to serve the Church.

My friend Tony tells me that despite his cancer, Fr Joseph soldiers on, still caring for his parish and parishioners. Tony wished Father Joseph a Happy New Year and told him to behave himself, it bought a smile to his face.

I have been asked to thank Cyberforum members for their prayers.

Oh my....what a dedicated man. I'll continue for him and pray for a miracle. He's certainly giving it his all. Can we do no less? Prayers continuing.

Father Joseph, after struggling to continue serving his people, in an area where there is acute priest shortage, has been told the cancer has spread to his spine. He spoke to his bishop about this, the bishop advised him to retire.

Please pray for Father Joseph, as he makes his decision, for his parishioners and for their bishop who is faced with difficult decisions.

Father Joseph has been a truly devoted servant of God, continuing to care for his parishioners over a long period of very serious illness.

Praying for him, and filled with admiration for the way he has borne his illness through all this time, while still tending to his flock.
