Then migrate to Australia. I picked up a customer today in the Maxi Taxi who migrated to Australia about 18 months ago from Yorkshire (or that is where she said her accent hailed from). Then you'll be complaining it's too hot.

Our bishop's not ineffectual though.
Bob my ineffectual bishop is not in Yorkshire, I was born there and left some years ago, but am still fond of the place.

Is your bishop effectual with wind and rainfall?

We diid have a combined churches day of prayer for rain a year or so ago, when our dams were down around the 16% level. They're now around the 45% level, but our main dam is still hanging around the 25% level.

So, did God answer prayer? I suppose He did, but He seems to have held complete deliverance in reserve. I think He might be waiting to see which way the general community goes in relation to Him. As usual it' was done in such a way that a Christian will say God did it, and a skeptic will say it was natural causes.

It was however a combined churches prayer effort.

WInd is not usually a problem here, although we've just had a fairly destructive storm which destroyed some houses in a particular suburb of the city, with about 1000 people still without power. The bishop doesn't live in that suburb though .......

It's received a lot of publicity, part of which I think is due to the fact the television stations are all very close to the damaged area. I think one of the TV stations copped a bit of a hiding to a building, but I'm not sure. Other areas further away also copped severe damage, but haven't been as intensely reported.

The other reason for the above average news worthiness is that the Lord Mayor lives in the area. A lot of damage did occur though, within a limited area, a bit like a mini-tornado in the middle of the storm.

It appears we're in for a spate of storms. While we used to get summer storms regularly, I do wonder if they're getting a bit more savage.

Wind? Wind? I understand there is discussion of putting wind turbines on the edge of the Lake District. Gordon Bennett, isn't there enough wind from people eating beans? Harness that and see how much power you can generate with it!!! At least it wouldn't be unsightly - but it would be rather gasseous. I think it could actually power several parish churches - if you know what I mean! Over here, it's not really windy until the F-2 comes roaring down the road!!!

I don't think the result of eating beans would contribute to the reverence in a church even if it might save on the cost of electricity or heating.
