Prayer for the sick.
Adapted from the Mass for the sick.

At sunset all those who had friends
Suffering from sickness of any kind
Brought them to Him and laying His
Hands on each, He cured them: Luke 4,40.

Lord Jesus You healed the sick.
Lord have mercy.

Lord Jesus You have borne our sorrows
And carried our infirmities.
Christ have Mercy.

Father, Your Son accepted our suffering
To teach us to be patient in sickness.
May all who are sick or in pain realise
That they are joined to Christ in His
Suffering for the Salvation of the world.

Father, hear us as we Ask Your loving help.
Restore your servant who is sick to the
Fullnes of health and to lasting peace.

We ask this through Christ our Lord.

Mary, our Mother, help of the sick.
Pray for us.

God Bless all who visit this forum,

Alan.

God's might to uphold you
God's wisdom to guide you
God's eye to look before you
God's ear to hear you
God's word to speak to you
God's hand to protect you.
Scripture Verse: 2 Corinthians 4:7

When we yield to discouragement it is usually because we give too much thought to the past and to the future.

Prayer for the Pope

All praise and glory are Yours, Lord Jesus:
You have made us Your body, Your Church,
And help us to bear fruit for our heavenly Father.

You chose St. Peter as the rock,
And sent him to feed Your flock
And to strengthen his brothers and sisters,
Continue to help Your Church
Through the guidance of our Pope,
And keep us faithful in Your service.

Jesus, our brother,
You are Lord for ever and ever.

Amen.

God be in my head,
And in my understanding;

God be in my eyes,
and in my looking;

God be in my mouth,
And in my speaking;

God be in my heart,
And in my thinking;

God be at my end,
and at my departing.

The above Prayer first appeared in the Sarum Primer (1514)

An Irish Wedding Prayer

By the power that Christ brought from heaven,
mayst thou love me.
As the sun follows its course,
mayst thou follow me.
As light to the eye,
as bread to the hungry,
as joy to the heart,
may thy presence be with me,
oh one that I love,
'til death comes to part us asunder.

In ainmh an Athair, agus a mhic agus an Spiorad Naofa. Amen.

In nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritus Sancti. Amen.

In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Different Languages same very profound Prayer.

Meditate on the above Prayer.

Do we use it in its own right or to signify the beginning and end of our "God slots" during the day?

The Quality of Mercy is not Strain'd

The quality of mercy is not strain'd,
It droppeth as the gentle rain from heaven
Upon the place beneath: it is twice blest;
It blesseth him that gives and him that takes:
'Tis mightiest in the mightiest: it becomes
The throned monarch better than his crown;
His sceptre shows the force of temporal power,
The attribute to awe and majesty,
Wherein doth sit the dread and fear of kings;
But mercy is above this sceptred sway;
It is enthroned in the hearts of kings,
It is an attribute to God himself;
And earthly power doth then show likest God's
When mercy seasons justice.

Most of us, frankly, are drawn to a particular spiritual practice because, as a doctor might say, certain "symptoms are presenting." You might feel something is missing in your life. You could be feeling incredibly grateful. You could be facing a crisis. You could be concerned about the problems in the world. Take heart! Real-life feelings, challenges, and experiences are just what spiritual practices are

O God,Whose only-begotten Son by His life, death and resurrection has purchased for us the reward of eternal salvation, grant we beseech Thee, that meditating on these mysteries in the most holy Rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary, we may both imitate what they contain and obtain what they promise.

The Answer to Prayer is Sure

The time may be delayed, the manner be unexpected, but the answer is sure to come. Not a tear of sacred sorrow, not a breath of holy desire poured out in prayer to God will ever be lost, but in God's own time and way will be wafted back again in clouds of mercy, and fall in showers of blessing on you and on those for whom you pray.

This comes from an old prayer book which first appeared on Passion Sunday, 1898. 25th Anniversary of the Consecration of Ireland to the Sacred Heart. It was compiled by Father Francis Daly, S.J., who died 19th October, 1907.

This old prayerbook has been very well loved, well used and is very well worn. It contains many prayers in Latin, English and Irish. On the title page it says:

A.M.D.G.

The Child of Mary
Before Jesus abandoned in the Tabernacle.

Can anyone tell me more?

St Teresa of Avila ( Feast Day 15 October,

Wrote as Follows:

"Christ has no body now on earth but yours,
no hands but yours,
no feet but yours.

Yours are the eyes through which Christ's compassion is to look out to the earth,
yours are the feet by which He is to go about doing good
and yours are the hands by which He is to bless us now"
