Prayers for Pope Benedict XVI

All,

Please can we all pray for Pope Benedict as he embarks on his visit to Turkey. It looks as though his reception may not be what we would wish for. So could we pray for his safety and for the success of the visit. It would be good to get prayer cover started before he reaches Turkish soil.

Gerald thank you for starting this topic, after you had asked the admins to start it and I said "Please do it Gerry".

In view of the importance, and the risks being taken by Pope Benedict, I will pin this topic to keep it high on the list.

May God Bless His Holiness.

I must admit, I am really concerned for our Holy Father's safety. But you can't tell him NOT to go.....I simply wish he had postponed this visit until a little later next year when some of the hostility had subsided. I will be very happy when he returns home safely. And I pray for the success of his visits.

My prayers are with His Holiness as he embarks on this visit.

In my view it would have been wrong to postpone the visit as it would have been telling the militants who are opposed to the visit (wrongfully in my opinion) that they can influence, adversely, a true Man of God.

We are very fortunate that in recent years that we have Popes who do not fear the will of men in their endeavours to promote the Word of God, and in their efforts to bring all people to the Kingdom of God.

God Bless all who visit this forum,

Alan.

Pope Benedict is a true warrior of our Lord Jesus, and we pray that Our Blessed Lady will cast her protecting veil over this important Papal visit to Turkey, with the hope of building bridges of peace and understanding between all faiths.

May God protect the Vicar of Christ on his journey into the lands of the Saracen.

He's a brave and holy man.

This afternoon I clicked onto the website of Boston Catholic Television Service and discovered it was relaying the Holy Mass of the Pope at the Shrine of Our Lady in Ephesus. A Turkish cleric was reading the Pope's speech or sermon. The Holy Mass was mostly in Italian (The Lord's Prayer in Latin) and the Bidding Prayers in Turkish, English, German, Italian and French. Afterwards he greeted a lot of clerics and lay people and gave them a medal.

I must say I thanked Almighty God and Our Lady that through the media of the Internet "I was able to be there!". It was a wonderful experience.

(Our 8 year old grandson was a bit impatient because he had to wait sometime before he could play his on-line games).

This is embarassing. I should have included Pope Benedict's visit in this week's Sunday Prayer list. I am truly sorry for the omission and shall make amends next week.

Rose,

I would not be too embarrassed. The visit ended on Friday. I think we had all heaved a sigh of releif then.

Gerry the visit ended on Friday. I wish I had included a suggestion that we give thanks to God, at Mass on Saturday evening or Sunday.
