I have sometimes wondered why this forum was set up when totalcatholic already existed. Today I found out the answer. Earlier today, I posted something about a man who posted regularly and then didn't post for two weeks. I wondered if he were ill, and I suggested that we should pray for each other. I put the same message on totalcatholic. The post on totalcatholic received 2 views and 0 responses. The post on this forum received 18 views and 1 response. So the difference between this forum and totalcatholic seems to be that folks on totalcatholic like to discuss their religion, whereas folks on this forum like to pray their religion. Am I correct? I have since received a private message from the man, so he is not ill as I suspected: he has just been too busy to post. And maybe that deserves a prayer. Edited by SeanJ, Tuesday, 25. This forum has always been very active in prayer requests. I really love this forum. I like TC too for certain reasons; but I love this one. |

I like to think we have succeeded on here, in building up a praying AND FRIENDLY Catholic Community. It is a boon for any Catholic who has little or no contact with their parish during the week. My closest Catholic friends are on this forum, as I live a few miles from church, and it is only opened up once a week, for Mass. Since 1985 I have built up some pretty good relationships with members, through private messages and email. I chat to two of them, on the phone. |

I like both forums (fora?), but this one is much more calm and friendly. |

I like this forum being a small group. Forums with thousands of members and hundreds of posts per day can be very informative, but there is not as much feeling of community as we have here. New people are always welcome, but thousands would be hard to get to know. This week, I have heard from two members who have not posted for a while, explaining the reasons and assuring me they have not left us, and will be back as soon as possible. |

Hi everyone, There is certainly a much more relaxed atmosphere here than in other UK Catholic 'forums' and one doesn't have the feeling that Big Brother may be watching! A few years ago I tried some of the very big Catholic 'forums' based in the USA but they were just too vast to enjoy and absolutely overrun by 'moderators' and 'rules' ! Salva nos Save us CARLO |

It expires about once a month, Clare. I'll sort out the next payment when I get a minute. Meanwhile, if unpleasant ads appear: Right click on the advert, there is a box you can click to block google ads. |

How am I to know when the recession is going to end if I'm denied access to useful resources like that! |
